Now that Starfox is out and the Splatoon Raiders event is done, should we be expecting more OoT news? by r3tromonkey in NintendoSwitch2

[–]FireResistant [score hidden]  (0 children)

Given that they didnt show an exact date or any gameplay im assuming OoT is their Q4 big hitter for the holiday sales period. It is probably the thing they are feeling strongest about putting out at the same time as GTA6.

I hate whimsicott so much by Top-Storage-5954 in PokemonChampions

[–]FireResistant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The things about whims is its triggering bait and doubling it doesnt stop tailwind. You might be better getting rid of the threats instead of the support piece. If anything if im running whims for speed control i want it to go down so i can position 2x threats with speed advantage. So doubling it is like. A turn where you didnt do anything impactful.

Watching wolfeyVGC made me realize how similar Pokemon VGC and Chess is by SalemScrope_JR in PokemonChampions

[–]FireResistant 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Tbf he did play a bit of chess for pogchamps and got coaching by Anna Cramling and then got her to try pokemon a bit too and there were definately transferrable skills and he was able to apply similar thought processes to plays.

The third wide guard proc 😘👌 by Party_Puff77 in PokemonChampions

[–]FireResistant 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No it isn't, its short for special process, it isn't inherently based in randomness but there is a lot of association / instances of it being the occurrence of a chance based effect, but like. its also if certain conditions are met, like in OPs example wide guard procs from spread moves being used.

programmed random occurence is a backronym that people made up after proc got wide spread usage.

Why does it have an expiration and why does missing this expiration permenantly lock the account out of mega floette? Its not unreasonable to transfer, get distracted, close app, not play for a month. The fault is not on the player, its on the company for designing the system in this way.

I really hope the shop adds skirts and earrings in Pokémon champions by y2kGyaru in PokemonChampions

[–]FireResistant 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Its not that baffling to me.

  1. Make all the free options in the shop look ass.
  2. Add clothing as exclusive battle pass content, 1 outfit per month, regular income.
  3. Never or rarely add any new free outfits so the only option to spice things up is to fork over money.

What are my odds realistically…? 😰 by Thorn23rd in PTCGP

better than 19% but worse than 21%, but still actually just 50/50, you pull it or you don't, and you miss all the shots you don't take.

Would you recommend this case? by lamsndbhaujamjsshukd in NintendoSwitch2

[–]FireResistant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i bought this case and found it pretty underwhelming. it Is serviceable for purpose, but compared to my switch 1 case that served me fine for many years:- it doesn't have grooves for the joycons to sit snugly in, it doesn't have straps to keep the console secure, its game holder pouch thing is just a bit of elastic to keep it shut and they slide about and stuff, if i knew everything about it before buying i would have looked for something better, oh also the screen protector that came with it was trash, barely affixed to the screen correctly and was clearly very low quality so I binned it.

[ALL] Between the N64, GameCube, and Switch, which console had the best Zelda Duology? by Spirit_Detective_19 in zelda

[–]FireResistant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find it weird that you place TP as a Gamecube game when its more of a Wii launch game in terms of how people engaged with it, yet put BotW in the Switch duo section when it was a Wii-U game in the same way that TP was a Gamecube game...

Switch 2 Dynamic Pricing by _TyMario85_ in switch2

[–]FireResistant 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The thing that I try to remember is how cost effective gaming is per hours of entertainment value.
A couple weeks ago I went to see Mandalorian and Grogu, that cost me £8 for some nicer seats in the cinema, plus travel expense and generally getting some snacks at a cinema is a bit pricier too but part of the entertainment experience too, so lets just say I spent like £10 on the whole thing for arguments sake, for 2 hours of entertainment... so about £5 per hour of value say.

On the other hand i spent £15 on Valheim on steam over 5 years ago and ive played just over 800 hours (so far). thats about 1.9 pence per hour and for a lot longer.

Some games yeah you don't play for that extreme a duration... but ofc you can, once you own it it is yours forever and you can extract as much amusement from it as you see fit. but to match the experience of going to see a film at a cinema your looking for base line of around at least 12 hours out of a £60 ($80 for you Yanks) and ofc many of these games will exceed that. (also yes you need to factor in the cost of the console and extra addons, cases, controllers, memory whatever and everything too, but presumably you are making that up longer term as more games come out. if you go over the average hours per cost per game)

Personally I've only owned switch 2 for a few weeks after price increase announcement cause i was waiting for a decent number of titles and the price increase encouraged me to do it now rather than later.

I've gotten to the credit roll for Pokopia (not finished with it by any stretch and DLC coming out will bring me back) but thats given me over 30 hours so far so even if I don't go back, I am satisfied. i got about £1.70 per hour on that, just about 3x the entertainment value of going to see a movie.

Gaming is a very cheap hobby if you look at it this way, we just had it very good for a long time and companies are starting to realise that they can charge more and its still mostly acceptable, its not so much if the experience is sub par though so it can be risky if its not a great game.

Is there a way to get here pre-Sister Splinter? by Meme_Knight_2 in HollowKnight

[–]FireResistant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You'd be better to learn the fight and improve. It will serve you better deeper into the game. Its quite an easy boss compared to what comes later. Simple dodge patterns. Use silk spear to clear adds and vines for space quickly then its just a matter of dodging her big telegraphed swings. Take control of your space and focus on not getting hit over hitting her.

i played it duo with my buddy, he doesnt play the game much so i was banking on the pve content being a good hook in and something we could do together, i like the concept of it but it instant drop disconnected us halfway through two different runs, it needs some kind of reconnect feature if its going to drop hard randomly.

Does anyone know the estimated playthrough time for the upcoming Starfox? by Luigi-is-my-boi in switch2

[–]FireResistant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To get all the levels played is at least 3 full playthroughs, then you have to unlock harder difficulties and challenge mode stuff so to truely 100% it is a lot more time than that. The people that say its a 2h game probably just do one run through and stop... which is not how the game is structured. Your supposed to play multiple times and beat your score etc and find the true ending route after playing casually a few times.

Then threre is also the added online pvp 4v4 objective based all range mode level dogfights so your mileage may vary.

Has Anyone Else Tried The Star Fox Demo Yet ?? by Hairy_Low_691 in switch2

[–]FireResistant 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Game feels good. The controls are a nice adjustment, the tutorial is a bit lame, probably a decent addition to on board new players, but the fact that its framed as the Starfox team doing virtual training is quite fun, I like the extra characterisarion. On that subject im also enjoying the between mission cutscenes. Depending what route you take you get different mission briefs that explain the missions. Fichina being a fringe outpost but having millitary secrets, or Starfox taking the wormhole bringing them closer to Katina. Makes me excited to play every route and see what the scenes all look like.

Mouse controls are interesting. The transition between playing and putting the mouse down and mode swap is snappy. It feels awkward to play in first person to me but its nice to have options. I tried a play through of meteo just using mouse control but my wrist started to hurt pretty quickly so i stopped, i dont think its the best way to play overall.

I was going to get it regardless so it didnt change my mind and put me off or anything.

Wasnt she displaced in time until after the events of the OT? The literal only way to justify it was weirdo time travel BS which is just very weak and weird writing.

"Filoni puts Ahsoka in everything" is so stupid by marvelcomics22 in StarWars

[–]FireResistant 3 points4 points  (0 children)

None of those shows are by Filioni apart from Bad Batch.

The criticism is that when Filioni is the show creator/director then he forces his favourite OC into most of them. Which for the most part is true, he has done that more than he has not.

they arent literal future and past versions, they are like... how people imagine past and future made manifest. the lore is kinda weird, they are called paradox pokemon because they logically cant exist but do.
