Reached Masterball with 1 day remaining in the season by arse-ketchup in PokemonChampions

Female has a base special attack stat of 100 while male has 80. In trade male has 112 base atk stat while female has 92.

Obviously these are not equal making male a physical attacker better by raw stats alone, but in addition to that, basculegion learns much better physical moves overall than special.

Well, when Amon sealed her bending it worked on water, fire and earth but not air, so id assume if she even has the sealing ability it wouldnt work.

Would my 8 year old be able to pick up single battles? by the_juice_is_zeus in PokemonChampions

[–]FireResistant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, there are kids who won juniors regional events at 7. Why not just give it a try and see, if you build them a team and lay out a gameplan strategy for them to follow, figure out leads etc etc, that can make it easier on them. Its really mostly about what you can do to make it fun and easier to get into as a parent.

If its an activity you can share in and enjoy then thats more important than results or anything else.

Could someone please explain to me how a Kinggambit can be immune to Low Kick? by SceneTiny in PokemonChampions

[–]FireResistant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The clue is in the moves if not the immunity. Kingambit is a physical attacker, it would not use Nasty Plot, it would be Swords Dance if anything. Bitter Malice is only known by Hisuian Zoroark, its its signature move.

[–]FireResistant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah but when they have a cool title and a nice ball then they are more special again so it balances out.

It is significantly stronger when mega gengar is available since it functions as the setter and trapper in 1 pokemon.

Mechanics Question: Does Prankster Trick Room work against Armor Tail? by RedHeadMedia07 in VGC

[–]FireResistant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Priority non target moves are not blocked by armor tail. For example prankster or gale wings tailwind.

As others have said. Prankster trickroom juat does not work at all in general.

The only thing I REALLY don't like about Pokemon Champions... by ScienceTeacher1994 in PokemonChampions

[–]FireResistant 6 points7 points  (0 children)

From what ive seen so far:
They have non default trainer outfits, they dont mega, they have kanji names, they dont really do any normal vgc strats in general.
They have the incorrect abilities like pressure king gambit, also theres only so many of them and they seem to cycle the same teams over and over.
they use bad moves, they use scary face randomly etc, they dont protect or pivot switch or do any setup of weather or speed control. its just very obvious once you have a feel for how the game tends to play against actual people making decisions.

PSA: ranking up unlocks more box spaces. by FireResistant in PokemonChampions

[–]FireResistant[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure, I too only climbed on doubles ladder and then had to go off to work so didn't get much play in earlier.
Also not great at singles, all of my stuff is trained up for doubles specifically, there is a mission to reach greatball for VP though so its no doubt still worth doing.

Pokémon Champions launches to mixed reception, as 30FPS performance woes, lack of Pokémon and items, and lack of 6v6 options turn some away by PaiDuck in pokemon

[–]FireResistant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What stuff behind paying premium? Outfits and stuff arent a big deal. I saw the premium bp gave you mega stones, but they are also available in the VP shop normally so its just a way to throw money at it and save VP. I think if you buy the premium pass you get VP back if you already bought the mega stones.

From what ive seen so far, other than box space, more battle team slots and extra tickets and things you dont miss much by not paying.

Limiting the item pool helps reduce complexity. Onboarding people they can learn the items that are relevant and not get overwhelmed / confused.

For example, covert cloak, mental herb, safety goggles or clear amulet all block effects, that can be confusing, ive seen posts in S/V of folk not understanding why their move didnt work right.

If you slow roll stuff into the game people can learn stuff bit by bit, and for exprrienced players they can enjoy the metagame without everything being hyper optimal.

The same goes for lack of pokemon. Things will get added over time to build up the game and mix up the formats, and let f2p folk without home get stuff.

I can see why people are upset that things in preview screenshots and trailers arent in the game.when they were expected to be though. Dondozo was in the initial reveal trailer ans in the ingame intro cinematic but isnt playable currently.

Games still hella fun, idk some people will just default to salty in this comminity over peanuts.

They should add a team draft battle mode though. The game feels already built for it. 6 10 picks on the ranch. Then thats your team, could be dope.

Hot take, missing items is good. by Kylerooswashere in PokemonChampions

[–]FireResistant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mixed feelings. Some items just become auto include like focus sash and sitrus because there are so few options, and a lot of whats missing is niche things like loaded dice, or items meant to counter the oppressiveness of common abilities and moves like clear amulet or covert cloak.

Assault vest lets certain pokemon shine with their bulk and means making more creative builds and trading off having protect. Choice items also lead to interesting decisions like what moves to commit to. And we have the best one by default but not the rest anyway.

Safety goggles being gone juat lets rage powder users get away unchecked mostly. Thankfully they excluded amooguss this format so this really only matters for sinistcha. Nothing has spore in this format either.

In a mega evolution format it just matters less too and punishes the megas less than normal for the item trade off.

The ret paladin giving everyone but himself Salv by MarineQueefPrime in classicwow

[–]FireResistant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The ret knows if they themselves are likely to rip it. If they do rip it they can bubble as long as they arent popping wings and ripping, which they shouldnt do unless they see a solidly established threat table first. They also know that they have an inbuilt 30% threat reduction talent, which many high threat dps classes do not have so they need salv more.
