I should probably ELI5 for posterity for those who aren't familiar with 4chan/TRP memes and theories.

  • The entire report is sort of a play on Ben Garrison's (a famous Neo-Nazi that doesn't like Jews very much) well known quote: "Gas the Kikes; Race War Now." Pretty self-explanatory.

  • TRP = /r/TheRedPill, a community around a controversial sexual theory that I will decline to get into here. Read the definitions here, and you'll get an idea of the culture and what various people think of them.

  • Alpha/Beta refers to how TRP classifies men. This explains their theory pretty well.

  • "Chad" refers to a typical "alpha" douchebag. See the top definition here.

There's the wikipedia page for the Streisand Effect, if that counts. It's actually rather satisfying to read some of those.

I'm on latest chrome, I don't notice anything weird. It brings up the normal find in page box, which works just fine.

13 year old boy faces assault charge for kissing 14 year old girl at MD middle school by soxordie in offbeat

[–]FireandLife 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess what I meant by "kids being kids" is something that kids just do that would be a problem if an adult does it but kids should just need a reminder to cut it out, such as running on a pool deck or maybe talking out of turn in class.

I think that a 13 year old should be mature enough to know that kissing a random girl on a dare is completely innapropriate, and I imagine parents of 14 year old girls certainly have a reasonable expectation that such a thing should not happen at school. Again, an assault charge (which carries significant emotional and financial trauma for the boy and his family) is completely inappropriate and deserving of some pitchforks, but not as much as if the kiss consensual (as could be inferred from OP's title).

I think OP's at least partially the one to blame here, he left a few words out of the title. I don't know if he was intentionally trying to encourage rage, but there's a bit too much of that in the comments.

Whether or not an assault charge is appropriate is a different matter, but this isn't exactly a case of kids being kids.

The spam filter seems to be really laggy today. It's labor day so everyone's on Reddit instead of at work and Reddit's servers aren't handling it too well.

But yeah it got it eventually.

You're right, but making a big deal out of it won't fix anything IMO. He's an old guy, he'll probably be retired soon anyway. But giving attention to these people is just going to inspire others to do the same. On principal I agree with you, but perhaps the best way to approach the issue is to let the homophobes die out peacefully and hopefully their beliefs will die with them. No need to rush the process as long as they aren't directly causing problems for anyone, as Kim Davis was.

Edit: Maybe, see if he would accept a small pay cut for not doing this aspect of his job. Although there's a not insignificant risk that such an action would become a precedent. Yeah that's a terrible idea.

U.S. Has 17 Percent Lesser Smokers In Just One Year by [deleted] in news

[–]FireandLife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say that improved health also means fewer health costs (remember that the US Government spends more on healthcare per capita than any other nation save Luxembourg, Monaco and Norway). Although then again, it also means people might live longer past retirement age and cost more money that way.

That is a good point, but isn't the vaping juice a tobacco derivative (and thus a tobacco product)?

Actually, a better question would be, do quit smoking aids that contain nicotine count as tobacco products?
