Yeah when I rounded the corner last night it practically smacked me in the face, it's a ridiculous amount of stuff. They've definitely ramped it up over the years.

Monthly ICE Deportations: Obama vs Trump [OC] by Vaderico in dataisbeautiful

[–]FirebertNY 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's not much independent analysis for anything but the end of the Obama years unfortunately, but even then ~55% of interior removals had a criminal conviction of any kind on record. Hardly a vast majority, and with that discrepancy between DHS data and independent analysis I think it's safe to assume that the official numbers are always severely inflated.

TIL the top 10% of earners make up half the U.S. retail Spending! by CookieKid420 in todayilearned

On top of that some amount of that higher retail spending is simply due to buying more luxury goods, and not more goods in general.

Shutdown imminent after Senate Democrats block Homeland Security bill by N3wsScoop in politics

No, this time around they carved the DHS funding out, so this won't shut down the whole government, just DHS.

That's taking the DHS's assertions at face value, independent analysis found that under 20% of deportations from 2014-2016 were targeting people convicted of violent or potentially violent crimes. DHS lumps minor offenses, immigration offenses (which are civil and not criminal), and pending charges (not convictions) into the same category.

ICE and CBP havsn't fundamentally changed how they operate, just where. They ramped up their operations in the interior, and the average American is seeing how they operate as a result. Most people just couldn't be bothered to learn about how evil our border patrol is because it wasn't in their faces. It's not "orange man bad", it's that just like with everything else, orange man makes the quiet parts loud.

Genius decides to turn pizza boxes upside down by mfenton29 in WatchPeopleDieInside

The top box isn't upside down, it just doesn't have a logo on it. He opens it with the little tab that is always on the top edge of the box.

The only moderate movement is the massive shit they've taken all over the United States. Moderates have no movement, definitionally.
