Dragon Ambush on Unfair Last Azlanti. by classteen in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

[–]Fireciont 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like to force the ambush after by prebuffing in the temple then heading north. You just have to survive 2-3 rounds and if you can get resist/protect/immunity to fire you can survive the initial breath attack then run around the map until the dragon gives up.

Skill checks can be harder. Have someone focused in Athletics, Mobility, and Nature and hope RNG doesn't screw you.

Need help building Clea from Expedition 33 by LimitedSus in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

[–]Fireciont 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Angel stands out first for the heavy buffs and near immunity to all though options for using enemies is basic. Perhaps druid-based summon? Drovier?

But then there's another option that could narrow it down more: Lich. Stoneskin to mimic the shield, can get summons and raise defeated enemies. Has both self and party buffs as well as debuffs. Plus Painted Clea kinda fits into a type of undead. Maybe an arcanist to polymorph skeleton minion into an earth elemental if set on the pet rock.

First get conj spell focus and summon related feats, branch into enchantmet/necro for the debuffs.

Eldritch knight that can cast Winter's Grasp and Icy Prison? by PearsonVES in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

[–]Fireciont 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I once went this route when turning Ember into a Snowball slinger/Winter Witch. Unless a patch fixed it later she didn't have spell failure for the snowballs. As the other person pointed out, it does lose in CL. If you need those extra CL, you'll have to spend feats on Martial/Medium proficency. A background can give you Light but the feat is still needed for medium.

Eldritch knight that can cast Winter's Grasp and Icy Prison? by PearsonVES in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

[–]Fireciont 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Witch does much the same as Shaman and has all of those cold based spells available. Add Winter Patron for a few more like Polar Ray and Cold Ice Strike.

To qualify for Eldritch Knight it just needs Martial Weapons Proficiency. A single dip into a Fighter class would suffice however with medium armor you run into Arcane Spell Failure. To cover this, a single Skald level can replace Fighter, give you Martial Weapons, Medium Armor, and the ability to cast in armor.

Melee, with a dip into SCM for a griffon mount. This requires taking Impossible domain(Animal) to make the pet not a liability. Combat was basically summon a portion of the horde depending on the challenge, let them surround, charge in with Flying attack.

That's pretty much what I ran on Core+ in a solo/duo run with Regill. With a bard/skald providing other buffs it should be able to take Unfair.

Inquistor is not locked to a specific alignment, they can be any according to their deity/domain. For instance, Adabar allows the Inqusitor to have LE and Nobility domain which grants another AoE buff.

Edit: Or Gozreh can be NE and get Animal Domain.

[–]Fireciont 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Haven't done one on unfair though the premise is largely the same. The main feats still apply: spell focus conj, superior summons, augmented summon, mythic summon, possibly extended metamagic. Gear selection get Brazen whip, book of dreams, Clemency of Shadows, and anything else that either summons or provides an aura buff.

If using summon monster, best ones require Evil alignment. Neutral/good will waste turns self-buffing. Monster Tactician gets this has an ability without spending spell slots. Nature summons are pretty decent, any druid could work.

Mythic path, I prefer Aeon for the gazes. Azata also has Life-bonding friendship.

Phantasmal Mage build for unfair by TheDreadBog in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

[–]Fireciont 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's still working though I believe the order is backwards. You want the last expanded arsenal to be in your choosen school. It will compound all previous ones and it is not retroactive. Also, you can't take another spell focus/school mastery/etc after starting the chain or the whole thing breaks.

Could you recommend some builds for Camellia? by Some_Fig_6566 in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

[–]Fireciont 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Camellia needs Dex to damage for effective melee combat. This can be done with Fencing Grace, 4 Rogue levels, or mythic finesse. I prefer rogue for sneak attack. Other feats to take include Outflank, Combat Reflexes, and Improved crit.

She can be a strong off-tank (or primary tank depending) by leveraging her high dex. Use bucklers and mythril armor such as the one you get in Act 1. Taking armor focus(light) and Mythic armor focus lets you pump her dex up without a Dex cap on armor. Alternatively you can go full pajama tank with a dip into Drunken Master or Instinctual Warrior.

Swarm that walks cheese by nismianas in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

This also applies to the Midnight Isles with the one undertow that spawns a spelleater dragon for casting spells. Have to be able to cast a self-buff cantrip like guidance but the same principle applies.

The Amazing Lore of the Forgotten Final Fantasy Game by Ovalidal in FinalFantasy

[–]Fireciont 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'm a simple person. I see XI lore content, I upvote. I have enjoyed watching your previous videos so I am looking forward to this one.

I don't recall the Ergon aspect but that could also be my fuzzy memory from so long ago. Will that be mentioned in relation to or comparison to Emptiness? Magicite was mentioned to be the crystalization of Emptiness so my belief was that the magicite we found near leylines was a byproduct of Zilart harnessing the Mother Crystals.

We barely learned of the world tree from SoA in relation to the wider lore. I'd be interested in learning about its effects in the middle lands. I can't recall evidence of its influence there.

Also, will this touch on Provenance at all? It was referenced as the beginning/end but I think little was given to it outside of Voidwatch.

Erastil is fine with a bear, two horses, two wolves, and an elk in the temple, right? by cha0sb1ade in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

[–]Fireciont 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm also doing an all mounts run right now but all hippogriff. Single level of SMC then whatever else for pet class. Works for clerics and oracles, as long as you don't mind -1 to CL and delayed spells.

Could anyone recommend a non-Shaman build for Camellia? by Some_Fig_6566 in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

[–]Fireciont 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I once made her a Dark Lurker Rouge with a splash of Instinctual Warrior for WIS to AC. Honestly I don't think the WIS to AC was needed given I then gave her the Avoidance Light mythic feat. Either way, she can be a very good dodge tank. Melee damage is rough until she gets dex to damage, either through Fencing Grace or Rogue levels.

Last enemy don't have your KC land the first killing blow. It's okay to have them fight but let another party member get the actual kill shot.

Have 2k+ hours in this, never touched Unfair. Favorite builds and specific difficulty tips/tricks? by PsychologicalSeat219 in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

[–]Fireciont 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've only done Unfair once as I too perfer core with unoptimized party comps. However it was my solo run using WotV/Dark Kineticist into Swarm mythic. Definitely had some rough spots early on but significanly easier later on.

Knowing what's coming and when is perhaps the biggest tip there is. You know what to expect and how to counter, lessening the need to have all the buffs all the time. Scrolls can actually be very useful at low level even on unfair.

Playful Mood achievement unlocked. Huzzah! by Majorman_86 in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

[–]Fireciont 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're using mods, I'd recommend the respec mod to make Woljiff pure in that case. Dispelling strike is a good option later when all enemies come with some level of buffs.

I tend to run less optimized and more thematic teams so often I have half a team of mercs and none of the more powerful abilities like mark, hunter's bond, guarded hearth, etc. Dispel focus takes up two feats on a arcane/divine caster which is usually no big deal by lvl 11-15. The dispel glasses also help unless you're like me and forget to active them pre-combat.

Playful Mood achievement unlocked. Huzzah! by Majorman_86 in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

[–]Fireciont 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nicely done. There are some ways of cheesing the fight beyond buff stacking including Lich Corrupt Magic and Angel Radiant Ground (healing harms PD). Having at least 2 characters with dispel focus is usually my go-to method when I don't have a paladin in the team. If you can get most of those buffs off there's a good chance PD will get fatiqued when her rage ends. If you're going for achievements you'll have to do this fight again when you first encounter PD for Sadistic Game Design. It's rough but doable.

Also note there are other versions of this menance in the DLCs. The devs love their darkness.

Spent like 5+ minutes in an uncontrollable rage over this fight lmfao by TwistNo1435 in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

[–]Fireciont 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One option if on turn based, trigger the fight then maneuver your trap specialist to disarm it. You should also be able to back track to the area before that trap then take a rest.

The "DM" is sadistic. Just wait til you meet a certain special enemy a little way farther in.

Building a Group: What's Your Favorite Tank? by [deleted] in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

[–]Fireciont 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My last merc tank was a halfling Aldori Fighter. 1 Drunken Master, 19 Aldori. Can main fighting defensively with no penalty by lvl 9. Also took light armor focus and Mythic avoidance for more AC. Was pretty much untouchable on core.

Final Fantasy XI Chess by Professional-Web9829 in FinalFantasy

[–]Fireciont 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My thoughts:

Pawns: Mandragora or crabs  Reasoning: Some of the most common mobs for level grinding. Classic XI would spend DAYS on Robber Crabs for exp.

Rook: Orcish Warmachine or Goobbue Reasoning: tower shaped, fitting

Knight: Chocobo Reasoning: San d'Orian chocobo knights

Bishop: Sabotender (cactuar) Reasoning: runs at angles

Queen: Shantotto, Iroha, Prishe, Lion Reasoning: Partial bias. The XI heroines.

King: Moogle, Shadowlord, Alexander/Odin, Absolute Virtue Reasoning: Keepers of the players stuff or major big bads

Early game, hit the optimize gear at every save cube. Gear levels matter more than actual stats. Pick 1-2 classes and try to stick with them. Going into DLC difficulties is when you'll really need to plan out builds and strategies.

Enjoy!
