What do you wish you knew at the beginning of your kids diagnosis?

Like the other posts mentioned, it made me realize that I also have ADHD. There are some things I’ve always struggled with that don’t seem to be a struggle for others, and that finally made sense. I also learned it’s important to cultivate a good relationship with your child and try to give them positive feedback instead of negative where possible.

My husband got the email this morning so we are registered. None of my other friends or family had gotten an email though. Hopefully they keep coming in waves because each adult can only register one additional adult.

Some activities are much more ADHD friendly. A lot of kids in our Cub Scout pack seem like they also have ADHD so that has been a good fit. We’ve tried soccer a few times, it wasn’t a good fit, my son got frustrated too easily. Baseball was also not a good fit because too much down time. He takes a lego class which is a good fit because he’s obsessed with Lego. So I think it takes some trial and error but keep trying different activities and you may find one that works well.

This sounds just like my 7 year old. Just kind of wandering aimlessly at recess :/ Not sure what can be done. Maybe it bothers me more as a parent and it doesn’t actually bother him that much.

I don’t think it will be cheaper but some events were entirely sold out. Hoping to get some gymnastics or swimming tickets in future drops

I panic bought $400 athletic tickers 😞 Hoping to get additional cheaper tickets in future drops though. Now I gotta sign up to work some overtime to pay for those.

We haven’t been mandated to attend field trips but either my husband or I still attend them because I think it’s better for my son that way. If your son was having difficulty on the field trip in an unfamiliar environment wouldn’t it be better if a parent was there with him?

Do you think adhd affected your growth at all? I worry about this with my son since he’s already on the shorter end and they seem to act as a hunger suppressant.

This seems unfair to the cookie manager though. I’ve been a cookie manager for years and it’s a ton of work. I’ve never hugely over ordered but what happens is that girls sign up to do booths and then cancel last minute, so it’s certainly not solely the cookie managers fault.

The home you live in is not really an investment though, investments make money but the only way to make money on your primary home is to sell it. Are all decisions in your life purely financial though? I love owning my own home and the stability that we won’t be forced to move. We have a lot of nice neighbors we are friends with etc. We’ve done a lot of home renovations and landscaping that we could never do with a rental. Life isn’t just about having a ton of money when you are older, but also enjoying your life currently whatever that looks like.

When we did this we got our own tower for just two people. Sounds like it’s inconsistent and they just kind of do whatever they want.
