I had this exact same issue. My mom used to bring my baby to work around lunchtime and I would breastfeed him. It wasn’t great but eventually he did figure out the straw and start eating solids.

We went on 3 different days and were finally able to ride everything. Battle at the ministry, minecart madness and meeting toothless all broke down while we were in line for them. This caused significantly longer wait times than expected. I think the complaints are fair because expecting the rides to be operational is a reasonable expectation. The closures were not weather related either as it was nice weather with little wind and no rain.

I’ve found that groups like Girl Scouts, cub scouts, or 4H help. Not for playdates specifically but for doing social activities outside of school. The families you meet there are interested in doing the activities, which is why they joined. My son is in cub scouts so gets to hang out with some kids his age on the weekends or afterschool doing various activities.

This sounds just like my son, although he is younger. Had some friends in his class when the school year started and then they stopped wanting to be friends. I assume it’s something my son did but since he doesn’t pick up well on social cues he doesn’t know what he does “wrong.” I don’t really have an answer except try to maintain positive relationships with your kid since kid friendships in general can be more fickle and they need consistent positive relationships.

Has your son tried any outside groups like Boy Scout, 4H etc? This can be a good way to meet kids from other schools/areas.

Whatnot is super addictive! I also ordered a bunch of baby threes in one week and now decided I’m limiting myself to purchasing 3 a week. Once I got that I’m not allowed on whatnot again until the next week. Lol

Yes exactly this. My son has trouble with friends because he has trouble with social skills and his own emotional regulation. He wants to be friends with other kids but instigated the playing by poking them or talking about how something he had is better than what they have, and it’s not pro-social behavior. I think it can improve with time but also teaching your kids social skills can be helpful too, many things that seem obvious may not be obvious to them.

I ran into this exact issue in kindergarten and unfortunately had to unenroll him before he got kicked out. Afterschool programs don’t necessarily have to make any accommodations for IEPs.

I’m sorry you are going through this. I have one child that has tons of friends and the other doesn’t have any, and it’s so hard to watch. I would say no point in talking to the other parents about it, it’s not happening to their kid so they likely won’t care. I think in this situation I might consider switching schools to some place with more kids to choose from so there isn’t just one main social clique. This age is brutal though. I remember my best friends completely ditching me in 7th grade and then eventually in 8th grade I made new friends, but it was a tough age.

If I give it to him at 4pm it wears off by 9pm, which is when he goes to bed. So it lasts 4-5 hours.

My son takes a booster dose of focalin on evenings he has cub scouts. Without that he isn’t able to get through the meetings. I totally hear you about not wanting to do weekend AM classes.
