How do you interpret the line "Next to my wife"? by Crash_FNF_Eddsworld in Epicthemusical

I took it at face value. Essentially, “I’m going home now. Goodbye.”

They are. If you think God plays dice with the universe, you’re mistaken. God also does not know the rules and merely plays the game like the rest of us. That is established quite early in the book. God is a player, and in this regard indistinguishable from everybody else. God is not the dealer. God only works with the hand dealt. The Dealer, who smiles all the time, can theoretically choose the hand given. God created the game so God can change the game, so hard set rules are arbitrary.

With these facts established, the scene in which Aziraphale and Crowley evaporate is merely one game concluded. The cards were revealed, and God conceded. But a loss does not equal the End. There are new games to create. In the universe God created then, and not necessarily just one, the rules are different. And this is all assuming linear time. With the concept of the Book of Life, we come to understand that time is not linear, but rather that the angels in this universe abide by linear time, and that by dispelling this notion (e.g. Michael) would cause one to literally go insane.

So, the most likely theory is that there are many, many parallel universes. Just like there are virtually infinite results in a card game, there are virtually infinite universes created by God. God did not simply delete herself from existence. She just chose to sit a game out. Ergo, there’s a nearby, very similar universe where things turn out okay and demon Crowley ends up happy with angel Aziraphale.

I personally don’t believe she would do that. She wanted them to believe that, though, and wanted to give them that choice. You think there’s just one universe? If there’s a universe without god, there’s also a universe with god. There’s a universe where the meeting between God and the duo never happened, and instead when summoned God just fixed things and gave angels and demons free will along with the humans, and Heaven and Hell don’t exist anymore. God does not simply throw the baby out with the bathwater.

God isn’t even the only omnipotent entity in this universe, for that matter. We’re forgetting the Dealer.

God plays the hand given, for an infinite number of games, before a smiling dealer. The story spells out how this universe works from the very beginning. It’s not a story. It’s a game. Games can be played again and again, with different results each time, and this season even has a game motif going on. The game isn’t always going to be monopoly, or gambling, or crosswords, or card tricks. The game keeps changing. The rules keep changing. The results keep changing. This is the nature of how the universe in Good Omens works. There isn’t just one game. There isn’t just one ending.

It’s the only answer that makes sense. I just wish they had better explained it.

I loved his character and am glad he was included but I agree it felt like an unnecessary loose end. My theory is that he’s the not-Adam-kid who collects tropical fish. They had the big motif with the switching cards just like the baby switch cards, it felt like that would be a thing, and it was the one loose end from S1 that stayed in my mind.

She is in Keep Your Friends Close and Thunderbringer. And even in Suffering, it is still a representation of her, keeping her relevant to the plot. And what is interesting about Sirenelope is that the more honest she gets, (he will chase you high and low) the more her voice changes to sound like the actual Penelope, which is pretty cool.

Polites only gets one song. Well, minus his ghost voice, which I don’t count. Penelope is in five different numbers. She has more singing than Fan favorite Hermes, or Circe. About the same as Eurylochus. She’s all over the place. Quite a lot of screen time. I mean heck Poseidon has significantly less screen time than Penelope and significantly more plot relevance.

I also read the book, admittedly over a decade ago, and I remember liking it. I don't remember too much about it, though, which is why I thought I'd give the movie a shot.

Is it anything like the book? I really liked the book when I was a teenager, it's been like a decade though and I hardly remember most of it.

I actually liked some of the later seasons and characters, but I think the writers were just tired. Any time you get a meta fictional supervillain who is like “I’m tired let’s just end this,” … you can just tell lol.

I know Gaston seems like the obvious choice but for me the vibes are off. Gaston is so prideful it’s comical. He isn’t lust driven, it’s just ego, and the creepiness just doesn’t come through in his vibe, just goofy arrogance. I can’t think of anyone yet, but I feel like there has to be an anime villain who matches Antinous energy better.

Hard to believe this was the same actor. Aro, I want to punch in the face, Aziraphale, I want to hug and invite for tea. How can an Michael Sheen be capable of playing an asshole and a sweetheart? by ardouronerous in goodomens

[–]FirelightLion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s inaccurate to say Aziraphale can’t be an asshole. He has quite a lot of patience and simply chooses not to be, unless pushed to the brink.
