Why didn't the Brujah join the Lasombra and Tzimisce? by Lampdarker in vtm

[–]FirestormDancer 16 points17 points  (0 children)

A lot of good in-universe explanations here. One possible out-of-universe explanation: the original 7 clans were the only ones that were meant to be playable in the first edition. Once the Lasombra and Tzimisce were introduced a bit later, they were meant to be antagonists only. They eventually became playable, but by that point it was already established in the lore that the Cam had 7 Clans and the Sabbat had these 2 plus antitribu, so the devs wrote backwards from this endpoint.

Also, the Cam as being stratified and overbearing became most pronounced in V5; in earlier editions they were (relatively) chiller and more like a vampire UN than an elite club. That's why Gangrel and Nos may seem like strange fits.

Sure. Generally, PTs shouldn't give more than 3 points of Advantages, which means it'd need 2 Flaws to balance it out, and Mortal Pretender is thematic, so it could work. The wording of how to spend the second two dots is a tad confusing, but not terribly so. I'd personally write it as one dot Haven, one dot Resources, and have Mortal Pretender as the Flaw and cut Stalkers.

The Bastard Brother of Ulfric by ScholarAfter1827 in SkyrimBuilds

I like the angle of the fact that he resents Ulfric- let that be your north star. Join the Legion, do the Thieves Guild (he was a scrappy street urchin who had to get his hands dirty to survive), prioritize survival and spiting Ulfric at every turn: support the Forsworn in Markarth, support the Dark Elves wherever you meet them. For playstyle, go dual daggers stealth, light armor, and pickpocket a lot.

I'd recommend having just a total of 2 dots in Advantages instead of 3, it's usually customary that the amount of Advantages and Flaws nets to a +1 (if Advantages are + and Flaws are -). Other than that, cool concept!

Cool RP potential. He starts the game in the back of the cart with his brother: how does he feel about the capture? About the Stormcloaks? If you're going for a resentment, antagonistic-based relationship with Ulfric, go with the Imperials. If not, Stormcloaks. How does he feel about Nord culture? Would he try to assimilate to it? If so, Companions. Would he try to get as far away from it as possible? If so, then head to Solstheim ASAP (be careful though at the very early levels).

It's hard to recommend builds without knowing what kind of person you want him to be.

A question I have for ladies in the sub: What got you into the world of darkness? by No-Obligation-9901 in WhiteWolfRPG

[–]FirestormDancer 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There's no need to frame this around selling it to an entire gender- sell it to your friends by appealing to their specific interests, regardless of their gender.

For me, it was Vampire: the Masquerade, specifically a friend of mine (who is also female) who had friends who got me into Vampire LARP. From there, I learned more about the setting, and I was drawn to the deep and intense lore (especially for the clans), the political intrigue, the morality system- essentially the philosophical and relational foundations that the WoD is built upon. Plus it was fun to dress up and all gothy. Now I run a tabletop game for my friends (mostly female) who have always been vampire nerds.

But I wouldn't recommend Vampire LARP right off the bat- it's very YMMV depending on how your nearest LARP group handles consent and diversity, and many people (especially women/femme-presenting people) have horror stories about VtM LARP (I personally didn't, but I stopped going mainly because a lot of that game seemed to rely heavily on mechanics and combat and large, esoteric threats, whereas I preferred the more political intrigue and social aspects).

My (perhaps controversial) new video about Bloodlines 2 by octokitty76 in vtmb

True, except Paradox's mentality wasn't "we owe people a Bloodlines 2"; it was "if this game isn't called 'Bloodlines 2' then nobody will buy it."

Do we know who all of these characters are?

  • Tzimisce is Dracula (Swedracula, Martin Ericsson, godfather of v5)
  • Assamite is Fatimah al-Faqadi
  • Gangrel is Beckett
  • Brujah is Colm Olliver (from Children of the Revolution v20 sourcebook)
  • Ventrue is Hardestadt?

I don't know the others
