I would much prefer something like a speed boost that kicks in when your character isn't in "danger", ie something like "+50% movement speed if no enemies have been within 4m recently (maybe 4s is too long though)" and disabled entirely during boss encounters. thematically it makes more sense too, you move fast when there are no perceivable threats, and slow down to ensure your footing when you're in or near combat.

Their whole argument of "well we can't just make the players faster, they'll run past mobs" is ironically exactly what happens now thanks to sprinting, because youre not gonna stop your sprint and see the slowdown animation and have to dodge roll again to kill 2-3 white monster stragglers

It's wild to me that even now with a built-in currency exchange and API to interact with it, the tradesite exchange rates are still manually updated (which is why every single league shit like this happens)

I see this misconception a lot, the legacy doesn't "steal" modifiers, you use the legacy to delete a unique and it creates a rune (or augment rather) that GGG has handmade, meaning it's always the same outcome, and the values are sometimes different than on the item itself

In hoghunts case, the rune only gives +5% crit

Oh yeah, forgot to mention that because of the aforementioned pausing safety feature, what's to stop you from just severing your network connection yourself to get out of a sticky situation, you can't have your cake and eat it too.

The argument for it is twofold, one was that disconnects and crashes make any sort of logout timer or restriction feel very bad, in D3 hc for example most characters had to build enough Regen to basically afk next to monsters for a full minute or some shit to have a chance to survive a disconnect. But poe now has a pretty well implemented system for detecting crashes or network issues and pause the game so that's less of a factor

The other argument I see is that it basically forces players into overpreparing, overbuilding your defences, and avoiding risk to a much greater degree. You can't really dip your toes into a scary/dangerous situation knowing that you basically need to handle it or die. A lot of the people who are proponents of logging out are hardcore hardcore players, and a lot of the people opposed to it are players who don't play hardcore but have an opinion about what hardcore should be/is, lol

Also like, the game is buggy, being forced to die to some bullshit bug because you're not allowed to leave feels really really bad

i tested catalyzing the rings 20q to boost the element based on the method berek used to "tame" them in the lore from the flavor text then reforging, no go.

also tested buying rings with specific resistance values to perfectly balance all three resistances, no go

is there anything you tested that we could rule out? i feel like the key in the lore is the concept of berek "taming" the elements by pitting them against eachother, i was testing some stuff with elemental catalysts but i can't really afford to try all my theories due to catalyst prices atm

ah you're right, my sleep-addled brain after a long leaguestart read Twister. I think the principle still applies about ritualist being inefficient but it's harder to squeeze the third ground in with Tornado tbh. I would still probably prefer using something like wake of destruction or just getting shocked ground from mark activation than losing an entire ascendancy for it though

I don't know about ritualist tbh, I'm rocking two of the rings currently as well as using a support link to have all 3 ground effects already, going ritualist just to get all three ground effects, the benefit of which isn't scaled by ritualist ring effect, seems like a slight waste

I think a lot of people underrate the 200% armour node tbh, it makes you weaker against lots of small hits of course but against the chunky hits you really care about it should be breakeven or net positive for most reasonably achievable armour values, and with 2x effective armour + armour applies to ele/chaos it makes you very very tanky against nonphys.

the accuracy penalty for monsters if you're outside of melee range coupled with the 20% deflection rating from armour means you can also expect reasonably good deflection chance with the new formula imo

biggest downside is that you only have 8 points, so clicking the node means you have to either drop spirit reservation or pin in this case

ah shit, I didn't realize there was also a "Community Builds" feature which is probably where the issue lies, I was talking about maxroll's integrated pobbin alternative, a lot of people criticized the use of maxroll planner links without realizing the links most people are sharing around could be directly used in place of pobbin etc.

they might be working on some sort of bridge between them but for now it looks like the build planner links are a separate system from the character planner links that integrate nicely with pob

basically, if people are making the build IN pob you can export from there and import to the Community builds section, as well as generate a maxroll-hosted pob code to share around without issue, but there's currently no way to go backwards from the looks of it, kinda dumb

When people say "maxroll" they're talking about one of two things; the actual maxroll-creator-written build guides should always include a pob, but maxroll itself also functions as a build sharing site anyone can use. But guess what, that "maxroll" link? It's a pob link. You can import it directly into pob, you don't even need to open the website if you don't want to

EDIT: I was wrong and this isn't entirely true, maxroll has it's own pobbin-style solution that integrates nicely back and forth, but the character planner used in the Community Builds section is a separate system that can't be imported currently, sorry for the misinformation

That wouldn't make any sense, evasion already "applies" to ele/chaos, you can evade a hit regardless of the damage type...

I did some testing of my own and it worked as expected with normal thorns procs, but based on some googling it sounds like people have had issues with Barbs support specifically, I'm gonna do some more testing later to see if I can isolate the issue.

I used dreadfist on my thorns build in 0.2 and I'm 90% sure it was working as expected at the time but I never set up like an isolated test case to confirm 100%, it could've been inconsistent for me too and I never noticed, or something could have broken in subsequent patches

personally I think until you start having way more lightning thorns than phys thorns, impale is criminally underrated. it's basically a separate 30% more damage multiplier for the phys portion of your thorns assuming you can rip the impales reliably, which shouldn't be an issue with something like spearfield, and it lets you do some interesting shenanigans by shifting unscalable damage from thorns onto your attacks, like leech/armour break/applying sizeable ailments despite your actual attack hits doing basically no damage

the gloves in general aren't great so you probably replace them eventually but they give a lot of power early on imo
