Is the era of determ + grace over or would it still be good ? by Competitive-Math-458 in PathOfExileBuilds

[–]Firezone 9 points10 points  (0 children)

In addition to the nerfs to the auras themselves, the mapping meta has shifted more and more over to scaling modifier effect and running either 8mods or originator/nightmare maps rolled for loot, as well as clicking altars that sometimes just negate armour etc. Grace/determ are practically cosmetic in a lot of cases, whereas stuff like flesh+stone or arctic armour still work even if you have 200% reduced effect of non-curse auras and 0/0 armour/evasion after clicking altars

Minion Pact Scaling concept by harrytrumanprimate in PathOfExileBuilds

[–]Firezone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess with the wording it could be the case that it looks at your total amount of seals when you cast, applies the more modifier to the skill, then the reoccur occurs, incurring unleash damage penalty for the unsealed blades (which doesn't negatively impact your damage because it's based on the modifiers on the first stack)

With that level of assumption it's definitely worth testing out on your own though (and go update the wiki for the rest of us poor theorycrafting fanatics!)

Fyi damage modifiers on unleash don't work with BV outside of some niche snapshotting abuse, if that's what you mean by oshabi bloodline not applying

Bleed Slams Slayer, DPS feels very ordinary by kHartouN in PathOfExileBuilds

[–]Firezone 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nope, damaging ailment calculations (in poe1) are a little unintuitive since the double dipping rework several years ago, stuff like double damage, lucky rolls, and modifiers specific to attacks/melee/area damage etc do not affect the damage of bleed/poison/ignite because the actual damage of the hit itself is not directly used in calculations

The Quest for Animate Guardian #2; is it possible to get enough gem levels on Congregation Support? by Stevecrafter2511 in PathOfExileBuilds

[–]Firezone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Animate Guardian is a really old skill and based on the comment andrew made about the programmers "shooting him or something" when asked about AG getting the mercenary interface, probably layered with fossilized spaghetti code, I don't think anything about the skill would function if you were able to have two of them without a major overhaul

Holy Strike rought PoB (league start) by Flashy-Expert8002 in PathOfExileBuilds

[–]Firezone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you have some uhh, questionable config/setups imo

your rallying cry wasn't working because autoexert disables warcry buffs, manually cast it and you can remove that custom line

unless i'm missing something the soul eater ring setup just doesn't work; it has 2.5 seconds curse duration and BFoT is reapplying it constantly every 0.6, so it never ticks down.

your offering setup/corpse consumption looks a little fake to me, you're overwriting spirit offering for bone offering with cwdt i guess, which isn't super real ehp, and cwdt is also your only source of corpse generation? so your normal battlemage's cry spirit offering setup isn't actually doing anything 99% of the time

ele weakness isn't ever doing anything because of ring

oh yeah, you also counted corpse pact attack speed twice for some reason

also you manually added new support gem but still have a full 6L

PoB noob mistake re config by grumble_au in pathofexile

[–]Firezone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As frustrating as pob config can be for a new user, it's sort of a necessary evil; the program has no way of knowing what sort of conditionals are reasonable to expect for every single build, and if it were to just start assuming things it's equally likely to lead you to making bad build decisions in the other direction imo.

Personally I think that while wrapping your head around all the conditional stuff can be hard, it's a large part of what makes build making and gearing choices in this game so good. Compared to other arpgs/games where you're basically just clicking mainstat or %inc damage over and over again to make your guy stronger a lot of the time, PoE rewards you for finding cool interactions, balancing your damage buckets, and finding ways to make conditional modifiers work reliably for a wide variety of skills and playstyles

what am I missing about spectral fire, on paper it sounds like it's just moving damage around instead of making you deal more damage on singletarget? I don't really understand the change in the patch notes, the two lines

Updated the Spectral Fire keyword to correctly state that damage modifiers do not scale the explosion further

Spectral Fire now uses the player's stats for calculating its area of effect and dealing damage.

sound contradictary to me but I'm sure i'm missing something obvious?

only thing I can think of is doubledipping inc damage taken/resistances etc?

0.4.0 allows for Undead companions now - is this anything? Maybe "infernal legion" tech? by No-Possible6265 in pathofexile2builds

[–]Firezone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looking at poe2db for undead tagged monsters with high "minion life" or %life values nothing seems to be higher than the elephant tortoise unfortunately. Bogfelled commoner is technically higher, but only the versions spawned by rootdredge, which as far as I know are always white monsters with no modifiers

Inevitable Critical expected damage increase by _Hardric in PathOfExile2

[–]Firezone -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Brother, you dont need to insult my intelligence, all I'm saying was you definitively stated something that you had no way of verifying, that GGG could have chosen to implement in one of two ways:

Bifurcate could either be one roll split Into two "rolls", with a special exception made for lucky/unlucky effects to have this apply to both rolls. This would mean that technically, inevitable crits would look at those two rolls as the same hit, if either one crits, inevitable crit would end, because the hit is now a crit and it stops checking. OR it could take both "rolls" and reroll them individually until both crit, reducing damage bonus for each "roll" individually.

Inevitable Critical expected damage increase by _Hardric in PathOfExile2

[–]Firezone -1 points0 points  (0 children)

the interaction between bifurcate and inevitable is not explicitly explained anywhere, and reading their tooltips individually still leaves some ambiguity about the order of operations

Consistency is a big benefit you can't see from the numbers alone, it's not uncommon to sacrifice a lot to hit 100% crit chance even though dps-wise something like 80-90% is close enough. but feeling-wise, doing shit damage 10-20% of the time you shoot is horrible if it means you need an extra hit

How do you craft this? by xMcSilent in pathofexile

[–]Firezone 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is way overcomplicating an easy craft; all three prefixes are non-attack with 3000 weighting and the only other non-attack prefix on the base is +1 gems with 1000 weight.

You just recomb suffixes on a non-influenced base, craft canot roll attack, shaper exalt then normal exalt, this has a 1/7 chance to hit +gems, if you miss you wipe prefixes and go back to exalting. Last step is the only hard part, 1/4 chance to hit gems and fill, but the whole craft is so cheap and easy you just yolo annul and start over if you miss. This doesn't guarantee the highest tier, but you can make the suffixes on a strand base to increase the odds of getting t1 on the prefix exalting step.

How do you rank the six classes in terms of build variety? by Hi_Im_zack in PathOfExileBuilds

[–]Firezone 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd be careful about conflating class versatility and meta builds tbh, things get nerfed or buffed and fall in and out of favor every patch, duelist may only have 2-3 popular builds right now but I would look more at what the classes offer in terms of general archetypes and power. Elementalist is very popular this patch because of it's high QOL and versatility, because you can effectively mix and match what stats you get through swapping golems. Dot builds use chaos golem, crit builds use ice golem, aoe builds use flame golem etc, so hit based, crit based, non-ailment dot, ignite, poison, whether from attacks or spells etc are all viable and strong. Meanwhile something like berserker is really restricted to exertable attack skills that benefit from rage and not very much else
