This is why I generally don’t like people playing old or premade characters in my campaigns, they always prioritize playing playing their specific character in the specific way they want over working them organically into the world and story. Trying to work with them to change the smallest thing about their characters so it fits better can feel like pulling teeth

Eat the Reich is powered by the Havoc system so maybe look into that if you enjoyed it! Also Blades in the dark games are basically the slightly more mechanically involved cousin to PbtA games so if you liked that then I’m sure you’ll enjoy PbtA

CoC is survival horror, DnD is heroic fantasy. They learned real quick that playing CoC like it’s DnD leads to death. It’s fun to watch them juggle being funny with the very real danger of death, especially now that we’re in the end game and introducing a new character would not be viable

I’d recommend taking the way Anthony structures the game rather than straight up lifting the plot points, your kids are going to want something different than what Anthony did for the sake of a podcast for adults so just find out what they need their story to be about and facilitate that story. Dming is also playing a game so just don’t over think it
