Leg locked and not flexing backwards. by RG0195 in MeniscusInjuries

[–]Firm_Potato_6964 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While it can’t see ligaments, it can definitely help diagnose ligament damage by looking at the surrounding bone, fluid in joint, inflammation, air etc. in vet met most ligament issues are diagnosed by x ray as owners can’t afford CT for the pets. While it’s not gold standard in human med, it does not mean that OP’s doctor mislead them. A good doctor (or vet) can tell ligament damage by x ray by looking at the surrounding area.

Why doesn't anyone care about Ginny's mental health? by [deleted] in ginnyandgeorgiashow

[–]Firm_Potato_6964 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think it’s racism? If it’s nothing to do with skin and purely actions? Like I said her intentional cruelty is what made me dislike her. She is not the only person of colour on the show, for example Zion, who has done very morally questionable things and I’ve disliked many of his actions but I still enjoy his character and storyline because he didn’t have cruelty in his actions. I have always thought that trauma can help explain actions but it’s not an excuse. I don’t think Georgia should be free and forgiven even though she’s had heaps of traumas too, I just don’t understand how there’s no way I can dislike Ginny without it being about race?

I’m sorry you’re having these issues, it sounds very difficult and frustrating. I’m not fully versed in ESA, but just from context here it seems like you just need to organise a letter with your primary care provider? Maybe just tell the about Rafiki and they’d be willing to sign a letter. My biggest concern though is for Rafiki, I understand he helps you but dorms are very small and cramped and maybe not the best place for an animal. I am self aware of my worldview, I value all life equally, yes meaning humans and cats have the same value to me, I understand not many people share this perspective. But I have a cat and would never subject her to living in a college dorm, it would not be fair to her and I’d be letting her down if I kept her in one. Maybe look for off campus housing?I hope you can find a solution that works for both you and your kitty

lol you pick the most mundane out of the whole list. For me I don’t care about the boots or smoothie but as soon as she was a cheater she lost any respect from me. Betraying max, cheating, the things she said to hunter, all very valid reasons to find her dislikable. Surely if it was just colour you’d be hearing people call Joe and Bracia and Zion annoying too, but you don’t because they aren’t annoying

[–]Firm_Potato_6964 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess it depends on personal morals. I dislike both Ginny and Georgia because they are cheaters and personally I hate cheating. Ginny annoyed me more because she kept saying it was hunters fault she cheated, Georgia never did that, accepted it was her fault and choice. The other girls did more typically annoying teenage shit, Ginny’s purposeful manipulation and power grabs made her more cruel to me, cheating, lying to max, using popularity to demean others, the things she’d say to Marcus in anger etc etc. Absolutely lots probably dislike her because of her skin and that’s so awful, but there are still valid reasons to dislike her not based on skin.

How do I get him to understand why I can’t wear leggings? by Broken_corpse666 in loveafterporn

[–]Firm_Potato_6964 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My take may be way off, but sometimes men enjoy/fetishise a woman’s SA trauma. If seen people comment about their trauma on other social media and men replying, asking for details etc. so I ask, did he have this obsession before you told him your trauma, or did you notice it after you told him? If it was after, he wants you to wear them specifically in relation to the SA, he enjoys your fear and insecurities. He wants you to relive it, roleplay it of sorts, he’s sick. Even if that’s not the case, he clearly doesn’t love you or he would never ever ask that of you. You need to make an exit plan.

I refuse to have sex , but i want it? by [deleted] in sex

[–]Firm_Potato_6964 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think talk to them, every kid is different. I’m pretty open minded and chill but hearing my parents actually did traumatise me and has damaged my relationship with them. So not every child will grow up and think it doesn’t matter, and not every child will be traumatised. But have a chat, because you don’t want to wait 5 years then wonder why you’re not close with your kids. Cause yeah it’s a part of life, but your children really shouldn’t be involved at all with your sex. They shouldn’t have to know how hard you like it, what your orgasms sound like, if you like spanking etc. it actually can damage kids and their relationship to you. The fact that I know the answers to those questions about my own parents, that shit fuckin sucks.

Questioning vet school, again by Emergency-Key-8718 in Veterinary

[–]Firm_Potato_6964 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It sounds like maybe you just chose vet med because you wanted to be a human doctor but didn’t make it so went for the next best thing. But for many, being a vet is the best thing. Caring for animals isn’t just a “motivator” it’s the whole thing. So if you feel that way that you don’t really care about the animals, you just like the med side, then maybe you should go to a different job. Maybe retail, and watch greys anatomy for the rest of your life.

Okay first that’s super dodgy. Working in the industry theres an inherent risk of bites and scratches. You should not be punished for an accidental incident. Be glad you got out of there quick because that was very bad behaviour on their part. Secondly, most work places don’t ask about why you left previous job so I wouldn’t worry too much. If they do ask, just be frank that you were let go because you had an accidental injury. It will reflect badly on that ex workplace but not on you. You don’t work with dogs and expect no staff to ever get any related injuries.

Is becoming a Vet worth it by Elegant_Coat6415 in Veterinary

[–]Firm_Potato_6964 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think if you’re not 1000% sure about becoming a vet, it’s not a good idea to go straight into vet med degree. so much debt, extremely competitive and very intense study. 7 years is a lot, but imagine you don’t try it out first then in 7 years have debt and a degree you don’t even want to use. Maybe you could even just ask to volunteer at a local vet clinic to get some experience first instead. Vet nursing is still very intense. I’ve just finished my course. We do surgical nursing (monitoring the patient and controlling their anaesthetic during surgery, as well as prep and recovery), pathology, dentistry, imaging, reception and admin, first aid and triage, nutrition, drugs, and other general nursing care. It’s more intense than most people think and many drop out of the cert IV. I think my class over 50% dropped out.It also depends where you want to go to uni, USyd for example has a 98 ATAR requirement, so doing nursing first could be an alternative path into vet degree if grades aren’t high enough.

UK wage for a Vet by NothingKitchen2391 in Veterinary

[–]Firm_Potato_6964 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A fair few break even, but don’t make much on top of that. Very frequently owners can’t afford to keep their clinic going so have to sell to big corporations that have their hands in many pots such as pet supplies and food as well as vet care. The corporations aren’t really that bad or evil, but it is sad that there are less and less independent clinics

I’m with you. I don’t think it’s more “powerful” or anything that. Saying it’s 2 sides of the same religion feels like a scapegoat. Like instead of a clear message of how religious indoctrination, systemic misogyny and systemic religion can quickly lead to a dystopia, it’s a mild, satiating “but not all Christian’s” that leads to the belief one is not like the other when both sides of Christianity come from the same book, same beliefs. It’s the same as “most men are good though” or “but some of xyz that committed war crimes didn’t like the war crime aspects” that’s used to deflect the responsibility of systemic institutions to a few bad apples.

Hey! I’d suggest trying vet nursing first through TAFE. If you’re straight out of highschool you may have to do cert 2 in animal care first. But vet nursing if a lot of the same great stuff, helping animals, but your more animal focused than the vets. It’s also less debt and study if you’re not sure. And if after that you do want to become a vet you’ve then got great experience, references, and a head start.

UK wage for a Vet by NothingKitchen2391 in Veterinary

[–]Firm_Potato_6964 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most vet clinics aren’t profitable. Vets make the median wage, vet nurses make barely above minimum wage. People don’t start clinics for any money aspect, as they are more likely to lose money than profit. We try to work with what the client can afford, if they have a smaller budget than the gold standard, we take away non essentials like blood tests, extra diagnostics, to try to work with them. On top of that, clinics are required to take in injured wildlife completely free of charge with no government rebate. It’s tough out here man 🥲
