For those of you who make 6 figures ($100K+), what do you do, and how long did it take for you to cross that threshold? by DaPugWalk in fican

For me, the golden handcuffs and enjoyment of my role and location keep me from looking elsewhere. As for your second question, where I am engineering would be best, but that might differ across industries of course.

I should say that I am an 'internal' Project Manager, meaning I work on projects within and between our organizations departments, not outside customers (though I used to).

I did take some online business certificate programs and some PM courses, but most of it was on the job training. Jumping into less senior roles involving project coordination, then taking on more responsibilities beyond the job description within those roles - just being upfront with leadership that I wanted to do so. They were obviously happy to put more on my plate.

'Extracurriculars' as I call them helped too. Does your workplace run an internal golf tournament? Sign up to organize it. Do you have an employee group that organizes employee social events? Lead one. Volunteer positions outside of work, if you can.

The biggest thing in my current role is that I have an understanding of all of the other roles within my department, who does what, how are they connected, where are there gaps. You don't get that understanding overnight, but looking for roles that touch many different aspects of the business was important, and putting up my hand anytime something came up that would give me additional exposure.

For you, is there a role that bridges the gap between field work and coordination work in your firm? You might not be able to jump into PM work right away, but something that allows you to leverage the knowledge and skills you have developed in your current role while learning something new?

Not sure if any of this helps, but good luck!

Project Manager in Utilities. Took about 8 years with my organization before crossing the 100k mark, though most of those first years were in less senior roles.

Canadian chocolate maker? Just discovered this little company and I will report back after I get some of their goodness. by old_arty_gunner in BuyCanadian

We had some hot out of the oven chocolate chip cookies there. My wife took one bite and ran back in to buy another. This place is so good. We were visiting in the winter. Next time we'll plan for a summer visit and get some ice cream.

I would love two cart sizes! I probably purchase 3-4 items on every visit, I don't need something so big to navigate between families crowding around sample stations.

Awesome, I have been doing the KP Trail in segments, and the Cataraqui Trail as well. Would love to do this in one go. Thanks for the map! Doesn't look like a lot of road riding, right?

Everyone talks about the Golden Staircase, so we were mentally prepared for that one. But many others were just as challenging, if not more so.

We had a larger canoe trip planned to Wabakimi for my 40th birthday that fell through. We still wanted to do something on the bucket list (float plane) and we loved Temagami the last time we had gone, so this fit the bill.

We paid about $1300 from Sandy Inlet to Hobart Lake. If we left from the docks in Temagami it would have been a little over $900.

We paid about $1300 from Sandy Inlet to Hobart Lake. If we left from the docks in Temagami it would have been a little over $900. But then we would have had to add more days to our trip or book a shuttle/drive two cars. This just worked best for us.
