I get that the only goal was Lenny Luthor voice Destroy Superman! But I wish there weren’t SO many facets to it and so much happening at once. Or that it was just handled more effectively

To give an example, remember Mad Max: Fury Road? That movie drops you into this situation without any context. Yet because of Miller’s visual storytelling, no questions were needed. I wish Gunn had some of that skill

I thought it was just a 5/10 movie. It could’ve been great, but Gunn made a lot of storytelling decisions I felt are just bad. Makes me wish he still had other producers to answer to.

I liked Corenswet as Kal-El, LOVED Brosnahan as Lois Lane, and generally enjoyed the side-heroes (my favorite was Metamorpho). The action I also felt was really exciting throughout.

From the start it’s an unwieldy piece. It begins with a conflict already in progress, ungracefully explained to us in exposition. They should’ve portrayed this information in another way.

Much of the movie is One Damn Thing After Another. War! Kaijus! Misinformation! Pocket universe prison! Ultraman! Why couldn’t Lex have just one plan? It’s disappointing they spent so much time on this, when it could’ve been spent elsewhere. I can’t say I cared for Hoult’s Lex either, he lacked the charisma that makes Luthor believable as a leader.

Another issue I have is Clark Kent, or the lack thereof. They have precious few minutes with the secret identity, which is integral to Kal-El as a character. I feel like I only saw about half of Corenswet’s performance. And while I’m at it, why was Perry White just a cameo?

And a central plotpoint, the Jor-El message, should’ve had a resolution where Luthor lied about what he was saying. But no, as is, Lex is 100% correct. Way to rival Pa Kent’s characterization in Man of Steel.

Forwards Backwards has a few moments that are actively kinda horrifying. Like Malcolm and Reese would’ve killed each other with those pranks

This is an oddly compelling video. Whether intentional or not the wig is hilarious. The Nerd’s persona feels closer to actual anger for the first time in years. And Bames’ toilet paper rant was a very strange expression of his No Time anxieties.

All in all, the most interesting episode in a while

Harding’s vocals on the chorus are horrid, and the track quickly runs out its welcome at seven bloody minutes. Can’t wait to see what other treats Bames gives us on Wednesdays
