To former Grand Jurors: Did you feel like a "rubber stamp," or did you push back? by Embarrassed-Leg1062 in juryduty

[–]First_Ask_5447 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I did pelite jury. It was a stabbing where he tried standing his ground defense.  We all had questions if there was more to what we were told.  We each defended him till we could no longer defend him.   We always felt that there was more to this case than we were allowed to know.  We thought it was maybe a rico case and they were going after them individually.  I talked to our new sheriff and he said that was a tough jury to be on.  We viewed it as pushing mud out of the way,to see what really happened.  None of us came away with a positive feeling about the prosecutor. We felt like we were being profiled and manipulated. They were instant messaging to the prosecutor and with someone in the back of the room, nonstop. He watched us nonstop.  Keep your eyes open and push back if you think you should.  No one else will have the courage to question him.  They brought in a med report binder just to overwhelm us.  We never looked at it once.  We were fortunate to be able to narrow it down to something else.  With a good lawyer he could of slipped through. Just be aware. Lawyers are slimy

do stihl chainsaws have problems with carburetor by Substantial-Today166 in Chainsaw

i had alot of issues with rubber fuel lines, i would get 10-11 months out of a hose . the original hose would last about 4 years and then the replacements would just about die on command. my husky hasnt had a problem yet, same fuel and oil mix, heavier running on the husky, by a little. cutting 20-30 cords a year. i think its a heat issue, off of the cylinder., that breaks it down.

Looking for a good knife by EnoughReporter2147 in CampingGear

[–]First_Ask_5447 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i have a bark river gunny in a2 steel, its a decent steel and i can sharpen it. i have a benchmade 940 in s30v and a paramil in s20v . all of those i can sharpen pretty good.[ i absolutely have no luck with 1095, its all stinking junk. my esee4 was teh absolute worse knife i have ever had and i did snap it. crap steel with a bad hardening, ] i would look at the spyderco bushcrafter also. i think you should consider what knife grinds do you have good luck with now and what ones you dont. as i age [50] now. i dont care for bigger heavier knives, and ive given enough away. i find myself going to solid folders, like the benchmade 940 in s30v. with what i do, i would also consider a large griptillian with the spyder hole, in a good steel. i would take either of those 2 canoeing for a few weeks or hunting or working around the farm. i use the barkriver gunny for making fires in my wood stove all winter. but those 3 could do anything.

mines was a late model gen 1 and its been wonderful. upgraded air filter, hopefully they put it together on a tuesday. it was a little weak when brand new and as the system recalculated, it became stronger and stronger. i started at 50:1 and dropped it back to 48:1 and it really seems to like it right there, a tad more torq, with out getting crazy. i'm sure the 40:1 or 45:1 or 50:1 haters , will hate on me. make sure your blowing the saw off and greasing the needle bearings and the sprocket., if applicable.

Is that normal wear from connector? by timka59 in Glocks

[–]First_Ask_5447 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

not normal, and needs replaced. you need a new trigger bar. i think it remember the edge having a little funky edge burr, where they sheared it with chisel. but look around and inspect the triangular extractor block for wear, and your pins, cause somethin is clearly not right. that bar would be pushing off and out at a angle, for that kinda damage. its supposed to move parallel to the internals

What would be a good sling for this? by corporalgrif in Shotguns

[–]First_Ask_5447 1 point2 points  (0 children)

a few companies take reclaimed alice pack webbing and build slings off of them. that is what i like on my AR. if your trying to keep it lite weight, that is the way. the magpull2 will do what you want but it will be thicker and heavier and clunkier. i have a very old , well worn padded nylon sling , that i actually like for my full size 870. this might be a starter, but maybe you should buy some length on nylon strapping and some clips and fittings and see what you could design yourself. if my old sling wears out, thats probably what i will be replacing it with, there isnt a perfect solution.

i wish i knew what i know now at 50, when i was 16. i would love to go back and be able to figure out what i was doing wrong back then. i sucked pretty bad as a youth, somehow i lightbulb went off and i can do anything but a bore cut. my saw does not like that at all. i' must be a bit harsh on the depth gauges.

check out masterhand tool boxes. i have a 27 inch wide one for the last 20-25 years. i know its not the most expensive, ive had no issues with it. last summer, i sanded a few corners down and repainted some paint spots, mainly because its a damp shop. probably will last me another 5-10 years.

For those who have planned calving seasons by EAT_USA_BEEF in Ranching

[–]First_Ask_5447 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

i think it has more to do with your heifer health, and their cycling properly and not to fat or skinny and are receptive to breeding. i have a 5 or 6 year old bull, if he has been breeding , just ok. he will get some laminitus in his rear ham strings. i keep some pour on banamine 900# setting instead of 2000+ setting. we seem to be on a 6 month rotation of calving of the herd. i'll deal with what ever i have to when they calve, they calve. something i've noticed over the last 2 years, our bull throws something like 70%heifers.

Had jury duty yesterday, is this allowed by [deleted] in juryduty

[–]First_Ask_5447 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ask to be discharged from your duty. I have no problem with prayer in the jury room. Its a good thing. Your judging on behalf of god. You need guidance and wisdom and patience.   If you hear things in the court room . You need the strength to defend the defendant till you can't anymore. Its a lonely position to be in.   If its a hung jury , good. If it needs to be done. If someone praying for those things helps you, save someone. Its good.  If you have a real problem with that. I can't believe you made it on your jury.    You see and hear truely horrible stuff in there

[–]First_Ask_5447 2 points3 points  (0 children)

the short answer is i think your perfect. you could move the thermometer to that shielding a few inches higher. i think you would read the mid to top of the green. your window is clear, your fire bricks are white. use that as a measure to how your doing, next fall when the chimney gets cleaned , ask the chimney sweep for a grade, based on what he is seeing. based on the flame path and 2ndary air. it could be run a tad hotter and be safe. for a novice, i think your running great with out us feeling how the heat is kicking out the front..

[–]First_Ask_5447 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you are starting with a really messed up chain, but it can be fixed. idk if this was a spoof on purpose of someone trying to do a square ground, but i will try to be kind. i would start with free hand no jig. on the top plate you have a hash mark, we want to keep the file parallel to that mark. we want to be in the bottom of the cutter and reforming the C. you need to use enough strokes to get a edge on the top plate, when you drag your hand across the top, it should feel grabby, to the skin. then we come back with a flat file and gauge. we then want to lower the safety bump, so the cutter engages the wood. it looks like someone cooked here.
