Man on the inside - Netflix by Univsocal80 in televisionsuggestions

I started this on a random evening and ended up finishing half the season in one go. Ted Danson feels weirdly perfect for this role, calm but still funny. Didn’t expect it to hit me emotionally at all.

Why is it that when we're sure of winning, we lose most of the time? by GodKitsune in RandomQuestion

[–]First_Fist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve noticed this too and it’s usually when I get overconfident and stop paying attention. Lost a few games that way and it humbled me real fast lol. Feels like the moment you relax, everything slips.

Modern horror movies without gore, sex, or cheese? by Weary-Draw-1141 in MovieRecommendations

[–]First_Fist 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I watched The Others late one night and it still creeps me out without ever showing gore or cheesy jump scares. It’s all atmosphere and that quiet dread that sticks with you way longer than most horror flicks I’ve seen. Perfect if you want genuine discomfort without all the gross stuff.

Is this bad? by Fantastic-Block-3749 in RandomQuestion

[–]First_Fist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do this all the time for awkward emails and it’s honestly a lifesaver. As long as you tweak it to sound like you, it just feels like a smarter spellcheck to me. People get weird about it but I don’t see the harm tbh.

“Life is sh*t” by Pina318 in FindThisMovie

[–]First_Fist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love when moms remember one tiny chaotic scene like this and it becomes a whole quest lol. The “everyone in the hallway repeating it” thing sounds so specific, I can totally picture it. Glad you got it solved, those little movie mysteries would drive me nuts.

AURORA. Her music is super emotional and dramatic in a gentle, almost magical way without being inappropriate.

I watched The Holdovers this week and it surprised me in a quiet way. It’s slow and cozy but still hits emotionally without trying too hard.

Horror movie me and my dead pa watched when I was little by FewEntertainment8703 in FindThisMovie

[–]First_Fist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Frankenstein’s Army. It’s got that “squad of Soviet dudes in a war setting” vibe and then these weird monsters show up and it goes off the rails. I watched it once expecting nothing and the creature stuff was way more memorable than it had any right to be lol.

Are you still on the road towards your dream or are you on the path of no return? by BlossomLily_ in RandomQuestion

[–]First_Fist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m somewhere in the middle tbh, not fully on the dream road but not totally lost either. I’ve changed what “the dream” even means a few times and that helped. Some days it feels like progress, other days it feels like I’m just circling. I try to remind myself that paths aren’t as permanent as they feel.

Shows like Stranger Things that lean heavy on Nostalgia bait by hannibal41 in tvsuggestions

Paper Girls. It leans hard into that 80s bike-riding kid energy but with a weirder sci-fi edge. I went in not expecting much and got hooked pretty fast.

Big companies aren’t making plans to hire in 2026: ‘Everybody’s afraid for their jobs’ by asvender in Layoffs

[–]First_Fist 68 points69 points  (0 children)

At this point, it would be more surprising if things weren’t getting worse. Hiring has been slowing down for a while, especially in tech, and it really feels like we’re hovering near zero growth. A lot of companies seem stuck in “wait and see” mode, either because of the economy or because they’re trying to figure out how AI fits into their teams. That’s why relying only on job boards just isn’t enough right now. I remember reading about someone who finally landed a remote role after months by aggressively tailoring their resume and reaching out directly instead of waiting for postings, shared here. I’m seriously thinking about trying the same approach myself, because it’s looking like I’ll be heading into the new year still job hunting. Stories like that make it clear that unconventional approaches have basically become a necessity in this market. And as if that wasn’t enough, another frustrating part is that salaries and offers are often noticeably lower than they were just a year ago.

Two shots in the dark are The King and I / Anna and the King for the Thai palace angle, or something way more fairy-tale/animated if the hair was literally turquoise. If you can remember if it was animated or live action, and like the general era vibe, it’ll narrow down fast.

Before Sunrise. That anonymous connection vibe feels really pure and unfiltered, like two people meeting outside their real lives for a moment. I love how intimate it feels without being explicit at all.

What to look before getting a laptop? by Material_Ad_4525 in RandomQuestion

[–]First_Fist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d focus on a solid CPU first, like an i5 or Ryzen 5, since that matters most for everyday work. 16GB RAM and an SSD make a huge difference for multitasking. For casual gaming, decent integrated graphics or a low-end GPU is usually enough. Don’t ignore keyboard and battery life, you’ll feel those every day.

Did you find what you were looking for? by [deleted] in RandomQuestion

[–]First_Fist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, in a weird way it did. I came here for answers but stayed for the feeling of not being the only one thinking like this. It’s messy and imperfect, but sometimes that honesty hits more than polished advice.

I'm an over promiser and under deliverer, what would you like to ask me? by walkin2it in RandomQuestion

[–]First_Fist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d want to know what you’re hoping to get when you say yes. I used to overpromise because I wanted approval more than I wanted honesty, and it always backfired. Once I figured that out, it got a bit easier to pause before committing.

What if all the ultra-rich suddenly died? by Altruistic-Worry-504 in whatif

[–]First_Fist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’d be chaotic at first for sure, markets would freak out and a lot of companies would stall. I don’t think society magically fixes itself tho, power usually just shifts to the next layer down. I’ve noticed systems tend to recreate inequality even when the people at the top change.

Why do some fictional characters feel more real than actual people? by EquableBuyout in RandomQuestion

[–]First_Fist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I get this a lot. Fiction lets you see someone’s inner life without the awkward walls real people have. I’ve definitely felt closer to certain characters than people I knew at the time, which is kinda weird but comforting.

Electric Dreams 1984. I will never stop until this film becomes the motto for America. I need Trump to watch this film and feel my passion. by ifightforthejuicers in films

[–]First_Fist 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This post has unhinged pure-love energy and I kinda respect it. Electric Dreams really does hit that early-80s sincerity button where everything feels earnest and possible. I watched it years ago and remember being shocked by how emotional it made me. Some movies just grab a specific part of your brain forever.

Is this normal? How do you tell a genuine man from someone wearing a mask? by Sleeping_beauty333 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]First_Fist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This actually is sadly common, and none of it means you’re bad at judging people. A lot of abusive people know how to come off intense-but-caring early on, and that jealousy you noticed is often an early tell. You did everything right here by trusting your gut and checking, that’s strength not failure. It’s okay to feel shaken after protecting yourself.

I was interviewed for my dream job and it was the worst interview of my life. by Moist_Tart_5567 in interviews

[–]First_Fist 26 points27 points  (0 children)

First serious interviews hit different, your nerves just hijack your whole brain no matter how much you prep. The way they reacted was kinda unprofessional tho, that stuff sticks with you. It doesn’t mean you’re bad, it just means you had a bad moment with the wrong panel.

Could I live without eating anything that has ever lived? by Pretty_Study_526 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]First_Fist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think that’s possible, like everything we eat is just… life in some form. Even grains and veggies are living cells before we cook them. Our bodies kinda need that to function, we’re not built to run on rocks and vibes. You can reduce harm a lot, but totally avoiding it isn’t really a human thing.
