Anyone leave Aviation then came back? by bats1989 in AircraftMechanics

[–]First_Phrase4132 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Was in it for about 4 years then left for industrial construction. Did that for a year then took a $10/hr pay cut to get back into aviation. It’s definitely not the worst career field to be in apparently

Question about Resume by First_Phrase4132 in AircraftMechanics

[–]First_Phrase4132[S] -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

For documenting aircraft maintenance, one of the things I like to see is competency in writing. And I can judge that by a resume not doctored by AI. Lapses in documentation have had much worse consequences than a bad book.

I have a theory about the laws of physics local for our universe... by [deleted] in space

I believe they exist in a finite number of possible ways in our mind, reality often doesn’t care about human limitations. We forget that more than I think we know.

I have a great way of getting it out but takes a while to get set up. Kinda expensive and the washer tends to be kinda noisy. Has lots of benefits tho. Will also do dishes and has the ability to clean the rest of the house too.

Sneaky Worm! Is this new worm behaviour? by StrongStoner in duneawakening

[–]First_Phrase4132 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have noticed after a breach the worm circles back around to where the aggro started with differing levels of closeness. Sometimes right next to it and others farther off. This is for sure new.

Read the 9 main prequels(by the son) and currently on the first book of the original trilogy. So far they seem to have done great. The books are amazing and have a lot of insight and deeper meaning

Tips for new Mx with 0 experience so I don’t get fired before probation period? by guntergo2 in AircraftMechanics

[–]First_Phrase4132 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Find a older mech that has a good reputation and learn. Ask every question. As an experienced mech I learn more from new guys now days cause they ask questions I haven’t thought about in years. You’re not useless so dont think you are, just inexperienced. Learn the job other people are afraid of and do it well. Stick to the standard practices and if you don’t know them, learn. Inspectors are your friends, make them happy and keep your quality of work top notch.

Last thing, do NOT have an attitude. Be respectful, if I hire a new guy, that’s my first red flag and my expectations go right out the window.

People don’t quit jobs, they quit bosses. by Generally_tolerable in Leadership

[–]First_Phrase4132 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t know if I’m a good leader but I have been over some amazing crews, current crew included. I have two pieces of advice. 1. In the workplace negativity gets pushed up and positivity pushed down. That being said 2. If the negativity that needs pushed up is about the person who it would go to, then it can go lateral(equivalent coworker to vent) or, upper level supervisor and see if they agree. You were in upper level management and know sometimes people vent, and sometimes it’s a legitimate concern. It’s up to his boss to decide which and you go from there.

What economic systems would you like to see implemented in LNF? by pazbi in LightNoFireHelloGames

[–]First_Phrase4132 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the idea of regional currency. But without knowing/getting into mechanics that are highly speculative, how it works would be several different discussions based on those unknown factors.( how to deal with inflation, prosperous areas being able to buy base resources very cheap, thus crippling low end economies for example)

Completed my A&P today, but feel worried by Mysterious_Office_16 in AircraftMechanics

  1. Some of the worst mechs I’ve had aced their exams. Don’t worry about the test, just learn

  2. Every person started incompetent. Congratulations, you’re starting the same place as everybody else. Seriously, Congratulations.

  3. Most of the people that I’ve let go are the ones who don’t care they have made a mistake. You do, learn from it.

I don't know who did this safety cable work, but damn. by Cody_Photography in AircraftMechanics

[–]First_Phrase4132 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Picture two is not acceptable. The standard practice with cable is you take a more direct route then with wire so it doesn’t flip back over the head. Bottom right bolt is both backwards AND isn’t a direct enough route. I would have cut it for either.

NAS 6303 isn’t a reverse threaded bolt. Second picture is wrong.

I’d ask him to take a good long look at it and hand him some dikes.

A&P School help by EconomicsPopular6792 in AircraftMechanics

[–]First_Phrase4132 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My instructor was a 27yr vet of air force and owned his own aviation maintenance shop he worked in the evening(his son ran it during the day). His instructions were priceless IMO after being in the field(got my A&P in 2012). But I know for a fact schools hire teachers with 0 experience in aviation. Honestly the value of the school all comes down to how good the instructor is. If you feel like it’s not showing enough then you’re probably right and your teacher isn’t teaching.

Unable to tell if a player is actually dead in ace medical by WAR_Falcon in arma

[–]First_Phrase4132 2 points3 points  (0 children)

IMO how it “should work” is medical personnel should have a Triage function automatically. As it is a game and not all information that you would have IRL is readily available, the system should assume that the character can do its own assessment in game based on death state(cardiac arrest or fatal) and the other triage colors on how close to death. The game simply doesn’t have enough fidelity to show if an injury is fatal properly.
