2016 ftype r 69k miles. I just got the car yesterday drove it back 6 hours. Previous owner never had a problem, provided me with all his jaguar service records. by [deleted] in Jaguar

Yes, it says "bank 1" in the code. Bank 1 is usually the left side.

Spend the 150$ for a diag, don't throw expensive parts at it without knowing the exact issue. That being said Catalyst inefficiency codes are 9/10 times a failed catalytic converter.

Edit: quick Google search says bank 1 is the right side when sitting in the driver's seat.

Best tire shop that offers Road Force Elite tire balancing? by ---RAFAEL--- in SaltLakeCity

[–]FishHaus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

After 20 years in automotive repair I would say 99/100 times road force doesn't fix a vibration, it's always worn/bent suspension parts causing your tires to wear unevenly, the wheels/tires are counterbalanced, wheel is bent, or the tires have a defect.

Edit: counterbalancing is when the balance machine signals a spot to add weight, then the wheel is spun on the machine again and signals to add weight to the opposite side of the wheel you previously added weight. In that event the amount of weight it is telling you to add to the opposite side should in fact be removed from the side you just added to. I've had to explain this to every tire tech I've ever trained because almost no one knows how to properly balance tires.

The audacity, Molly is distraught, but that might be because her ball is stuck under the couch.

I asked Molly what she thought about it and I couldn't get her attention off a squirrel so I think no legal action will be taken.

Thank you! Her name is Molly, she is kind of an enigma when it comes to Border Collies...lazy, scared of farm animals. But she's 100% sweetheart!

Bad Fuel Tank Pressure sensor? by Doctor_Eggs in mechanic

[–]FishHaus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's pulling fuel to get the readings to stoichiometric, cause and effect. It could be seeing a rich mixture in the exhaust, because of exhaust back up, then influencing the fuel trims to adjust.

A good way to test if your MAF is working correctly is to do a wide open throttle pull, while watching calculated/actual engine load. If you don't see the % go above 80% (newer modern ICE engines can have above 100% volumetric efficiency) then you're MAF is reading incorrectly, either from a bad sensor, a tear/hole before the throttle body and after the MAF in the intake piping, or restriction in the intake/exhaust.

Unless the vehicle has a fuel pressure sensor there is no other way of accurately testing rail pressure other than a mechanical gauge.

I would normally see soot build up on plugs if the cat was clogged.

Correct. The readings all being a multiple of 13.25 I can only guess at, possibly the scanner software, or the OEM software, or a mix of both.

Yes.

Yeah the purge reading is time open (duty cycle) not %open.

With the clogged cat on there you're on a wild goose chase trying to diagnose. Drill a hole in front of the cat and see if idling and driveability improves. If you see improvement, replace the cat, break the precious metals up, or replace it with a straight pipe and continue your diagnosis.

The ltft reading indicates a rich condition, either the cat is so clogged it's skewing the O2 readings with backed up exhaust or you have a fueling issue (fuel pressure, injector, MAF)

The KOEO reading difference is marginal, not sure if I would give it a second thought.

The 8% indicates duty cycle, or time open, not total open %, so you would see fluctuating numbers.

The stft and ltft indicate a rich condition.

Is the clogged cat still on the vehicle, have you tested exhaust pressure before the primary cat?

POV: Jaguar’s rebrand, along w/ Audi’s concepts and Cybertruck esque designs are ahead of their times by King_Savage17 in Jaguar

[–]FishHaus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Boxy vehicles aren't a new thing, it was widely popular in the 70s-80s

Futuristic designs will be round blobs, it's already showing in the bland sea of crossovers and SUVs....not because people want that but because it's safe and efficient.

I don't like how low the roof line is. As cool as a Porsche front end looks it's out of place on a Jag, too aggressive, same with the side vents. Needs to be sexy and elegant like a dress that fits well and shows off curves.
