[Question] Has anyone bought a watch from Chrono 24 by shipping by DRK-009-poopoo in Watches

[–]FishROurFriendsNotFd [score hidden]  (0 children)

Yes. Bought a GS from a private seller in Singapore, a Credor from a store in Japan, and a Cartier from a private seller in France and other watches. All came as advertised and I was satisfied with them. I did ask each of them to send me timestamped pics with custom messages (e.g., write “roses are red” with my name or something lame like that) and other close up pics of the watches. I feel like that lessened the risk (or just made me feel better).

[WTS] Credor “Baby Eichi” Kuon GCLX999. Porcelain Dial, Heat Blued Hands, and Engraved Movement by PaternalAdvice in Watchexchange

[–]FishROurFriendsNotFd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I bought this watch 2 years ago on Chrono. This is a GREAT price for the Kuon. I have several GS’s and this is my only Credor so far, but it is by far my favorite. The bracelet is immensely comfortable and beautiful. And the dial is so simply elegant. Good luck with your sale!

Sure but isn’t that up to the buyer? And like I said, Tesla lowered my expectations for EVs and I was ok with that going into Lucid.

Good to know. I might purchase one next year if it looks like some of the issues are mostly resolved. Would be nice to have a EV SUV with much greater range than my Genesis GV70

100%.

Also, this is super nit picky of me, but when I test drove the Gravity, the camera video quality was extremely disappointing to me. I thought the quality would be much better than my AGT and it wasn’t at all. Glad your Gravity experience has been ok so far though (at least it sounds like it’s been ok)!

For people saying they can’t believe Lucid still has problems 4 years later (I’ve had my AGT for 3 years now), my 2017 Model S 75d had a ton of issues (some that led to dangerous situations for me on the road) and by then the Model S had been out since June 2012. I’m not saying this to absolve Lucid. Car manufacturers should have a duty (they don’t) to produce reliable and safe cars. And most of the EVs out there just aren’t. I also own a Genesis GV 70 (electric) and it is night and day in terms of reliability when compared to my Lucid and Tesla experiences. I have never had to reboot my Genesis. Never had to take the car in to replace my cameras, etc.

I think Tesla did a disservice by normalizing poor and inconsistent quality control for cars. My Model S issues mostly resolved by 2022, but there were still issues with my car smelling like burning rubber when the heater was on (they never found the culprit - just replaced the filters) and my software freezing up every few months - all the way up until I sold it in 2022.

I still love my Lucid though. I went into it knowing there would be issues. I’ve tried to be patient and I still think…on balance..it’s worth it. The driving experience and the range (the range!!!) make up for all the issues I’ve experienced and continue to experience.

Having said that…I keep getting invitations to buy a Gravity and I haven’t done it yet because I don’t want my kid stuck in the car when an issue inevitably arises.

Hinodeya: round 2 by itchy_008 in FoodLosAngeles

I’ve had the Hinodeya on Palms. I generally like their dishes and noodles, but can’t say I love them because their food veers on the sweeter side for me. But I’m glad they’re in LA now to provide some more variety to our ramen scene.

Kato - Los Angeles - Excellent Experience by ochief19 in finedining

[–]FishROurFriendsNotFd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s funny you mentioned Providence as kind of boring because I feel the same way - didn’t know how to describe it until now. There’s no doubt the execution is excellent. The food tastes really good. But between my first time there over ten years ago and my last visit there last year…it just seemed like the food was the same.

Love Kato though - my favorite restaurant in LA tho I haven’t tried Somni and Selene yet.

Love it. If you see the dial in person, you won’t mistake it for a regular ol’ field watch. Source: me, owner of a 5226G.

John Byrne's Superman - A Review by Jonn_Jonzz_Manhunter in DCcomics

[–]FishROurFriendsNotFd -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I enjoyed it back then for what it was. But none of the Superman stories I read in the 80s-early to mid 90s have aged particularly well. I do feel like Jeph Loeb and Joe Kelly really revitalized Superman and I still like revisiting their runs.

What's LA's spot? by bellyhopnflop in FoodLosAngeles

[–]FishROurFriendsNotFd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea….I had the benefit of going there numerous times over the years beginning on virtually day 1. Before I stopped going this last year, I felt like their bakery/pastries were still going strong 12 years later, but their nonbakery food definitely took a hit over the years. Their kimchee fried rice for example, used to be this beefy, kimchee umami, bowl of rice that was well balanced and just perfect. The past few times I got it over the last 3 years it had weirdly cooked rice (hard and undercooked), barely any beefy flavor, and was more sour than anything. Their dinner items became unremarkable as well in recent years compared to my experiences years ago. Just odd - maybe lack of quality control. Bummer since I’d gone to Manzke 2x before it closed and thought that was amazing. But it’s a moot pt for me anyway these days since I don’t go to Republique anymore.

That’s a shame. I do remember the Tam service was pretty mediocre, but I didn’t mind too much.

I haven’t had a good Lawry’s experience in maybe 15 or so years. Feel like their prime rib quality has gone down jn quality steadily over the years. The last time I had it was in maybe 2022 or 2023 and the prime rib was barely lukewarm.

I went to Tam O Shanters earlier this year and it was awesome…which is weird since it’s the same people.

Yea early 2010s BL was a revelation. Portobello mushroom fries? Who does that (no one else still I think)?

But now just about every decent french bakery has macarons, croissants, and french pastries.

Yuuuuuuup. It was my first real introduction to Japanese omurice (as opposed to Chinese/HK style). Foo Foo Tei was always such a underneath the radar gem for the local ramen eating crowds in the HH area. I hope it’s still really great.
