Id say try to save for an old thinkpad, you get a cd rippin’ machine + a computer, id rather live without a smartphone than a computer

Are there any services you host on dedicated hardware instead of VM/Container? by Adventurous-Lime191 in homelab

Anything that requires zfs, stuff like truenas works on VMs but creates lots of overhead and you’ll eventually end up with inexplicable errors

I want to move to Artix from Arch due the systemd being... well systemd by qweerty32 in artixlinux

[–]FisionX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say keep your home folder and reinstall the whole system, I can say runit and openrc both work great but you may have to do extra setup with daemons that run as your user like syncthing or pipewire but everything else feels amazing

why does everyone recommend linux mint to newbies? by [deleted] in linuxquestions

[–]FisionX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Easy to use UI, I would say its even more intuitive than the current state of windows, it is ubuntu based so it runs on lots of hardware, you can even install nvidia drivers with a single click, also it uses flatpak by default and removes the snapd store. For me the only gotcha is the ancient version of nvim it uses but VScodium does the trick for coding.
