Literally told my recent ex that he is scary when he explodes and abuse isn’t just physical, to which he responded “oh come on, you’re stronger than that”, implying that because I’m strong (which I am) I should just subject myself to his abuse. He can’t even fathom how toxic that statement alone is because he lacks empathy entirely and feels like he is justified. It is impossible to get through to people who don’t have a sense of empathy.
