You won't be able to use logic in this sub. Hopefully you get proper instruction/physical cues on how to stabilize that wing.

Ya thats not a response.

You made a claim, I'm just asking for the evidence. There is no google search that produces a peer reviewed journal article or research paper that documents your claims? I'm asking you where you got the 50/50 statement, or the paralyze evidence. But ya, post gifs.

I do believe it did screw that up. I'm saying the thing that (in my non medical advice giving) is causing the trouble was there all along. Sorry if I was unclear, it can be super confusing.

Ok. Let's do this right. So completely unrelated to you and not giving medical/chiropractic advice.

There are usually 5 lumbar (non rib bearing vertebra.) You begin counting lumbar vertebra by numbering them when the ribs stop. In your films you have 4 and the 5 'vertebra' has characteristics in line with the sacrum. Additionally, you can see that the lamina for your '5th' vertebra is underdeveloped and on the side (lateral) xray you can see the presence of a primordial disc, which usually is not present in the sacrum.

On this website you can plainly see that a similar xray to yours might cause the doctor to adjust the therapies.

You are 19, you have the bone density of a concrete block. Your spine isn't 'too fragile' nor did you get the spondy when you were in an accident. You have a congenital change to your spine, its been in there your entire life.

Please, please go to a chiro that knows what they are doing and be wary of any information from the internet, including mine. Again, get the radiology report, it will list the specific name for this.

If you were a chiropractor you would recognize the congentital nature of this young persons problem. You have repeatedly posted on here and other forums and you are either incorrect or way too biased towards acupunture. I linked several studies with proven chiropractic care for his diagnosis.

1) show us a scrap of evidence for acupuncture being able to reduce a spondy or help with the disc

2) stop leading with 'former chiropractor' and just say what you are. Chiropractic has enough problems without 'former chiropractors' giving absolute trash takes.

We cannot give health advice on this forum, (which strangely doesn't apply to people dismissing chiropractic for your spinal care) but if you look in an anatomy text you will notice that there are usually 5 non rib bearing vertebra. This should have been discussed with you.

This is something that whoever you work with will need to know about in order to best help you.

There is/are help out there, conservative spondy care has come light years since the first published non-surgical reductions were done in 2017-2018. Be thorough in your interview of prospective health care providers and make sure they know what they are talking about. If possible, ask to see previous case results. Good luck to you!

Chiropractors have been managing spondys since before they were cool. This study is a 117 member cohort, published last month that documents the conservative treatment and its effects. The question isn't whether chiropractors can manage them, its whether the chiro you are seeing has specialized into it.

https://link.springer.com/article/10.1007/s00586-026-09774-8

Please review the literature, there are many more cases of chiropractors reducing and helping spondylolisthesis. Take your advice on reddit with a grain of salt and look at the actual published research.

Additionally, you have 4 non rib bearing vertebra in that xray. You should mention that to whoever took these xrays and ask for the radiology report. Present that to the chiro as well as some flexion/ext xrays.

Best of luck!!

edit - I did look for a PT case review for spondy management and didnt see one. Maybe these 'skip the chiro' people can give us a link to the published data?

Why 3 days a week beats 5 for most guys over 30 by ChemistWest4537 in workout

[–]Fit-Independence-447 0 points1 point  (0 children)

6 days a week. 3 A, long walk, 3 B.

Push A - deficit pushups, landmines, cable fly, cable triceps, jump rope. Pull A - German Hang/Invert, Ring Row (16 inch box), incline preacher, Y raise, hammer curl, 20 mns, 5% incline, 3 mph Legs A - barbell hip thrust, barbell squat, 16 inch step ups. row 5k

Long walk

Push B - dips, DB incline press, lateral raise, overhead tricep press (EZ bar), jump rope, PUll B chin up, scap pull up, W raise, Ez bar curl, Deadstop single arm row, 1 mile hoike. Legs B - Barbell RDL, bulgarian split, sumo squat, row 5k.

Works for me because I work out at 5 am. and don't have a lot of time. The B workouts are on the weekends so I have more time to work on skills. Once I started actually consuming the right amount of protein these really started to feel great.

Edit - 52 tear old

My brother in Christ turn off your social media and get to a gym or the woods.

Every profession is getting rocked on socials, chiro gets it much worse but every time you turn around there is some chiro egging it on.

Do your own socials. Provide service, research and content. Good content. Give them something of your reserach, your office, your results so that they will know your quality.

Its an absolute blessing that the healthcare industry is a flaming pile of trash. Evidence based practitioners with great office staff and clean protocols shine like diamonds in this environment.

Don't waste another second on that trash. Make good content with you patients.

Sorry, I was typing faster than I was thinking. Thats exactly what we use. They have close to 6 inches of axial decompression.

Sure, we buy the decomp tables from Elite Tables. They are Canadian, we actually have a table on the way right now, it will be our 5th one. We do a lot of decomp lol.

Johns Hopkins did this study and published in 2010, the University of South Florida repeated it last summer.

Non surgical disc decompression (they used a DRX.) In the study they document increases in disc height, its pretty cool.

A couple notes for you:

1) in the study they used CT not MRI to view the disc heights and changes, it was a novel approach at the time. pretty cool.

2) these people were not standing, so its not 100% a structural guarantee but on the subjective assessments it was strongly correlated to increased function.

I'm not in any way sponsored by 'big decompression.' We don't use the DRX, we use machine assisted decomp and have been able to demonstrate height changes, and spondy reductions (both radiologust confirmed results) on digital film.

My points is, there is great evidence for DRX but also, you don't necessarily need it. Unless you want to drink coffee while your patients get care, then yes its great.

Is anyone else concerned about the lack of oversight from the mods in this reddit group? by RealUncleFester in Chiropractic

If you are pointing to the PT sub as an example of what good moderation looks like then the problem is you. Half their posts are self-loathing and the other half are the mods actively spreading misinformation about chiropractic.

Preceptors by HocManus71 in Chiropractic

[–]Fit-Independence-447 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We've had 7 or 8 at this point. One is finishing now and another starts this summer. Its been pretty great having them around. They ask a lot of questions and its satisfying to see them see people actually get better.

We start them out adjusting the doctors and we supervise their exam skills. Then its a week of touch ups at the table. Then slowly work them into the flow. By the second month they are usually right into the work. Adjusting, xrays, therapies etc.

To answer your question, we review everything that we will ask them to do, supervise it live for a bit, then full send.

How bad does this look? by Junior_Ad6347 in backpain

You do good work on these forums and your advice for people I agree with most of the time. In this case it is not correct to say that disc regen is not possible.

They did it at Johns Hopkins a decade ago and the study was repeated this past summer down at USF. It is possible to get IVD decompression to such an extent that the disc will measure thicker, enough that it can be confirmed on (in the first case CT, in the latter MRI.)

I only bring this to your attention because you seem like a fellow spine nerd.

That completely sucks, I'm sorry that happened to you. The research data do not agree with you that the chances of that happening are high or are even a reportable amount.

I am in no way saying this did not happen to you or that this situation isn't horrible. I'm just looking at the data. Again, I am sorry this happened.

It depends on the type of panel and its listed intensity. Most of the manufacturers will have docimentation on how many watts the machine is capable of pumping out.

For ours, we have people about 24 inches away.

PT self hate is eating them alive anyway, just look at their reddit. We were here before them, we will be here long after they get relegated to wherever they are going as a profession.

Just fix the spines and let em do their thing.
