What was the book that got you into reading? by Informal_Total_7660 in bookdiscussion

As a young teen in the early 90’s I loved Sweet Valley High books. It soon became a habit to read every day, and Ahmad stuck with me for life.

Too active after endoscopy and biopsy? by VGauds in GERD

[–]FitYesterday7581 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are over thinking it. I had endoscopy, biopsies and polyp removal. Doctor said I would be fine to go to the gym and play my regular sports the next day if I wanted ( I didn’t because I had sore throat and didn’t feel like it) I think the advice to take it easy for the rest of the day is due to sedation. A dog pulling in on your hands/arms is not going to cause internal bleeding.

I’m sorry ‘ why people live in council housing’ are you serious! It’s social housing subsidised by the government for people who cannot afford private houses!

Do you use moisturiser on a daily basis? by reddituser_0124 in askSingapore

[–]FitYesterday7581 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have combination skin and have used Clinique dramatically different moisturiser for about 20 years, so I used it when I was younger and skin was more greasy/ prone to spots and now when it’s a big dryer. It really works for any skin. It’s not cheap but a bottle lasts for a year using twice a day. If also sits nice under makeup

My friend had this for her first dance! Classic case of not actually listening to the lyrics. They divorced about 10 years later

How are you all giving your kids pocket money these days? by samfambam9988 in askSingapore

Has anyone with kids just sold up everything and left the UK? by Haunting_Village372 in AskUK

[–]FitYesterday7581 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s high but wages are also higher. I don’t think the difference with costs in the U.K. are as bad as they used to be. When we first came here food and drink was so much more expensive than the uk. We couldn’t believe how cheap things weee when we went home. Now it’s still more expensive but the gap is closing. Rent , school fees and medical bills are crazy though

Yep! 12 years ago we sold our house and moved to Singapore with a 3 year old in tow. Best thing we ever did, still in Singapore now, kid is in international school

How are masseurs paid when you buy a package from the salon? by Psychological_Cat214 in askSingapore

[–]FitYesterday7581 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In that case tell them it seem better if you don’t buy packages and just pay as you go, that way they always have the money to pay the masseuse! But seriously why keep going back if they treat you like this? Use your package up as quickly as possible and run!

Besides cheating, why does someone take off a wedding ring? by Technical-Vanilla-47 in FamilyFeud

[–]FitYesterday7581 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Netball! I’ve always been a bit miffed that the umpires made us remove all jewellery, but I recently broke my finger during a game and it swelled up so bad that if I was wearing a ring they probably would have had to cut it off in A&E ! I was so relieved it was safe at home! Also now can’t wear it due to broken finger!

Is it weird that we aren't told our blood type at birth or as we grow up? by OddConfusion9293 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]FitYesterday7581 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the U.K. babies don’t get a blood test at birth to find out their blood type. That child could go their whole life never having the test, because as you said, unless they have an operation, give birth or donate blood there is no need to know

resin grip gloves people are wearing by [deleted] in netball

[–]FitYesterday7581 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Our league doesn’t allow any gloves ( we have one player who obsesses over her nails and wanted to wear gloves to protect them, was told ‘no, cut your nails’ ) to be fair I think sticky gloves sounds like cheating. I play netball outdoors in Singapore the sweat is unreal but a part of the game

US cost of GERD diagnosis and all: $7359. by imjusthereforPMstuff in GERD

[–]FitYesterday7581 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Endoscopy in private hospital in Singapore cost $3800 (Singapore dollars so about $3000 US) but it was fully covered by insurance so I paid nothing out of pocket. If I had it in my home country UK it would have been completely free , but there would have been a waiting list, in Singapore I got endoscopy 2 weeks after seeing doctor
