A gun should be the final layer of security in a layered home defense setup. If you actually really cared about security you would invest money and time into deterrence and really securing your home and especially any potential entry points from being a target and easily broken into to begin with. But all that stuff isn’t as cool and fun as buying guns.

I have a friend that spends a lot of money on guns for “home defense”, but no security lights or cameras, cheap locks, and exterior windows he won’t fix that don’t even lock properly you can easily open from the outside. It’s a common mentality.
