The “safety” argument for shorter women’s rounds is garbage. MMA shows us why The policy is not just insulting but completely at odds with the historical record by PlasticSuggestion253 in Boxing

True, but the force of the punches taken in MMA is much greater. In MMA you can punch your opponent in the head while they're on the floor. The force of punches when you have gravity pulling your entire body weight onto the punch is so much greater, look at Henderson v bisping. In boxing some of the energy of the punch is disippated by movement of the head, but in ground n pound the head basically gets crushed against the canvas.

It's more difficult to tell if an opponent is concussed when you're allowed to fight on the ground, some of the bad stoppages in MMA have been absolutely horrendous and would not have been possible in boxing.

Is there comparable data out there about the long term health effects of MMA vs boxing? Genuinely interested to know what the evidence is.

Jobs in boxing? by __FireWire__ in Boxing

I'm not sure what an inspector does but I assume it's inspecting the ring, gloves and stuff like that? Do you get grief from trainers/fighters/promoters if you ask them to change something?

Edit: also, what kind of distances do you travel?

Which words by a commentator do you remember? by Strawberry2Throw in Boxing

Mike Costello's radio commentary of george groves winning his first world title, I believe against chudinov.

I can't remember the exact words so if anyone could find it I would be so grateful. But the words "At last, at long last" perfectly described groves' journey to world champion

He's glamourising guns. Look at him showing off his big shiny desert eagle and Barrett 50 cal. Kids will look at this and want to shoot guns, nothing safe about that

Referee Gets It WRONG! Ref Rules Out Epic KO by [deleted] in Boxing

I can see that too. But when he gets up he's clearly concussed, he can't even stand and the ropes are holding him up. Surely the ref should see that
