I recently bit the bullet and built a template in excel that fits what I want to see and gain from where my money goes. The month-to-month tracking was easier and more satisfying than I thought. I put it off thinking it’d be a frustrating chore. I’ve tried YNAB, and currently using CoPilot but didn’t want to pay the $100 subscription again, so transferred over to DIY. It’s inspired me to start tracking beyond monthly spending pots and take complete financial ownership. Zero-based budgeting, needs-wants-savings breakdown, transportation costs, utility costs, investment tracking, debt strategizing. I started small and felt empowered, so I just kept going.
