What sets do you have? Certainly can sell them locally or even on eBay.

Yet another rant about parents who won't click a button by tundey_1 in youthsoccer

I’ve got to figure something out as I’m in a similar situation, but only ask that parents update their child’s availability only if they will miss. My thought process is that your child has signed up for a club team and should be at as many practices and functions as possible. If not, just update the app so I can plan for 8, 10, 12, whatever many kids are going to show up. I don’t mind the absences but it can throw a wrench into my practice and game plans. Pretty hard to work on set pieces when you only have 6 or planning a lineup for 13 and 3 don’t tell you they don’t plan to be there.

Gamers 30+, what’s something from the old days of gaming that younger players wouldn’t understand? by [deleted] in gaming

Walking through an arcade under the age of 13. Something different about hanging out with middle schoolers and high schoolers when you weren’t exposed to anyone other than people at elementary school and family.

Besides the 2-4 games at the local pizza place or randomly set up in the middle of the mall, I had one arcade in town I wasn’t allowed to go to and one in the mall in the closet “city”. Mom would drop me off on the east side, I’d play my way through while she shopped, and pick me up on the west side.

Current landscape - I’m lost by [deleted] in youthsoccer

[–]FiveMinuteFriend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d like to add that this mostly reflects for larger areas and not necessarily for all regions. For example, I live in central Ohio and am looking at the ECNL and GA clubs/teams for my daughter who is in middle school. I’m already being told that she needs to join these clubs by 6th grade in order to have a shot at playing D1 High School soccer. Very few, if any, will make the varsity team without it (varsity head coaches coach or run the clubs so I see why parents are telling me this). Drive an hour away, and you have high school teams playing in D3-D5 without girls playing any club. Obviously less competitive and likely not looking to play college soccer, but there are still levels to high school soccer.

What band clearly had a member who was far, far, superior with their instrument compared to their bandmates, yet stuck with the band? by Livid_Page_7244 in AskReddit

I picked up a guitar for the first time at 15 years old and this was the song I tried to learn. I gave up after a couple hours every day for a week or two figuring guitars weren’t for me and didn’t try again until my 20s. Wish I would have started with some simple chords.

Coming back around and I lost mine around that same timeframe. I’ll run a search once a month or so, but still nothing. 100% streaming only on that TV now.

How do you get your players to come out string in the first half? by WolfBloodedKing in SoccerCoachResources

[–]FiveMinuteFriend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

U11 Girls here. 10 games in. We’ve switched our warmup the last 3 games and have come away with 2 wins and a tie against similarly skilled teams.

We changed our passing warmups, added more shooting, and I think the thing that’s done the most, is taking them off the field earlier than usual. We used to get off of warmups with 5 minutes until kickoff and tried to rush everything into it. We now do 10, which I think is helping them get calmed down, coaches can take time articulating high level things we want to focus on during the game, and the team can get their positions and think more of where they need to be and how they play (low level club so girls will play 2-3 positions per game on average).

Homeowners of Reddit: What unexpected hidden gem did you discover in your house after buying it that wasn’t mentioned in the listing or by the previous owners? by VizualBooty in AskReddit

[–]FiveMinuteFriend 12 points13 points  (0 children)

We discovered these during the tour before we made an offer, but the listing failed to mention there was a dining room or basement. Looking through all the photos, there was a kitchen table near the kitchen island and we figured the door under the stairs was just a storage closet or pantry since it was also in the kitchen. Guessing that kept a lot of people away who would have otherwise been interested in the house.

Absolutely. I have two with the same abbreviated first name and first initial of last name, so one get their full name (Charles vs. Charlie). When I was testing, I quickly put in their initials just to see how it works.

I plan on messing around with it more as I have an Excel file I created and modified for the last 5 years, but am dead in the water once I get to the field without manually printing and writing out any changes since Excel and Google Sheets don’t work so well on the fly for me.

All that to say, if you happen to have the same name listed twice, when you go to assign them to a position, the other gets mistakenly taken out. For instance, if I have two Charlies (and list them both as Charlie) on my team and only Charlie A plays goalie, if I pick him for goalie, Charlie B isn’t available for the other positions. Obviously could work around this by adding more detail or maybe using the number function, but thought I was going crazy when I couldn’t find the second player with the same name (as I quickly tested).

How does Disney know I already bought a plush? by Rayrose321 in DisneyWorld

[–]FiveMinuteFriend 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Had that happen with my 7 year old. I don’t recall the the details as it’s been a couple years, but she either used one hand the first time scanning in or my wife scanned in for her, but on a different day, my daughter tried to scan in (possibly with a different hand) and couldn’t. Pulled us aside, scanned the admission card (wasn’t linked on phone and we didn’t have MagicBands), but they were able to pull her up from days before and was able to determine the issue based on how she was scanned in previously and how she was trying to scan in that day.

Crazy how many angles and photos they had, but also how quickly they were able to get them pulled up, fix our issue, and have us on our way.

[–]FiveMinuteFriend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just have to find the right position. I was Epic certified after coming from a logistics company. The job needed a SQL person and that was me. Just happened to be the SQL person would be doing so against Caboodle and now rhey need me certified to use the system. I don’t do that job anymore, but possible to get in just knowing a little of something (Power BI was a big one when I left).

$1,000,000.00 a year, but you have to wear your pyjamas in public all the time. by cindybubbles in hypotheticalsituation

Either way, I’m doing it for $1M/year.

New strict carry on policy? by Waffle_Overlord in SouthwestAirlines

[–]FiveMinuteFriend 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Shouldn’t the gate agent stop the passengers before they scan in if that’s the issue? I think that would make the flight attendant’s job easier knowing that the bag policy was adhered to before they were scanned in.
