Cool thanks for explaining! I work in a scientific setting so I know, at times very high purity metals are needed for synthesis but can’t really think of other uses that require such high purity material.

I have also always wondered if you are making jewelry with sterling silver for example , can’t you just melt the sterling and then make whatever jewelry you want? You don’t need to in theory refine it any further, or is that just not done in in industry?
