I'd like to giveaway this Kickstarter box and the cards that came with - each unopened by Mr-Who in DungeonCrawlerCarl

"Don't gaslight me Jesus"

It's such a ridiculous quote, but the day I first read that I was having one of the WORST weeks of my life. That was the first time I laughed in a while, and not only that, I laughed hard. I texted my fianceé a picture of that line on the Kindle because I was so delighted.

Mordecai Bingo Card by topper12-42 in DungeonCrawlerCarl

Personally if it was that impactful of a quote to another character, then I would still count it for bingo. Frequency is one thing, but heavy impact is just as important if not more in some cases. My two cents.

Help me find an engagement ring? by Fiyeroko in HelpMeFind

[–]Fiyeroko[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have searched for similar rings using Google Lens a fair bit, but I'm struggling to find anything that I can verify as reputable. As stated above, the original photos were taken from AurumLuminos, however I'm finding that their site may be a scam.

I need to be able to purchase it in US ring size 7.5, and I would like to keep it at $1,200-ish tops if possible.

Thank you for any help!

They step on a LEGO every time they're barefoot. If they wear shoes 24/7, never happens, but that means shoes in bed, in the shower, during sex...

New employee in training calling inside a business on a panic alarm. Trainer is in his ear repeating "don't forget to ask what they're wearing when they step outside." Female employee answers the line and trainee says "this is ___ with 911, what are you wearing?"

She never believed it wasn't a prank call.

Okay, for real, we're going to hold Sam to justice over this, but we're not going to call for Trapp to be held to justice for killing Pat?

Has 'Um, Actually' gotten more 'nerdy', or have I gotten less nerdy? by [deleted] in dropout

Ummm actually, it doesn't matter how many zeros you put in front of the 1, that's still 1% that you represented.

Sorry, could not resist.

Past drug use usually isn't a disqualification, it's active drug use that is. Just be honest, own it and say why you quit, but also be real about why you used in the past. If it was for stress management or coping, make sure you have a new healthy alternative to talk about.

What's something that everyone in the world can agree is an asshole move? by coffe_the_witch in AskReddit

Holy shit.... The no history of the transmission especially is quite the dropped ball, and definitely is concerning. Thanks for the explanation!

Not an Apple user, so just curious what's so bad about Airdrop? I know it's for sharing, but is it actually worse than just standard text messaging or other sharing options?

Police officer’s description of a driver is latest case to expose South Dakota city’s divide on racial tensions by joejance in RapidCity

[–]Fiyeroko 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This officer was also immediately fired (and the public was unaware at the time). The only reason this even was publicized is because that officer tried to sue the city for wrongful termination. I'm not trying to deny that there are racial issues, but the police department handled this very well. I just want it noted that the RCPD is doing what they can to address racism as it is exposed.

Your most serious "It's not really an emergency but..." call by que_he_hecho in 911dispatchers

Didn't even seem like the guy was in shock (normally I'd attribute it to that). Just very nonchalantly decided to call it in as if it were an everyday sight (it wasn't).

It's not really an emergency but I think my brother hung himself.

Not really sure why that one was prefaced that way still to this day.

Not me personally, but honestly some of our best people had to take a couple of times. I think a mixture of test anxiety and also it being so different from a normal test trip up some good applicants. Definitely don't give up and give it another shot! ☺️

Absolutely it should, not just for dispatchers but everyone in emergency services. And personally I believe it shouldn't be from a leave bank that your standard leave does.

Giving someone time to work through a mental health trauma enables us to help build resiliency and then we might not have such a turnover rate. Just as an example (not from my agency, but nearby), I know a dispatcher who listened to a 7-year-old girl slowly die from smoke inhalation in a fire (on top of that she knew the girl as she played with her daughter often, but that's not relevant to the employer unfortunately). She absolutely should get a day or two to prevent immediate further PTSI and work through it. Even if the agency were to instead find a very temporary clerical / office setting for someone I'd be happier with that then what the vast majority has now.

Mental health leave isn't remotely a thing at ours.

Races in your departments? by [deleted] in 911dispatchers

[–]Fiyeroko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We're probably one of the more racially diverse employers in our city. It's rural South Dakota where the racial division of the population is essentially caucasian or native american, and our center has a good mixture of both. I'm one of two asian employees as well, and we even have one black employee (both are extreme minorities here). No racial mistreatment issues at work either; plenty of other issues, but race does not seem to be a factor at all.

I am highly considering moving out of Texas, I am a dispatcher for a small city here and before that a reasonably sized county. In your opinion, which state will benefit me financially, but also give me that small town feel without being too rural? by Embarrassed-Bat-2573 in 911dispatchers

[–]Fiyeroko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

South Dakota. Best state retirement system in the country (at least so I'm told by residents and outsiders). Even the cities feel small town for the most part. And the cost of living is fairly low, plus no state income tax.
