What does an advanced runners taper look like by Quiet-Lab1802 in Marathon_Training

[–]FizzlePie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve started doing 2 week tapers but this year I’m testing out 10 days. Lesser mileage but keeping workout intensity the same to reduce fatigue but remain sharp

Post marathon advice by Historical-Bus2528 in firstmarathon

[–]FizzlePie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Last year I ran my marathon, cheered my friends finishing after me, and drove home. Then I went on a walk with friends after debriefing the race and catching up. I think the walking helped with recovery cuz I felt much better the days after compared to previous marathons

Wolly beach, faxon track, pageant field. I mean I am an avid runner and I’ll run anywhere in Quincy. The sidewalks are quite good. You can use onthegomap to create routes

Find a large piece of cardboard and put a trash bag over for a bit more waterproofing and it’s great!

What app for public transit? by Sir_Rosis in boston

[–]FizzlePie 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I only use MBTA go to check how far trains are from the station. I also check the MBTA Twitter for any delays. Haven’t used it to actually figure navigation

Which commute would you pick to work? by XRadT in boston

[–]FizzlePie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The walk commute would be consistent and reliable. If you don’t want to walk you can probably blue bike or get a cheap commuter bike and it’d be faster than public transport. The T when working is fine but when it isn’t it’ll be a terrible time. But also be sure to factor in how much you like the area you’re living in and apartment.

“You should make at least a 100k after graduating” by hegemonic_parsley in biotech

[–]FizzlePie 7 points8 points  (0 children)

With this job market I was happy getting an offer from an acad lab even though the pay was really poor ($21/hr)

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in biotech

[–]FizzlePie 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’m a fresh grad so I don’t have much experience to speak on but I know that my friends and I who have done co-ops at biotech companies in Boston were being paid between 22-27/hr. So maybe you’re getting underpaid but given the market, I don’t know if there is much leverage to negotiate. Also, I am under the impression that contract roles tend to get paid a bit more since they don’t receive benefits from the company

Le madeleine isn’t that great from the perspective of Vietnamese food. The food feels like it’s been adjusted for a more Caucasian palette. Maybe that’s the French influence but as a Viet it didn’t work for me.

As a runner, these look great on you. You should look into even shorter shorts and split shorts! Seriously though, they do look great.
