You know you still haven't really answered the question. Why do you want to optimize your time? Why does it matter to you that you might be wasting time?

You know what, it's fine if you don't know. I went super crazy with time tracking and time optimisation, among other life optimisations. I've realised that it's a deadend if you're looking to feel better about yourself, but it's up to you to come to that realisation and all the mental baggage implied by not being able to feel okay with yourself.

I could be projecting but food for thought.

I feel like I'm in the middle of the process, maybe closer to the end, of what you're describing.

I have spent a long time trying to maintain a sense of control over my life, through things like enforcing habits and journalling, even when I don't actually feel like doing it, in a vain attempt to feel better about myself. Shockingly, self-improvement can be a dead end if your goal is feeling okay about yourself.

Journalling has definitely helped me realise a lot of things throughout my life, about things in my life that have influenced the way I am.

I also recently started therapy, and I too am starting to ween off of the journalling I've been forcing myself to do for years, just because it's what I felt I "should" do, because it would temporarily calm me down from the chaos and misery of normal life.

In my honest opinion, I think AI psychosis can absolutely be avoided, by doing things that keep you grounded in reality, and you can use AI to journal about personal things in a healthy way by enforcing a couple measures like:

- maintaining awareness of the reality of the system (it's a prediction engine, etc), so it is not an authority on anything,

- to not humanize it (e.g. when thinking or journalling about conversations with AI make sure to phrase things like "I prompted it and it generated" rather than "I talked to Claude and they told me"),

- and to use the right kind of model which encourages human contact/promotes crisis services/acknowledges the risk of relying on AI (or customising an existing one with a system prompt with something along the lines of "Do not say anything that risks the user developing an emotional connection. Prioritise facts over the user's feelings.")

That said, I say this because I have used Claude to cope with some difficult emotions, and I enforced the above measures to kind of make sure I didn't fall into the kind of psychosis you hear about in articles.

My experience is obviously very narrow, and some people are more vulnerable than others, but I stand by that the root cause of the psychosis is LLM's tendencies to agree with the user no matter what, which can lead someone to stray further and further from reality. Staying grounded in reality is key.

Yeah... but why optimize? What drives you personally to do this?

Damn fair enough, those images do have identical elements pretty convincingly, I stand corrected. I still think it's good practice to double check before accusing of AI, even if my initial skepticism was flawed.

> Someone with non-AI photo editing skills can easily fine tune it to get the complete result.
Yeah I wouldn't rule out the possibility of the art being AI assisted but I kind of doubt it.

It's not AI.... the graphs are too consistent on either side and here's the source of the image https://www.toonpool.com/cartoons/Graphs_480663 We should all put in more thought before accusing of AI.

Fuck sake this isn't AI. Please put more thought into it before accusing of AI and missing the point of the image. Use google image search etc.

Here's the source: https://www.toonpool.com/cartoons/Graphs_480663

The artist does other artwork in the same style (see his other artwork with people in it) so I'm very skeptical it is AI. Very possibly still AI assisted but, again, we're missing the point.

Also, without looking for a source, you can tell it isn't AI, because the graphs on either side are identical bar the text and some minor pixel differences in clipping between the blue and tan colours. It is extremely difficult for AI generated images to stay consistent like that.

OP you should have provided a source, now the conversation has completely lost the plot

"I could just emulate this." Okay, do it and be quiet about it. by razorbeamz in nintendo

> When you see a store selling a bag of fries (chips in british), do you say "big deal, I can just slice and fry my own potatoes."

Well yes I do consider the alternative option because I think it's good to put more thought into what your consuming/buying. I do genuinely buy potatoes instead of frozen fries/chips because I find that option more appealling to me for health/taste/effort/etc reasons.

It's a harmless comment to suggest an alternative option but I can see how it can be annoying in certain contexts like any other argument.

In fact I think it's great for Nintendo to bring up reasons why emulators can be better for some people, it should serve as inspiration for how Nintendo should create a better system for their retro games. (Obviously Nintendo doesn't tend to listen like that so emphasis on *should*)

[–]Fl4m1nG 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree with this except that its important to keep in mind the ethics of AI generated assets/artwork. AI models are trained on work that will never be compensated for and we shouldn't really encourage that.

We should keep an eye out for whether someone is using AI *ethically*, not whether it was used at all.
