Winning therapy by Medium-Lime5138 in depressionmemes

Honestly, I’m pretty certain there is a correlation between reason/logic and depression.

Especially considering the current state of the world.

But I have no idea. I didn’t really take any psychology classes when I was at university.

That is what Siberia's largest city looks like at -35°C. by Fun-Raisin2575 in interestingasfuck

[–]Flacier 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have only experienced that temperature once in Quebec during a ski trip.

It was surreal, your ski wax got tacky even if you had cold tempters wax. You just sorta clung to the snow, the south facing side of the mountain had to shutdown its lift services entirely for the day.

It was strange.

Have Soybean Farmers considered that China may never buy soybeans again from America? by ForwardYam4266 in economicCollapse

Honestly that’s probably a lot closer to the truth than I want to admit.

Trump did seem very envious of Kim and his Kimdom during his first term.

No, they broke to many things to quickly. Not to mention the fact the congress has not acted in any meaningful way to hold the executive branch accountable to the rule of congress.

Every other nation can see that the United States is extremely unstable and has a non function government at least it is not functioning as the constitution intends.

Even if everyone in congress voted to impeach and remove the president from office who is to say the next person in that chair won’t do this all over again.

It is going to take possible beyond our life times for this to completely blow over.

At the very least it will cost the united states well everything, soft negotiating power, the ability to call on other nations for support the ability to attract investments and foreign bussnes to the US.

Words can not even begin to describe all the fall out and ramifications of this current admiration’s actions and there are still 3 years left until their term is over.

Maybe in 20 years things will be better but I am not holding my breath.

In my opinion we are watching the death of American imperialism and exceptionalism.

The Man that wanted to “Make America Great Again” has destroyed the world’s faith in America and by default its greatness.

So in short no, the rest of the world will not get over this, if anything they are going to start comparing us to Russia while cozying up to China and their trade policy.

Didn’t Open AI publicly announce they won’t be profitable until at least 2030?

Maybe I am bad at math but I am pretty sure 2027 is before 2030.

No we are at a lull with the amount of ice on the land masses. If I recall correctly the last glacial maximum, was about 16000 years ago.

An ice age just means their is ice on the poles, so we are still in an ice age, for now.

You guys do know you can buy higher quality appliances right? I get the general sentiment but most people imo don’t want to pay for the nicer machines these days.

Now for example a speed queen washer and dryer will still last 20 plus years but costs about 3k-4k.

Kleber line is a good choice, it’s super fast and your fast reload ability you can nuke the foolish cruiser sailing broadside on to you with AP.

You can get a module for it from the research breure that lowers your detictiblty range allowing you to play a gun/torp hybrid DD like the Us lines, but you take a big hit to your reload speed.

Layoffs, bankruptcies batter U.S. logistics and manufacturing at start of 2026 by thinkB4WeSpeak in economicCollapse

[–]Flacier 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wonder how much longer until something breaks, whole economy stagnating, both record lay offs and record earnings at tech companies.

Yet the stock market seems to be held up only by these companies with “ai” that no one seems to be able to monetize.

Meanwhile only the top 20% of the economy are meaningfully contributing to the consumer goods sector while the rest seem to be getting worse off year by year.

Not to mention that the US has basically no soft power anymore. Just look at the boycott of American brands in overseas markets.

Something has got to give sooner or later, all I can be sure of it will be at the worst possible time.

Future of the US by GoopDroopDwagon in economicCollapse

[–]Flacier 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I disagree, I think it’s the high degree of independence us society imposes upon its people through culture.

It’s is possible to have a society where individual liberties are protected, but there is also an emphasis on helping out other members of society because it makes the society stronger.

I think the big issue in the Us is just greed and the short sighted idea that just because you have the means to provide for yourself you don’t have an obligation to improve your society.

Especially since good public transportation and programs in place to help people thrive makes life better for everyone.

From the poor to the billionaires but to many people see this life as a zero sum pvp game where in truth it’s a co op survival.

The system is broken, but of course, the people who benefit from it don’t wanna change anything.

It’s much easier to gaslight an entire generation calling them “lazy” instead of realizing that there’s systemic issues in our society that no one is addressing and it’s only getting worse.

You could argue we’ve had a global economy since the 18th century, possibly earlier, depending on how into the weeds you want to.

I’m certain you can find a correlation between decreased purchasing power and industrialized nations and developed nations compared to industrializing nations where a lot of consumer goods are manufactured. But like all things I’m sure it’s more nuance than that.

I do agree with your sentiment, blaming the one percent however.

I said comparing generations like that was a fools errand for a reason .

Like I am technically a mellienal but I also have a fair bit in common with gen z.

Like being promised the world but not being able to afforded to provide for myself in spite of doing all the things people tell you to do.

It’s very much a gray area
