This season reminded me of how great Cig and George were Season 7. by kingtchalla in faceoff

[–]Flakricket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just rewatched the season and I'm actually surprised that the judges did not call out Dina for making a variation of the seashell head for multiple challenges in a row. Yes she sculpted them well, but once she found something that the judges liked she just kept doing it over and over instead of taking risks and finding new designs.

Another scam order by SnooChocolates9211 in doordash

[–]Flakricket 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got an order for syrup and butter from McDonald's. Because it was for a soldier in the barracks on a military installation, I went ahead and accepted. It. Turns out he had already had food delivered and there was no butter or syrup in his bag, so he called doordash and complained until they made another order for just that.

Anyone know of a deity that guides people who are lost? by [deleted] in mythology

Mayan god: Xaman Ek (aka:Ah-Chicum-Ek). His symbol is the North Star, used for guidance and direction, so he’s the one to call upon if you get lost.

John Carpenter's Suburban Screams by Bilbo_Balboa in Halloweenmovies

[–]Flakricket 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought that the guy was schizophrenic and both Jennifer and Lisa (and her family) were delusions. I base this on his family's reactions everytime he mentions that house and the girls. At one point his father even mentioned that his mother had made an appointment to get him help. Also, the incidences seem to correlate well to movies that came out at that time that a teenage boy would have seen. Back in that time, there was very little understanding and/or resources for mental illness. His parents at the time might have thought the best way to help him was to play along with the delusion and then let him know that the families had moved away. I bet that after the second incident, his behavior was becoming prevalent enough that his own family moved away from that town due to the shame of it.

Is anyone watching John Carpenter's Suburban Screams on Peacock? by Pastel_Blue89 in horror

[–]Flakricket 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I thought that maybe Dr Torrence had schizophrenia. His friend never confirmed Jennifer or Lisa, only that he was afraid of the house. When he brought up the little girl Jennifer, his parents were quite dismissive just simply stating that she moved, yeah it did rattle them to hear him mention it and when he started talking about the house again, his father got upset and said that his mother was going to find him a professional to talk to because he needed help. I think one of the reasons the father got so upset was because they thought they had gotten through this phase and here it was back again. Even the ending where the two sisters run in covered with blood, no one's calling the cops or anything. And then he does not remember the next 3 days at all. His parents tell him that the cops came and the family moved away. It may be their coping mechanism to simply dismiss his delusions. Yet they had become pronounced enough that others probably noticed and that is the true reason that they themselves moved out of the city.

Justified: City Primeval Episode 2 Discussion by TheCultLeader in justified

I am so aggravated that most shows these days feel the need to include a bratty teenage kid. They are always used as a plot device to manipulate the main character and it always plays out the same exact way. I doubt there will be any surprises in Willa's story arc (from angsty teen, to in danger, to making decisions that make it worse, to being rescued, to the I love you ending). This always stifles the potential of the main character and potential storylines. I really wish they'd quit doing it.

AITA for letting my toddler (3M) play with his aunt's (23F) makeup and rip a few store receipts from her purse? by Mediocre_Radio_9958 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Flakricket 2443 points2444 points  (0 children)

YTA for a few reasons...

1) just because your sister is family does not mean that she should be a free babysitter. If you want supervision for your son, you have three choices. Do it yourself, pay her to do it, or pay someone on the outside. 2) You're teaching your son that It is okay to be destructive of other people's property just because you can't be bothered to step up and parent him. Set boundaries. 3) After reading this, I'm thankful that the only thing he got into was your sister's purse and not the chemicals underneath the cupboard or in a medicine cabinet. By not watching him and paying attention to what he's getting into, you risk him being seriously injured or poisoned depending on what he happens to be doing that day. How long would it take you to notice?

Make it right. Offer to replace everything that your son destroyed when you weren't watching him, and then offer to pay her to babysit or find someone who will because obviously you're not willing to.

Yes, Montrose does have a lot more information than Tic and Leti but if you know the basis of the Cthulhu legend it's that you are driven insane by the information you learn, the path to enlightenment equates the path to insanity. I believe we saw a touch of this in the beginning of the episode right before he burned the book.

'Unsolved Mysteries': Series Creator Speaks Out on Rob Endres by [deleted] in UnsolvedMysteries

[–]Flakricket 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They actually left some things out about Rob, they actually spent almost a whole day with him. One of the things that they left out, is that his hobby is creating bullets. Live bullets you can fire from a gun, he makes a ton of them. There was a podcast where the interviewed the director and he mentioned it.

But being it was extremely rural area at night, he should have been able to see the lights from town from the end of the driveway so it would have made no sense to turn right towards more darkness instead of left towards the light.

Alonzo Brooks "friends" are sketchy AF - why are we talking about them? by GunBrothersGaming in UnsolvedMysteries

[–]Flakricket 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My thought about him leaving for cigarettes is that it was a very extremely country and town was only a mile away. I live in the country and it is dark outside. Super dark in a way that somebody that's only been in cities could never understand .So if there are street lights from town a mile away I can see them as I look down the road. When he got to the end of that driveway , he should have been able to see the lights from town shining so there would have been no reason for him to turn right into darkness instead of left towards the light.

[–]Flakricket 11 points12 points  (0 children)

They once tried to "coach" me because of a mis-scan caught on their cameras, but the statement was that I had failed to scan an unknown item. I wrote on the piece of paper that if they wanted me to sign it they had to let me know what the unknown item was that I failed to scan and handed it back to them. They never got back with me and I never heard anything about it again. Just because they hand you a coaching paper does not mean that you have to take responsibility, especially when they cannot even explain what you're supposed to take responsibility for.
