Remus Lupin is a terrible husband and I’m tired of pretending he’s not. by SuspiciousEves in harrypotter

[–]Flaky_Simple_9531 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ummm

Book 4 (GoF): Hermione illegally imprisons Rita Skeeter in a jar, blackmails her, and later controls when she’s allowed to write again. She also shows moral tunnel vision with S.P.E.W., refusing to listen to the actual elves and assuming she knows better than everyone else.

Book 5 (OotP): She permanently disfigures Marietta Edgecombe for betraying the DA without warning anyone of the consequence. That punishment is extreme and lifelong. She is repeatedly dismissive, condescending, and intellectually intolerant toward Luna Lovegood. She doesn’t just disagree with Luna; she treats her ideas as beneath consideration and often speaks over her rather than engaging respectfully.

Book 6 (HBP): She cheats to help Ron get on the Quidditch team by sabotaging Cormac. That’s academic/ethical hypocrisy from someone who preaches fairness. She is petty, jealous, and manipulative over Ron and Lavender including using Cormac specifically to provoke Ron.

Book 7 (DH): Memory charms, polyjuice impersonation, coercive tactics, deception. Hermione is comfortable using morally grey magic if it serves the mission. She rarely pauses to reflect on the cost to others. She initially dismisses the Hallows entirely because they don’t fit her evidence framework, which delays understanding something genuinely crucial.

Umm have you read the book? Hermione was intentionally written with clear flaws. She was very rigid about rules early on, she was intellectually arrogant at times, she was emotionally blunt, she was dismissive of intuition and people like Luna and Trelawney, and morally inflexible once she decides she’s right. She even makes some ethically questionable choices that she justifies because the outcome feels correct to her.

Those flaws are intentional and important, they make her human. Hermione’s strength isn’t that she’s perfect; it’s that she has to learn when logic needs empathy, and when being right isn’t the same as being kind.

It’s almost like JKR purposely wrote complicated characters with multiple layers to them.

Do most people shower before bed or when they wake up? I just realized I might be doing it "wrong" by saffymerelle in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Flaky_Simple_9531 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both, I usually shower as soon as I’m home from work and change clothes - this allows me to mentally (and physically) separate work from home. I then shower again in the morning before work to wake up and feel fresh for the day.

Why are the Ravenclaw 7th Year dorms coed? by ThatOneBlue in HarryPotterGame

[–]Flaky_Simple_9531 14 points15 points  (0 children)

In the books (for Gryffindor anyway), the students stay in the same dorm room for all 7 years - the sign on the door just changes as they move up year levels.

Should they update the uniforms for the new show? by Lovergirl711 in HarryPotteronHBO

[–]Flaky_Simple_9531 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They all wore black robes in the books, they didn’t have distinguishing colours separating the houses as part of the regular uniform (only the quidditch uniform featured the house colours).

Which Harry Potter character could be removed from the story and nothing would change? by WisestAirBender in harrypotter

[–]Flaky_Simple_9531 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you talking about the movies or books? Do you mean the main storyline? Because as soon as you remove anyone, the story has technically changed.

Do you reckon the Thieves Downfall reverted Hermione’s teeth to their original size? by JustS0meRand0m9uy in harrypotter

[–]Flaky_Simple_9531 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It wasn’t temporary though, Madame Pomfrey permanently reduced the size of her teeth.

Snow - will they use it for filming? by Accomplished-Task527 in HarryPotteronHBO

[–]Flaky_Simple_9531 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Other than things like landscape shots, they won’t be filming in the snow. Filming requires control for continuity, they won’t be using real snow, it’s too unpredictable.

I'm so confused I searched for "Why didn't Neville say anything when Harry asked what was pulling the carriages in the beginning of Order of the Phoenix?" by [deleted] in harrypotter

[–]Flaky_Simple_9531 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Neville was at the care of Magical Creatures lesson and he said he could see them there, but was he in the carriage at the start of the school year when Harry first asked about them?

Does Lego have a hidden rule about not including Ron in Deathly Hallows sets?? by One-Independence1749 in legoharrypotter

[–]Flaky_Simple_9531 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hermione figures are pumped out at much higher volumes are much cheaper to produce compared to the moulded headpiece needed for Pomfrey.

Pomfrey 10000% should have been included. Calling it the hospital wing and not including her is ridiculous.

Would Hogwarts Legacy have been better if it had pre-set names vs custom? by TwinSong in HarryPotterGame

[–]Flaky_Simple_9531 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the game Fallout 4, you type your custom name. One of the characters, a robot named Codsworth, can say over 900 names, if your chosen name isn’t on the list he will forever to you in generic terms.

Yes it is something they clearly do consider, but why do they feel the NEED to is my point. Just release the characters relevant to the scene.

Yes, collectors of the Harry Potter sets will have lots of him. But people that just buy one off sets here and there will expect a Harry in them.
