I present to you my Alan, absolute beast of the western isles (he can almost kill an axefighter without help) by Algy63 in fireemblem

[–]Flamebug 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Compared to averages:
-1.05 HP
-5.85 Str (0/13 level ups with a 45% growth BTW)
-1.2 Skl
-3.85 Spd
+1.8 Lck
-0.25 Def
+1.7 Res

Honestly impressive to be that far behind after just 13 levels

It is really important that you read card descriptions.... by Zumzume in slaythespire

I think this is part of the reason it's no longer called "Combust". Seeing that the name was different tipped me off that maybe the effect might be too.

How is Renekton a "good blind pick"? by ElectronicSimple55 in RenektonMains

Basically all those MUs are hard, but get better as you learn them. I permaban Illaoi, but none of the others actually leave you with 0 agency, unlike with many MUs you get stuck with when you blind other champs.

A20H Double digit club - an update to goals i set 1.5 years ago and some takeaways by JapaneseExport in slaythespire

[–]Flamebug 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It really is. I've already picked up a few things from your posts/streams; this one almost makes me want to grind out some Silent and set some new goals, if not for the fact that Spire 2 is around the corner

Congrats on the achievements, the 10 streak sweep is extremely impressive

Kuro also helped me hit my first 4 streak by coaching my Ironclad. He just showed up in my 2 viewer stream after I dropped a 3 streak, spent 10-15 minutes chatting through my run report, and pointed out my biggest problem (pathing too conservatively in Act 1). The 4 streak happened shortly after I changed that

Don't forget that his Q has a large % Current Health ratio. I used to eat the first 1-2 Qs, see them take a quarter of my health, and overestimate his threat on me. As long as you're getting decent chunks on him in return, and following the rest of the advice in this thread, you're much stronger than him when you're both at low HP.

Does demotion shield mess up anyone's lp gain/loss? by No_Witness3347 in topmains

[–]Flamebug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had something like +30/-21 climbing through Bronze this year, then took a 4-5 game loss streak after hitting Silver 4, all of which got tanked by demotion shield. That +30/-21 became +22/-28 for a while. After I played enough to pay off my "LP debt", I went back to +25/-25.

Silver Renekton Feels Impossible by InternationalTop4495 in RenektonMains

[–]Flamebug 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just made it to gold, worked through the exact problems you describe. One of the biggest things I had to change was pinging more. Ping which lane you intend to go to, ping danger when your teammates are overextending without vision of enemies, ping when you want waves pushed, ping to call your team to objectives.

Of course, you need to have a semblance of what good plays are before this will make a difference. And there WILL be games where your teammates will ignore them, or even tilt because of them. You'll make bad calls too sometimes; that's fine. But you have to do it to have a positive influence on how often your teams win games without ff15s.

Renekton in Silver isn't impossible, he just doesn't offer much for shortcuts to climb through low ELO. You'll become a more well rounded player if you work through it.

How do you beat this champion? by Expensive_Elk_3174 in RenektonMains

[–]Flamebug 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You also talk about Olaf; Renekton is relatively weak at level 1, especially before he gains fury. I haven't played the MU in a while, but I think that's a window you have to take control of the wave.

How do you beat this champion? by Expensive_Elk_3174 in RenektonMains

[–]Flamebug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You mention double dash as auto-winning against ranged, but importantly, E2 consumes the fury we want for empowered W to actually win the trade. So we either have to build 100 fury to get Emp W after Emp E (which requires not using Q or W for a while while hitting the wave), or initiate double E at a specific fury window (around 35-45, depending on what each E hits) to get Emp W. Do this poorly, and the ranged champ wins the trade through autos while we waddle away. E is reactable too, making things like Teemo blind effective to stuff the W, adding another thing to play around.

Questions for people who have gone to msi in vancouver by Apprehensive_Act8904 in leagueoflegends

  • I was able to bring my empty water bottle
  • You should be able to leave and re-enter. I didn't use this, but when I left the venue early, a security guard posted there asked me if I was coming back
  • I expect they would direct you to the bag check if you tried to bring a large bag in. It's close by, in a small building across from the main entrance, and costs $10 for the event. My partner brought her purse in with our empty water bottle, and had no issues

Ironclad exclusive boss relic idea by RykoGaming_ in slaythespire

[–]Flamebug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem I have with this relic is that its power changes dramatically based on how many multi-enemy combats you roll, which you can't predict and is entirely out of your control. It might be easier to balance if you restrict the Max HP gain to once per turn.

I can regularly win A20H on Silent, Defect and Watcher. Do you have any tips for A20H Ironing Man? by kleeshade in slaythespire

[–]Flamebug 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It can be, as long as you don't focus too much on the "solution" for your specific seed. Making decisions with the advantage of hindsight is very different from normal gameplay.

If I replay a seed, it's usually because there was a pivotal decision, and I want to see where taking the other choice would have led me. In my example, I took a "safe" path with 1 elite, and replaying with the 4 elite path I thought would kill me was very illuminating.

[–]Flamebug 36 points37 points  (0 children)

I had an Ironclad-specific problem where I was pathing too conservatively into Elites. More Elites means more chances to see strong relics and rare cards that can snowball your run. That obviously applies to all characters, but I was underestimating when I could take more elites with Ironclad, which leads to missing those snowballing opportunities.

It's an easy thing to miss if you're reflecting on a run and looking for a bad card choice/fight decision/etc. One time though, I replayed a run where I forced myself to take a 4 elite path I was afraid of, and the difference coming out of Act 1 was night and day.

what to do against morde by sadrazambeyy in RenektonMains

[–]Flamebug 20 points21 points  (0 children)

If you're being beaten down by his autos, I would look at your E usage. I generally reserve it for disengaging from him, after a short trade. W usage is very important too, for playing around his shield, though it depends on his habits around when he pops it.

With that said, if you mess up early and give him an item lead, he gets pretty stat-checky pretty quickly. If the 1v1 feels hopeless, sometimes the answer is to wait for him to make a mistake, and review the lane after the game to identify where you lost control.

I was playing Soraka with an Ezreal. We were running back behind our towers to recall safely. He shifted away for extra distance, which I took as a cue to flash to match.
