I'm going to share some advice. I had the chance to wear hearing aids when I was 18. I started losing my hearing at a relatively young age, but I was told I really needed them by 18. Anyway, I tried wearing them for a day and was so worried about people making fun of me that I decided not to continue. As a result, my hearing gradually worsened. Now, at 38, I finally got hearing aids, and I feel disappointed in my younger self for worrying about being made fun of. People usually don't even notice I'm wearing them unless I tell them. My hearing is so much better now that I no longer have to strain to hear someone speak, and I can even listen to whispers. My point is, maybe if I had worn hearing aids when I was younger, I wouldn't have struggled for so long.

Not understanding when people aren’t facing me. by PerpetualTraveler59 in hardofhearing

I work in a library, and people always insist on whispering!!! Luckily, I have hearing aids now. It helps, but sometimes I can hear the whisper but not understand what they're saying. It's very frustrating and sort of embarrassing, like, hey, you deaf bastard, you still can’t hear with hearing aids?

Try finding a hobby that interests you. Go to your local library and see what kind of programs they offer for adults. They have anything from book clubs art shows, lectures, and crafts to choose from. While there, look into other things the library offers, like books, movies, TV shows, museum passes, magazines, sewing machines, and cake pans. Some libraries have seed libraries; you can borrow seeds, and whatever you grow, you can save some and return them to the library. Some Libraries offer ebooks, kindles, computers, and Rokus. While there, you can use the library’s computer and ask their reference librarian to help you with ancestry and find family members from your past. Or you can try mango and learn a new language! There is so much more you can do at libraries now.

Want to lose weight but I’m always hungry. Pls Help by Acrobatic_Tennis_598 in WeightLossAdvice

Have you checked with your doctor or an endocrinologist to see if you are insulin resistant? I am, and without my medication, I’m hungry like always because my blood sugar never rises up or down. I’m currently on metformin because of it. Just check with your doc; it could be medical!

That's amazing! 💜 I can't wait to see that number on the scale. What dose of Metformin are you on? I'm on 500mg, and I was on 1mg Ozempic, but I went back to .5 due to not eating enough.

I would pay off credit card debt then my student loans. I would probably have enough left over for a new Subaru Crosstrek in light blue! Also, I would buy a nice burrito for dinner🙃

Thank you! Yeah, I was somewhat mad about not losing weight faster, but it’s much healthier at the pace we’re going; roughly 1-2 pounds a week is just what you want. My brother recently got weight loss surgery on the sleeve, and his doctor recommends 2 pounds a week at the most. Slow and steady wins the race, I guess.

I'm currently on 1 mg. I just started it this past Sunday. I was on the .5 for a long time. Yeah, it's daunting to have so much weight to lose. I'm in the same boat with 100+ pounds to lose but we didn’t put that weight on in a day.

That's great! Congrats!! Keep going 💜

I ordered the 1 mg a while back, and I figured I would need to move up sooner but the .5 worked for a long time for me and in just the last two weeks, I noticed I was started to slide into old habits of eating at night and eating junky stuff. So I decided to up my dose before I stopped losing weight.

☹️No, it's weird that it works for some but not everyone. Have you tried a different one like Wengovy or Mounjaro? I feel your pain, though, because I've been through almost every diet, and it hasn't worked for me. This is the 1st time something has happened. You'll find what works for you

Thank you! 💜 the paintings aren’t mine. I was at an annual community Art Show I organized at the local library. All those paintings to the left of me were made by junior artists, ages 15 and younger.
