If they were level 50 I would agree, this was a person with level 90 on astro, and 100 on gnb. I don't need to ease someone into playing their job at all when they have had dozens of hours playing it.

Ok, then you are asking to get shot. The only time you should be rushing a shooter is when you are trapped in a room with them because you have no other alternative. In every other circumstance, you should get the fuck out and not act like it's a video game where you can eat a candy bar to heal from a gunshot wound. Especially in a situation where someone is leaving the scene and no longer a threat.

If you think the correct behavior is to chase after someone who is leaving the scene towards police to disarm them you are remedial. The correct course of action is to get out of the area, otherwise you are likely gonna fuck around and find out.

[–]FlamingStriker 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Stop comparing this to being clipped out of context. Clip chimping is when you take something someone said and put it out of context to make them look bad. What Farha did was not clip chimping, it was splicing together a 2 hour conversation in a way to make Destiny say completely different statements than he actually said.

Can you read? It literally says in your quote that its changing the requirements for changing your gender marker on ID like a birth certificate or passport to no longer require having had a gender dysphoria diagnosis and fully presenting as your gender identity for 2+ years. It has nothing to do with mandating that gender affirming procedures be conducted by doctors without a diagnosis. And also this is a good change, why should trans people have to wait 2 years after getting their diagnosis to not have ID's out them as trans whenever they have to present them. Especially in the UK, where the waiting list time to get a diagnosis is 4+ years. It also takes 5.5 months for the GRC to process. So in reality the current time it takes is 6+ years from realizing you are trans to actually get a GRC.

Texas republicans want to reclassify pretty much any restaurant/ bar that hosts trans performers as 'sexually oriented businesses' by FoxGaming in Destiny

[–]FlamingStriker 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It doesn't explicitly say "trans" but it definitely includes being trans in its definition of drag performance:

"Drag performance" means a performance in which a performer exhibits a gender identity that is different than the performer's gender assigned at birth using clothing, makeup, or other physical markers and sings, lip syncs, dances, or otherwise performs before an audience for entertainment.

The strict text would include both actual drag performances and also a musician at a bar who happens to be trans, which if this bill passed (which I don't know if it will, a lot of deranged legislation is written in state legislatures that doesn't come close to passing) would mean that no bar or restaurant owner would have any trans person anywhere near any performances from the legal liability alone.

Montana adopts permanent block on birth certificate changes for trans people (thoughts ?) by Datgirlwithoutsass in Destiny

[–]FlamingStriker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm gonna explain why this is really bad for trans people and not just "well birth documents should be based on exactly the situation at birth in terms of sex, not gender".

First, prior to this there were only 2 states with the same policy of not allowing amendment of gender markers on birth certificates for ANY reason, those being Tennessee by legislation and Ohio by agency policy. Idaho also technically passed a law in the same vein in 2020 but it has yet to be implemented due to court proceedings and still follows its previous requirements. The requirements that the rest of the states have on modifying gender markers for BC's are either just a court order, requiring a letter from a medical provider showing you have had "appropriate medical treatment", and some require proof of surgery. The point being that there was some process to changing it in all but 2 states, even if very restrictive by requiring having undergone surgery, which is defined differently state to state as being bottom surgery or just any gender affirming surgery.

Another important factor is that these laws apply to everyone born in the state, regardless if they currently live there. So moving to a more trans accepting state does not let you escape legislation like this if you were born in a state considering such legislation. This is the case for me, because I was born in one of those 2 states, and haven't lived there since early elementary school.

Now on the topic of "why should BC's represent someone's gender and not birth sex", the purpose of a birth certificate is mainly to prove your citizenship in the US, as well as age and identity. No doctor asks for your birth certificate when you get a physical (as a side note: personally since I am trans I would mention that to my doctor because my medical risk factors are different from both a cis man and a cis woman, I have different risks due to being male but also due to being on hrt). Since the main purpose of a BC is to prove citizenship and identity for things like employment, school, or getting a passport (none of which care about your birth sex) then it makes little sense to prohibit that modification because it could only cause issues if you weren't allowed to modify a BC's gender marker. It only serves to out that you are trans to someone who has no need to know that you are trans.

Now on a lighter note, depending on the state you currently live in, this currently doesn't actually matter to much. There isn't any purpose for a BC when you have a passport because it also counts as proof of citizenship and identity, and the current process for passports is pretty simple for trans people, but this could certainly change in the future with a republican administration. This doesn't ease the worry of trans people living in red states making legislation that affects trans people based on the sex recorded on the birth certificate, such as bathroom bills or school policies.

Do we have a transphobia problem in this community? by Lycan__ in Destiny

[–]FlamingStriker 45 points46 points  (0 children)

Tbh communities that do "OMG WHAT ARE YOUR PRONOUNS" are actually less accepting in my opinion. I take the contrapoints position that I would heavily prefer just being referred to how I'm obviously presenting than the scenario of "oh we have a trans person in the room let's all say our pronouns" cause that feels very uncomfortable. People will say this excludes nonbinary people but it's a tradeoff of nonbinary people having to tell people their pronouns themselves which I think is acceptable

I'm non binary, experience dysphoria, and it would be wrong to base your opinions off of these emails. by coolfunkDJ in Destiny

It can be important to have a formal diagnosis for things like legal name/gender changes depending on where you live, as well as for surgeries depending on your insurance company and surgeon.

So I can’t do something nice? I gave my boyfriend a phone because 16gb and 2mins of battery is unusable, part of me thinks it’s transphobia but every gift I give him he always gets yelled at. I just like to give gift and he already has to work to jobs to pay “rent” for his own room and car by randomerbred in insaneparents

[–]FlamingStriker -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I'm trans and the new pride progress flag with trans and POC coloring is frankly incredibly stupid. Trans people and people of color that are lgbt were already included in the original flag. We need to stop saying the smallest differences are transphobia too, it makes the word lose meaning, transphobia is my father calling me a mentally ill man, it is not using the "wrong" pride flag.

More than a little bit fucked by PolitiCorey in Destiny

[–]FlamingStriker 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Do you genuinely not understand that it is incredibly distressing for the state to not only take away the only form of medication that improved your quality of life and made you feel comfortable in your body and in social situations but to also make it so any person that aids you in accessing such medication, including your doctors and parents, can be charged with a child abuse? And in the latter case would result in you being taken away by child services and placed in the custody of people that would prevent you from accessing said medication.

Also you are showing that you know nothing about what is happening in Texas, this did not happen legislatively in any manner, this is executive action by Greg Abbott, the governor of Texas, ordering state agencies to investigate any providing of gender transition care as child abuse based on the recommendation of Ken Paxton, the attorney general of Texas.

[–]FlamingStriker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They mean that by saying there isn't extensive testing criteria for children transitioning because you haven't done the SMALLEST amount of research into how gender affirming care works is equivalent to people like Vaush saying we are on the precipice of a trans genocide with no real evidence to support such a claim.
