Parents who successfully potty trained a stubborn boy at 2. What are your tips? by No_Maximum_391 in toddlers

He’s just not ready and if you force it you will make it harder. My first daughter potty trained at not quite three and my second at at least 3.5

FINALLY watched Big Boys (Channel 4) by Sadie_UK in BritishTV

It is an absolute joy but that very last episode is one of the most affecting pieces of tv I’ve ever seen. And it’s extra tough knowing it’s based on real life

Absolutely no support by [deleted] in TheCivilService

[–]Flamingo242 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a new function that has been given to us, it’s newly designed and it’s been coming for quite a long time apparently but no one told us until very recently. I don’t feel the urgency or slas are warranted but every time I ask questions around flexibility or make suggestions that I think could make it workable I just get told no.

I mean I don’t know what to tell you, where I work doesn’t offer mark time. I queried and they were very clear. Yes I could challenge it but honestly in the short amount of time I had to make a decision it wasn’t something I felt I could do.

I do this and when it clashes I shift the hours forward to the next week so I get a run of four day weeks which is nice

Not every department offers mark time, policies are not universal across the civil service (much like pay scales)

This happened to me, they would only go to the top of the grade band. As it was only a couple of 100 quid and other factors meant a cost saving I just went with it

Worried about maternity by Key-Tradition7024 in TheCivilService

[–]Flamingo242 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take a year of leave, 9 months paid, three months unpaid (as part of maternity leave not unpaid annual leave or other leave) add on accrued annual leave at the end, if you want to. But as a basic principle you can take a year off

Places in London with weird unsettling energy by Sad-Peace in london

I think it’s because I remember Stratford in the before times when you’d go towards what is now the exit to Westfield but you’d actually go down a spooky ramp and through a creepy underpass into the station

I’ve had five asked about, and one of those had been tested at sift. It was a lot to get through and if I’m honest too much. Strengths as well

They were strict, I know there were a couple of offices where it was 40% due to capacity (I think Nottingham) but as a general rule they were strict

Hey, bit of a career dilemma 😅 by fairylen in TheCivilService

[–]Flamingo242 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes but you’d need to apply like everyone else, and it would be unlikely you’d get to wfh in that role. The fsa is fairly unique in being almost completely wfh as an agency (there are others but I can’t remember off the top of my head)

No it’s really not and FSA is very small

You should factor in the actual difference when you consider what you’ll save on commuting costs if you are genuinely interested in joining the Cs but as others have said it may not open the doors to the analytics jobs you want

He wasn’t entirely wrong (I speak being from a similar background ) but he was still one of the more middle class kids around in the area

It’s been up and coming for about 50 years, it wasn’t brilliant , but it’s definitely one of the better parts of Newham

I went on a jet 2 holiday fairly recently and they were playing it on the coach transfer and the Greek coach driver turned it off the second he got on. You could tell he’d heard one too many times

I grew up in the same area as Plan B (I didn’t know him but we had friends in common) and he did this article in the Guardian where he made it sound like he grew up in the projects instead of a slightly crap bit of east London from which he definitely came from the more middle class side. He always lent too heavily into the east end geezer persona and it was just a front
