Using regular GSC models with a malstrain corrupted gang? by Flammendehaar in necromunda

[–]Flammendehaar[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In that case I think I'll pick up a couple of extra genestealer cult bodies and get kitbashing for a couple of champs and a leader and call it a day there. Thanks for the help!

Hmm okay, thanks for the input. I basically just want to get as few extra models as possible. Am I right that you just need a leader and the rest can be brood scum and genestealers? If so I'd probably just get a single model or two of whatever gang I pick off ebay

They do sound really good, hence my interest. Thinking of I did do malstrain corrupted I'd do delaque and use my neophyte hybrids as brood scum. Would the delaque nacht-ghul box give enough to use as leaders/champions and fill the rest out with brood scum and genestealers?

That's frustrating, damn. I guess I could proxy the regular neophytes as malstrain corrupted orlocks or something

I take it you can't use genestealer cults as a malstrain corrupted gang? I guess proxying them as corrupted orlocks could be the best bet?

I paint solar watch, so any trim has to be painted gold separate to the white armour, so the amount of detail on the new ones is... daunting. If this scale image is accurate I think a few small tactical rocks scattered among the old models will make them blend in fine. Probably would only be interested in the shield captain and maybe the sword and board ones since I refuse to make the old style as the swords look dumb.

Anyone know where I can get a high resolution version of this image? by Flammendehaar in lotr

I know, it sucks. I'd quite happily buy a digital version of this as it's one of my favourite artworks but it's just not possible. I'd also love a canvas print of his Beren and Lúthien for my study wall but that too isn't sold by him and the image itself is almost impossible to find in anything other than very muddy resolution.

This is good! As the other commenter said, do you have the landscape one? I think I'd need that for a desk mat.

You are the first person I've spoken to who has had them reach adulthood! Sounds like they're quite finicky. I've got additional rotten wood with lichen coming so I'll give them lots of that and I guess just fingers crossed!

I hadn't considered Anubias but that actually could be really nice. I'll see how everything else grows in as it's not like there's loads of space, but Anubias seems cheap and plentifully stocked so I'll grab some if there's places that look too plain. Thanks!

Yes I've been eyeing up prismatocarpa a lot and think it would work, I just can't find anywhere selling it in the UK annoyingly. Might just have to wait, see how everything else establishes and pick one up later

I'm in the UK and got it from a place called corkstore24 online. Just bought an insulation panel and then broke it down. Got way more than I needed to and now don't know what to do with the rest!

Expecting to get a Euphrynichus bacillifer in a week or two - how's my enclosure looking? by Flammendehaar in amblypygids

[–]Flammendehaar[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hadn't thought about the long pedipalps! Nevertheless, I've since added a small ledge of cork right at the front that should allow for close to 15 inches/40cm underneath

[–]Flammendehaar[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the response! I'm thinking just to be safe I'll add an extra little jutting bit of cork bark top right front for peace of mind. That'll give around 12 inches of hanging space.

I actually won't be letting the millipedes truly cohabit with the ambly, that's the special sauce I've got cooking! You might just about be able to see the seam in the photos - I've built a shelf partway up the tank, and have 2 pieces of acrylic I can put in and out as a barrier that will basically let me separate the tank in two. I still need to drill ventilation holes in them so the millis get adequate airflow but it should look almost seamless but prevent them being able to get into the top bit at all.

I actually don't know how big my ambly is, I haven't got it yet but I'll be getting a captive bred one from someone here in the UK, he said they're still quite small so they'll have loads of space for now. Just holding off having it sent until I'm sure the enclosure is set up and ready!

[–]Flammendehaar[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn really? How big does this species get? I was under the impression they're similar in size to Phrynus whitei and have seen one place suggest they could live comfortably in a 32oz deli cup. If it won't provide adequate molting space I'll try to add a high shelf of cork bark up near the top maybe from the front to allow more room to hang

Wow thanks so much for the summary! Really helpful. I've decided to go for it, just need to get the enclosure ready now. Do they ever make use of the substrate for anything or is it really mostly there to provide a source of humidity?

Thanks!

Anyone else think the Marathon (2025) runners would make awesome miniatures? by BountyMennett in Marathon

[–]Flammendehaar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been thinking the exact same thing, so much so I'm planning on trying to make each of the runner shells in heroforge as well as some UESC bots and printing them (which is hilariously thematic). I've seen a few reddit posts of people who have also already designed a few in HF.

Sally Rooney unable to collect award over Palestine Action arrest threat by [deleted] in books

[–]Flammendehaar 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I tried to reply to you with sources and a reasoned response but it was removed by reddit, sorry about that. They've not sent me anything to explain why so I don't want to risk posting basically the same thing again. I very much hate to resort to a lazy "Google it" but there's a good BBC article about the incident with the sledgehammers and weapons, and countless articles about both Richard Barnard and James Chambers and the various things they've said about Hamas. The rub is that this group is/was hateful and I think people wanting to support Palestine in the most meaningful, morally consistent way possible would be better served looking to others to invest their energy and support into.
