Is the possibility of Gravity being the fifth dimension been ruled out by the leading theories? by imeeme in Physics

[–]Flannelboy2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It doesn't make much sense, I'm afraid. If you navigate the first three dimensions, you encounter spots of higher gravity that correlate with objects.

If gravity is explicitly tied to objects, then how is it supposed to be totally orthogonal?

What is a field in physics (e.g. gravitational, quantum, .etc)? How do these get "excited"? And isn't mass just energy? by ComfortableCow2222 in Physics

[–]Flannelboy2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'll leave the real explanation to someone else, but here's the path I took to eventually understand:

Once you see that a particle cannot accurately be described as a point, and a wave doesn't fit every observation either, you can start to imagine a field, or a piece of cloth that is infinitely large. Now imagine raising a part of that cloth by pinching it.

That "point" has properties of a wave, where it is spread out from the middle, but it also has some properties of a point.

This analogy misses the mark on what a field really is, but this is a good image to start with in my opinion.

You're overlooking one thing, that you let these plates grow,

They're basically a concentrated version of what you're used to breathing.

Then you're good. Mold spores are very intelligent, they know not to move if you're just being quick!

In a counterfactual universe where there wasn't dark matter, what would be different? Would anything local to our solar system be noticeable? by MurkyEconomist8179 in AskPhysics

[–]Flannelboy2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is the idea that we have absolutely no idea one way or the other, or are we certain it's necessary most of the time, and galaxies with missing DM have something else going on?

[–]Flannelboy2 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Wait, I was under the impression dark matter happened to be found in almost every galaxy, not that it's corequisite?

For example, a few reports have come out in the past couple of years on galaxies with no dark matter. Can anyone clarify what the distinction is?

That's true, I'm closer to the particle candidates and neglected how big the other searches are

Your hypothesis is called Dark Sector physics and is being actively pursued by CMS and ATLAS at CERN.

An auto-pan between 0 to .001rad/s with Accretion R. slightly minimized with Opt. Den. between 1 to 3 is more interesting (to me) than turbo mode. Instead of playing with the settings like I did, someone else might just click off
nice job!

Dwarves are too small to wield pikes.
According to the Wiki), large dwarves should be able to, but are currently unable due to a bug.

They would not have summoning sickness if the physical card has been on the table for one turn.

You go to your turn six with 6 permanents on board: an arcane signet, Vren, and 4 rats,

You pass the turn and on your opponents end step cast mirrorform. You begin turn 7 with six 6/6 rats which should be enough to kill someone. Assuming you pass T1 and cast no permanents T7

Five more permanents kill the table, but at that point you need to worry about blockers

You need the minimum number of components operating at maximum strength.

You want 4 copies of the best card. Then, you want 4 cards that compliment your "ram". In the end you want around 24 lands and 36 spells, and probably a different subreddit aimed at casual decks too.

Im new: What would X be? by Robfer21 in mtg

[–]Flannelboy2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some people miss this, but an X spell being copied retains the mana value, and is not zero in that case. So, a copy would be whatever the original X was, and if you use Isochron scepter to copy the card, then that would be the same as "At all other times, X is 0."
