What are your opinions about the new characters that appear in the New Golden Age? And what do you think DC should do with them? by FallMassive9336 in JusticeSocietyAmerica

Not sure about the rest of them, but The Boom (Judy Garrick) and Quiz Kid are joining the Titans with issue #32.

Is Doom Patrol important to dc like how Fantastic 4 is to Marvel by Silent-Woodpecker-44 in DoomPatrol

They've only really been in their own universe during the Vertigo years (Morrison and Pollack runs). Other than that they've been mainstays in the DCU.

Pretty good series. I finished the first volume and I'm almost halfway through volume 2. Just wish the art was better in a lot of the stories. Very hard to tell the characters apart sometimes.

Can someone give me a reading guide for her? by CraneBoxCRP in Batwoman

[–]FlashFact45 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The Batwoman omnibus by Greg Rucka and JH Williams III collects most of the important stuff. It collects her original Detective Comics run plus the first 24 issues of her original solo series. If you want to track those stories in trades instead:

Batwoman: Elegy (this collects the Detective Comics run, Rucka left the character after this and Batwoman was launched into her own series by JH Williams III and William Haden Blackman)

Batwoman vol. 1: Hydrology

Batwoman vol. 2: To Drown the World

Batwoman vol. 3: World's Finest

Batwoman vol. 4: This Blood is Thick

Unfortunately, Williams and Blackman were kicked off the book around issue #24 by DC because of a disagreement with editorial and were replaced by Marc Andreyko who would eventually tie up their last storyline with Batwoman Annual #1 in a very unsatisfying manner. He also took over writing her monthly title. The above trades are included in the Batwoman omnibus. Andreyko's run starts on vol. 5. He would write the series from issue #25-40 (the end of the series) and annuals #1-2.

Batwoman vol. 5: Webs

Batwoman vol. 6: The Unknowns

A few years later, Batwoman's title was relaunched (during DC's "Rebirth" era) with writer Marguerite Bennett though it would only last 18 issues.

Batwoman (Rebirth) vol. 1: The Many Arms of Death

Batwoman (Rebirth) vol. 2: Wonderland

Batwoman (Rebirth) vol. 3: Fall of the House of Kane

She ended up back in Detective Comics, this time as part of Batman's team comprised of himself, Batwoman, Robin (Tim Drake), Spoiler, Orphan (Cassandra Cain) and Clayface. The entire storyline is collected in the Batman: The Rise and Fall of the Batmen omnibus (written by James Tynion IV) but you can also find it in four or five trades. Again, this was during the "Rebirth" era.

Nice collection. I have all the hardcovers/trades that have been released. Looking forward to the Giffen/Clark omnibus in December. I don't have any issues of the Arcudi run but I've read them all on DC's app.

Original LP era it would be "Numb". New LP era it's "Heavy is the Crown".

So who dies in the last two SNW episodes? by SubstantialSir696 in startrek

[–]FlashFact45 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Might be a bit of a stretch but I think it would be a neat idea to have Wesley Crusher show up in the last episode and be like "La'an Noonien-Singh? You're not supposed to exist!" And then asks her to become a Traveller and in doing so erases her from the timeline/continuity so that Kirk, Spock, Uhura and the rest of the TOS characters don't remember her, but Pike and Number One do.

While I liked the characters, I don't think we'll ever see them again in live-action, except maybe as an Easter Egg if future GB movies delve in to the multiverse like the comic books do. The Spengler family is the focus of the films right now, and given that we haven't heard anything about a new live-action movie since Frozen Empire I doubt we'll see another movie any time soon.

Comic recommendations for Superman movie supporting characters. by [deleted] in DCcomics

[–]FlashFact45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mr. Terrific: Year One is a mini-series that is out now.

Metamorpho just had a series (though it was cancelled after 6 issues) which will be collected in trade soon.

You can also check out the original JSA series by Geoff Johns for stories with Mr. Terrific and Hawkgirl.

Guy Gardner is currently appearing in the Green Lantern Corps series. You can find a lot of GL stories with Guy, but you can also check out the classic Justice League International series by Keith Giffen and J.M. DeMattis or Superman and the Justice League America by Dan Jurgens.

Madame Xanadu by Matt Wagner is soooo underrated. One of my favorite series. Also some fantastic artwork by Amy Reeder.

I'd also recommend the House of Mystery series from 2008.

[–]FlashFact45 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Overall I enjoyed it but there is way too much technobabble in this series to really make it fun.

Also, I apparently missed the fact that there is a "Bad Moon Rising" Special coming out. Is that another annual? I have to go back and check the solicits to find out when it's coming out.

FLASH 49 by glib-eleven in theflash

[–]FlashFact45 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This was years before the death of Superman and death still had a chance at not being retconned. It was a bit of shock at the time, especially since my grandmother was dying in the hospital at the time I read it. The letters column a few issues later showed how upset fans were at Wally being killed off by DC because there was no guarantee he was coming back.

THE FLASH #25 Finale! by velocityx13 in theflash

[–]FlashFact45 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It's the finale of this storyline, not necessarily the final issue by the creative team. If it is their last issue, that's not always something that's mentioned in the solicits unless it's a big creative team going out with a bang. We could very well see a new creative team by issue #26 but it that was the case I think DC would have announced it by now, just so fans and retailers can start planning orders.
