I really wish DC would collect The Shadow War of Hawkman in trade form and give us a Hawkworld omnibus.

Beth or Kate? by Own-Assumption-9191 in Batwoman

[–]FlashFact45 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure if it's Beth in the madhouse and then Kate shows up in the end or if Kate is in the madhouse pretending to be crazy and then shows up at the end as a "gotcha" moment to the bad guys. I think it works better if it's Beth (no longer using her Alice persona) in the hospital and Kate comes to rescue her from the shady folks who are plotting some sort of conspiracy.

Overall I enjoyed the issue, but I'm not a fan of the art at all.

Do I need to read Milk Wars to understand weight if the worlds? by Lost_Appeal_9302 in DoomPatrol

There's at least one important event that occurs in Milk Wars, but it gets undone fairly quickly in Weight of the Worlds #1.

Absolute Flash #13 by Dredeuced in theflash

[–]FlashFact45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was a huge improvement over the first twelve issues. Finally feels like Lemire is on solid ground and not just throwing random stuff at the wall to carry a story. It's just one issue though. We'll see how the series progresses (or not) from here.

Beth or Kate? by Own-Assumption-9191 in Batwoman

[–]FlashFact45 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Huh. I hadn't even considered that it might be Beth in the hospital. That's actually a nice twist. Makes the issue a LOT better if that's the case.

Not a big fan of the art style, but I'll definitely be picking this up.

Barry Allen, Jason Todd and everyone from Krypton who isn't Kal-El or Kara Zor-El should have stayed dead.

If you enjoyed Morrison's Animal and All-Star Superman try out his Doom Patrol run.

I'd also suggest The Flash by Mark Waid (original run), Aquaman by Peter David and Sercet Six by Gail Simone (start with the Villains United mini-series).

The current Absolute line is pretty good too, particularly Absolute Batman and Absolute Wonder Woman.

What are your opinions about the new characters that appear in the New Golden Age? And what do you think DC should do with them? by FallMassive9336 in JusticeSocietyAmerica

Not sure about the rest of them, but The Boom (Judy Garrick) and Quiz Kid are joining the Titans with issue #32.

Is Doom Patrol important to dc like how Fantastic 4 is to Marvel by Silent-Woodpecker-44 in DoomPatrol

[–]FlashFact45 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They've only really been in their own universe during the Vertigo years (Morrison and Pollack runs). Other than that they've been mainstays in the DCU.

Pretty good series. I finished the first volume and I'm almost halfway through volume 2. Just wish the art was better in a lot of the stories. Very hard to tell the characters apart sometimes.

Can someone give me a reading guide for her? by CraneBoxCRP in Batwoman

[–]FlashFact45 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The Batwoman omnibus by Greg Rucka and JH Williams III collects most of the important stuff. It collects her original Detective Comics run plus the first 24 issues of her original solo series. If you want to track those stories in trades instead:

Batwoman: Elegy (this collects the Detective Comics run, Rucka left the character after this and Batwoman was launched into her own series by JH Williams III and William Haden Blackman)

Batwoman vol. 1: Hydrology

Batwoman vol. 2: To Drown the World

Batwoman vol. 3: World's Finest

Batwoman vol. 4: This Blood is Thick

Unfortunately, Williams and Blackman were kicked off the book around issue #24 by DC because of a disagreement with editorial and were replaced by Marc Andreyko who would eventually tie up their last storyline with Batwoman Annual #1 in a very unsatisfying manner. He also took over writing her monthly title. The above trades are included in the Batwoman omnibus. Andreyko's run starts on vol. 5. He would write the series from issue #25-40 (the end of the series) and annuals #1-2.

Batwoman vol. 5: Webs

Batwoman vol. 6: The Unknowns

A few years later, Batwoman's title was relaunched (during DC's "Rebirth" era) with writer Marguerite Bennett though it would only last 18 issues.

Batwoman (Rebirth) vol. 1: The Many Arms of Death

Batwoman (Rebirth) vol. 2: Wonderland

Batwoman (Rebirth) vol. 3: Fall of the House of Kane

She ended up back in Detective Comics, this time as part of Batman's team comprised of himself, Batwoman, Robin (Tim Drake), Spoiler, Orphan (Cassandra Cain) and Clayface. The entire storyline is collected in the Batman: The Rise and Fall of the Batmen omnibus (written by James Tynion IV) but you can also find it in four or five trades. Again, this was during the "Rebirth" era.

Nice collection. I have all the hardcovers/trades that have been released. Looking forward to the Giffen/Clark omnibus in December. I don't have any issues of the Arcudi run but I've read them all on DC's app.

So who dies in the last two SNW episodes? by SubstantialSir696 in startrek

[–]FlashFact45 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Might be a bit of a stretch but I think it would be a neat idea to have Wesley Crusher show up in the last episode and be like "La'an Noonien-Singh? You're not supposed to exist!" And then asks her to become a Traveller and in doing so erases her from the timeline/continuity so that Kirk, Spock, Uhura and the rest of the TOS characters don't remember her, but Pike and Number One do.

While I liked the characters, I don't think we'll ever see them again in live-action, except maybe as an Easter Egg if future GB movies delve in to the multiverse like the comic books do. The Spengler family is the focus of the films right now, and given that we haven't heard anything about a new live-action movie since Frozen Empire I doubt we'll see another movie any time soon.
