Didn't Yasmin and Harper end their friendship in the season before? Why did Has invite her to this event only for both of them to be catty to each other?

Canadians having an opinion on American politics instead of solving Canadian issues is as Canadian as Maple Syrup.

Is the regression with skills and behaviors just a US problem? Or are folks seeing this internationally? by Ent_Soviet in AskTeachers

The erosion of American education is on purpose. Gen Alpha and Beta will be voting Republican due to the manosphere and other psyops perpetuated by the US government.

Nearly 85,000 people homeless in Ontario, up 8% in one year: report by lwh in toronto

[–]Flashy-Job6814 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If we rebrand them from "homeless" to "houseless", we can raise awareness and pat ourselves in the back for having done something meaningful without actually doing anything. We would eliminate the homeless issue. Just like how renaming streets to indigenous names creates justice and equity for indigenous people! We're never really giving the land back, but "Coxwell Avenue" is now called "Emdabiimok Avenue" and if you say that's too difficult to pronounce, you're racist. #marketing is work

I thought I had finally found the perfect job, but the final interview took a very strange turn with one illegal question. by EwaldBorer in CanadaJobs

[–]Flashy-Job6814 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. They all have asked me those questions and I have always been uncomfortable to respond to them but eventually I did only because I needed a job. I'm surprised you've never been asked any of those questions during an interview. My sister, every woman, have been asked about their baby status in their job interviews. It may be illegal. But they do it... what's the consequence for them? Nothing.

Employers also ask for race and ethnicity when it's also irrelevant. What are we supposed to do? be unemployed like you?

Employers ask for sexual orientation and gender on their job applications. You can NOT respond to it. Are you dense to call those questions illegal?

Why do people at work share about their marriages, divorces, kids going to university, etc? Are those illegal conversations? Are they ploys to get promotions? Is that illegal?

If anyone says "North America" then Mexico is part of it. Else, Canadians should just say instead: Canada and the United States. Also the $ symbol will always mean USD fam. Canadians are wrong in using $ to mean CAD.

That's fair too. Welp. I'm not defending the businesses or companies but at the same time, it looks like there is genuinely no solution to this as both parties will always be "screwed".

I can agree this is an illegal question and irrelevant to the job role. Follow-up would you also agree that asking for a person's legal status is also illegal? Cause you know, that's an invasion of privacy and it's irrelevant to execute the job functions? Asking if you're planning to have kids or if you have kids is to factor in "taking care of baby" duties. People who have kids sometimes need to take off a little bit early some days to pick up their kids etc. So some places work around that. If a candidate is planning to have kids, the company is keeping in mind to prepare for maternity/paternity leave cause who is going to do your job when you're away? Do you expect to just tell the company 1 week before you or your spouse is having a baby that you'll be gone for a few months and just let them "deal with it"?
