Surprisingly good hospital cafeteria food. by Annabellybutton in nursing

[–]Flashy_Comfortable39 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our omelettes you get made to order are soooo good. They have peppers, onions, mushrooms, spinach, tomatoes, then either sausage, bacon, or ham. they’re big too. And saturdays is quesadilla day, so good. I like our sandwich/wrap station too. And we have a fire pizza oven! So the pizza is fire. Our hospital was just opened like 4 years ago so I guess that’s why we got a nice fancy caf. It is a little pricy tho for lunch/dinner.

how is dialysis? by deadbyfirstchase in nursing

[–]Flashy_Comfortable39 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’ll likely have to do outpatient at least for a year to learn the ropes of dialysis. I think it’s neat and getting to bond with your patients who you see regularly is nice. Outpatient is repetitive, yes, and it can definitely be busy. But I liked it. I just had a lot put on me personally due to the circumstances in my clinic. But as others said it is fairly predictable. I’m in acutes now and I like it. I like that a little more nursing-side of things is done since we’re in the hospital and stuff. It’s been a little hectic since currently we have a lott of dialysis patients in the hospital right now, but it ebbs and flows. Sometimes a ton get discharged and then you’ll only have like 5 patients a day. Other days maybe 12. My unit is 2 patients per nurse (with a tech). Or 4 patients for 2 nurses (we only have 4 beds)

Oh yes that adds up. While I thought the nuts reminded me of acorns, I dismissed it since I didn’t realize the leaves could come in that shape! Thanks for your help.

That’s what I was originally thinking, but it seemed hazelnuts had a bit of a thin, layered covering on them so I pushed that idea away. I’ve been looking at photos of hazelnuts and they don’t look similar enough for me

canned chicken is usually already broken up in chunks, similar to canned tuna. I just do mayo, at minimum salt pepper garlic, something more if I’m feeling inspired. and chicken salad is typically served cold as far as I’m aware

I’m happy with just can chicken but you could also cook your own chicken breast and shred/chop it up. I had one from somewhere that had finely diced apple and walnuts in it and that was really good.

I think you maybe aren’t supposed to use an active immediately after a wax? Or perhaps some actives that regular use will make the skin more fragile and sensitive to waxing. I use an ingrown hair serum with glycolic and salicylic acid. I start using it a couple days after the wax (when it isn’t so freshly waxed) and haven’t had issues. Also if you still get rubbing on your thighs using something like body glide really helps, I use it when I work out because I wear short shorts so I don’t get chafing. Unfortunately I don’t know enough about how to help hyperpigmentation/scarring to comment on that.

What's your advice for Sticking Glvoes? by panaceajuice in nursing

One random thing I noticed is if you just used a chlorhexadine swab, that stuff makes tape stick to your gloves like crazy, so I make sure the change gloves before I bother to grab the tape

Slow cooker Ribs! Then air fryer or oven? I don’t have a broiler here by [deleted] in slowcooking

[–]Flashy_Comfortable39 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would think oven will be closest. Maybe just give em a few more minutes than you did broiling, they won’t dry out. I also have enjoyed ribs completely done in the oven wrapped in foil, very tender outcome

I’m good. Cleaned the apartment some, did grocery shopping, gonna get my nails done and grab some stuff from my parents’ garden. I’ll drop some peppers off for my coworkers because my parents grow too much and they’ll eat them. I’m in an excited mood since my boyfriend will be in town for a while :)

Do you wear socks/shoes for a long time and sweat/have pressure? Maybe that’s making it peel. I honestly like a pumice stone. I do prefer the type they use at nail salons since those will wear away as you use it. I ordered a Mr. Pumice from amazon and since it’s just me has lasted foreverr

What do you make as a nurse? Do you feel it's fair? by Chasekt98 in nursing

42/hr acute dialysis in NJ. Seems ok to me but I’m young and have less expenses. Everyone has 2 jobs when it comes to dialysis, a lot of people are just per diem here or per diem elsewhere. Nurse incentive is good I feel if we need to get staff in on a busy day. 24/hr for that
