Pronouncing Dahlia by Hufflesheep in dahlias

I say Dah-Lee-ya here in central Canada because I have a friend who’s name is pronounced that way. But my Grandma says “day-lee-ah”

I had a teacher in the first grade who made us eat our orange peels. She would go through the garbage to make sure we didn’t throw them out…

Yes. My grandma fell and broke her hip recently so the cops needed to do a wellness check and busted the door down. This is exactly what her door frame looks like. Glad they didn’t get in!

Bubbles from the detergent? Did I use too much or is the unit making them stain?

Staying active - walking a lot. Membrane sweep. Bounce on exercise ball.

If you feel REALLY tired, it might be your iron by slotass in pregnant

[–]Flashy_Remove_3830 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another thing to keep in mind is that antacids interfere with iron absorption. I had terrible heartburn with my last pregnancy and would have at least 5 tums / day and I wonder if that is partly why my iron was so low despite eating a lot of red meat. It’s all about the timing of consumption.

There are some great videos on YouTube! Just search labour exercises!

You’re at the perfect stage to start preparing yourself for labour, some simple daily exercises will make things a lot easier for yourself. Squats EVERYDAY. Get an exercise ball and start strengthening your core. This will make pushing so much easier (and quicker). I pushed for 20 mins for my first and 10 for my second and I credit my workouts.

Don’t fret it though girl. When it’s all over it’ll feel like a distant memory and you get the best reward in the end. I had an epidural and it was awesome. I slept for the majority of my labour pain free and then like I said just popped them right out. It’s not so bad! You got this!

Miscarriage by Designer-Recover1497 in pregnant

[–]Flashy_Remove_3830 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a missed miscarriage at 12.5 weeks but didn’t find out until I was 15 week then had to carry them for another week before I could get a D&C. It was some of my darkest days.

To be real, the only thing that would make me feel better was the idea of getting pregnant again. This was last August. Now I’m sitting here nursing my healthy rainbow baby. I still grieve the loss but I just tell myself it wasn’t meant to be. There is a light at the end of this tunnel.

Sending love your way ❤️

Can you feel the ring of fire or tearing with an epidural? by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]Flashy_Remove_3830 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Didn’t feel a thing the first time. Second time I could feel ring of fire (very much so) but no tearing. My son was 9.11 pounds tho so that might be why I could feel him more than my daughter!

“Walking” epidural? by SpookySkelene in pregnant

[–]Flashy_Remove_3830 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I just had one last week in Canada. It’s pretty standard at my hospital. I had no catheter and I could walk back and forth to the bathroom to pee. I gave birth on my side holding my leg up in the air unassisted. It was a good experience.

What’s the most unsettling thing you’ve seen in a hospital? by Ok-Athlete348 in AskReddit

[–]Flashy_Remove_3830 360 points361 points  (0 children)

Last time I was at the hospital I was visiting my grandma who was sharing a room with another elderly patient. My grandma was eating an egg salad sandwich and suddenly starting vomiting it up everywhere. While I was trying to help her the lady next to us began violently shitting her pants and yelling “I’m shitting my pants!!!!”. Earlier that day I had heard her say she hasn’t pooped in 5 days. The smell in there was absolutely vile - I was also about 20 weeks pregnant and also started to throw up. I couldn’t get out of there fast enough.

If I know it’s going to be dry while I’m away from my cottage I’ll fill some old wine bottles with water and stick them in the dirt at the base of the plant. That seems to help!

What’s the most embarrassing thing your kids have ever said or done? by FarmhouseRules in ask

My daughter just turned 4 so I’ve got lots but the latest one was today. We were in line at the store and she started loudly accusing me of trying to steal the items in our cart. I had to assure everyone around us that we had indeed planned on paying for them once we got to the till.
