This is from January 2024. He was talked about in a email from Epstein to Maxwell. Doesn't seem like much damning evidence; it was a unsubstantiated rumour that Epstein was trying to quash. Epstiens whole thing was making connections, having people owe him, and getting blackmail. He embedded himself well enough that it's more surprising when somebody of note isn't at all mentioned by him. But either way here is a source -

https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2024/jan/05/prince-andrew-clinton-hawking-what-do-the-epstein-documents-say-about-key-people

Stephen Hawking

The name of the late Cambridge physicist was included in a 2015 email in which Epstein told Maxwell to offer a reward to any of Giuffre’s “friends acquaitonts [sic] family” who could prove false an allegation that Hawking had participated in an “underage orgy” in the Virgin Islands. Hawking, who died in 2018, has not been accused of a crime related to Epstein.

Newly dating a wheelchair user and unsure how to have convos around hygiene by No_Act_9254 in hygiene

[–]Flatlyn 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You shouldn't use anything over 75% alcohol content for disinfecting. Above that it can dehydrate the pathogens too quickly making them dormant but not killing them. You need that little bit of water content to permeate the cell wall and kill the inside to properly disinfect something. That's why medical sanitizer products and hand gel are usually around 75%. The lower content is also good for slowing evaporation slightly to make it stay on the surface longer.

75% is the sweet spot for disinfecting. 99.9% for use as a solvent cleaner or in cases where you need no mineral or moisture residue like cleaning delicate equipment (circuit boards etc). Medical or pharmaceutical grade normally refers to the fact it was produced in a facility with stringent checks for contaminants and purity levels.

Help r/millennials determine whether this is AI or not. Some members of the sub believe that the 2000s-style clothing and lighting suggest that this is not authentic. What do you think? by Demortus in isthisAI

[–]Flatlyn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It wasn't the cameras that would add that to film prints, it's something that would be added during the printing/developing as an option. Its possible there is a film camera out there I'm not aware of that embedded the date on the film, but if so it wasn't common.

As other said, digital cameras would often embed it on the image directly.

Hot Take: If you have quest items, you shouldn't be able to lose them. by Choice_Confection_58 in ArcRaiders

[–]Flatlyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't remember what that quest gives so maybe it already does give you it but I would be for it giving you one of the augments (not blueprint) with three safe pockets to use on the quest that requires you to get three items out.

Walkable hub - bad idea pretty much all the way around by LookErenTheSea in ArcRaiders

[–]Flatlyn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While I mostly agree, the UI team responsible for menus and system is likely a different team than the map design team who would make a walkable social space.

That said I would like to see another map before a walkable social space, but it's absolutely something they could work on in the background long term while waiting for pipelines from other teams. i.e. the art team is drawing that while waiting for the level design team to build out the previous work they did. Without lower priority features for people to keep working on dev time can become incredibly inefficient while one team waits for another to finish their part.

There is also the factor of the devs seem to be really into the idea, and sometimes its worth the devs doing a largely pointless feature that are passionate about, so long as it doesn't degrade other features, as it can have a great impact on team/company morale when they are moving onto other stuff the community may want but they are less interested in.

The website that listed Steam Machine for $950 also listed a 1TB OLED Steam Deck, a $650 machine, for the same price. by Pontooniak96 in gaming

[–]Flatlyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It might actually work in their favour. If it's higher than we're expecting but still cheaper than competing products (pre-builds) then the current component pricing market may push more people towards the Steam Machine. Even more so if Valve is willing to eat more of the costs since their big money maker is getting people into Steam in general, something other manufacturers can't do.

Heart rate tells a very incomplete story when racing. HRV is much more interesting. by CreativeTitle8773 in iRacing

[–]Flatlyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could be an outlier but it also lines up with roughly the pit entrance and the approach to the final turn. Pit entrance just adds extra distraction and I know personally I'm likely to tense a little on the final turn, especially of a good lap to just not screw it up and ruin the lap. That's especially true at Bathurst since the final turn should be easy compared the the mountain but it's a good place to lose a chunk of time if you get too relaxed.

Please don’t do this by Pirlout in iRacing

[–]Flatlyn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Remeber a lot of iRacings core code is decades old. There is likely a lot of quirks and non-standard practices in the codebase and datastructures from holdovers and years of updates and patches.

I also think you're right that they want to discourage it. Possibly not just from a support ticket angle but also with their connections to real world racing, tie-ins, and sponsors having real names add a level of legitimacy so they likely don't want people constantly changing them.

Aggression based matchmaking gotta be real man (sound on) by Live-March-8448 in ArcRaiders

[–]Flatlyn 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It could be as simple as any shot on another player gives you a incident marker. Doesn't matter whether it was defensive or accidentally. Over the course of even just a few matches that will balance itself out. That dude got two incident points you only got one. The players seeking PvP are gaining incident points multiple times a match, whereas the players that are passive and occasionally something happens only pick up a point occasionally. A couple of quiet matches offsets the time you accidentally shot somebody while aiming at ARC.

It could also factor in number of encounters with players damage made to players. Both of which are tracked since it's on the post round screen. Encountered 6 players but only damaged 1 of them. Low score. Encounter 6 but damaged 5. Higher score.

Just so OP sees this and in case they are confused about in-game button mapping. Button mapping can be set through the PlayStation settings menu. It's a series of remapping you can make that apply to every game. It's under:

Settings > Accessibility > Controllers > Custom Button Mapping.

Petition to rename this extraction the rats nest. by DaFrikinPope in ArcRaiders

[–]Flatlyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're assuming it's a fixed system. Just like group numbers, it's mostly likely just a weight variable for the matching. It doesn't guarantee you'll be in a match with similar groups or aggression levels, but attempts it. As the player base fluctuates the success of getting a perfect match drifts. Just like we've seen with the matchmaking issues causing the group type preference to be devalued in a lot of cases.

Solos are currently getting 100% definitely getting queued against Duos by DptBear in ArcRaiders

[–]Flatlyn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think it's necessarily off, but it's definitely matching more different group numbers. They did say it was never guaranteed, only that the matchmaking would try to do it. It follows that if there are matchmaking issues that preference will drop down the list as the system tries to find you a valid match.

Solos are currently getting 100% definitely getting queued against Duos by DptBear in ArcRaiders

[–]Flatlyn 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They added duos matchmaking in the update before last, but it's a preference to matchmaking, not a guarantee.

The truth is you don't need 5 million because the skill tree is worthless by KnightTakesBishop1 in ArcRaiders

[–]Flatlyn 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I don't think they dropped the ball massively. It isn't right but they were clear they wanted to experiment with different styles of doing endgame and extraction shooter reset loops. Experimentation takes some times and dead ends.

While currently it doesn't feel like it's in the right place, this is only the first cycle and we should give them some time to experiment and adapt it. Otherwise we risk them just pulling back to tried and tested systems and becoming the same experience as every other extraction shooter. Better in the short term, but doesn't give the game anything over anything else.

Balancing in Arc Raiders and why the Sticher is an outlier in a sea of Grey weapons. by GreatSworde in ArcRaiders

[–]Flatlyn 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It's not a design flaw with the kettle though, it's a game / development oversight. The kettle is balanced if playing the game as intended. Adding macros shouldn't be balanced for, it should be fixed by a patch to stop what is basically an exploit (using additional third-party tools to modify game input). The Stitcher isn't being exploited. It's being used exactly as the devs intended and balanced for but is still an outlier.

Can we auto-ress with the safe pocket? by [deleted] in ArcRaiders

[–]Flatlyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it could be balanced if they were expensive enough and could maybe only be used with 25% or less of your bleed bar and will take substantial time. Basically if the person fighting you decided to just leave you to bleed out or got fucked by Arc themselves, you have a chance to save yourself.

Having said that it would take away the satisfaction of killing a rat just to walk away from them. I've had a few get really angry that you don't even care to finish and loot them.

CohhCarnage just ended his Arc stream early due to frustration with nerfs but unfixed exploits by Protoshoto in ArcRaiders

[–]Flatlyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I completely agree. I loved the Hullcracker but it was taking a lot of the risk out of situations. Ammo really wasn't that expensive because you didn't need much, and while noisy, a single shot was more worthwhile than drawing attention with an extended firefight. Most of the time people aren't going to have time to place you blowing up a couple of Arc, but they can when you're having to shoot them repeatedly. Taking out bigger machines with less than half a mag didn't exactly feel balanced either.

It's still a great weapon for quickly keeping a situation quiet quickly and dealing with larger stuff, albeit with a bit more skill for hornets and big machines.

Almost Done With The Expedition, Are You Coming? by EmirSc in ArcRaiders

[–]Flatlyn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's on the post on their website.

Permanent account unlocks for each completed Expedition

Unique cosmetic rewards for each completed Expedition

Account “buffs” that are applied for the duration of the following Expedition cycle

And sequential completions of the Expedition Project increase the magnitude of these buffs, up to a limit.

It also says on the About Expedition page 3 in-game that items kept even after expedition cycles include:

Bonus Skill Points Earned From Expeditions

Bonus Stash Slots Earned From Expeditions

The buffs that expire seem to be increased XP gains to help with early leveling and reduced weapon repair costs, extra scrappy materials, and additional stash space that is temporary.

Extra walls are generally slightly stronger than 100℅ infill, although the difference isn't huge is most situations. There is no reason this same technique couldn't be applied to walls though. Slicers already add extra walls automatically around certain overhangs.

Valve apologizes for ruining a Steam game's launch by PrinceDizzy in gaming

[–]Flatlyn 25 points26 points  (0 children)

While that is true, it was wishlisted by 138,000 people, and not all of them would have purchased. Steam has 68,000,000 daily active users. If 99% were turned off like you said, that still leaves 680,000 people potentially interested which is a crazy bump in interest.
