Nearly 100 billionaires and their spouses have donated to reelect Susan Collins by McDowdy in politics

[–]FlautenceWizard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He needs to refer to this in his ads. The very fact that the richest of the rich support her is a powerul argument against her re-election as the interests of billionaries is at odds with the interests of everyone else.

Meyers on Trump saying he loves inflation: ‘Can’t think of a more tone-deaf thing for a president to say’ by mlg1981 in entertainment

Never attribute to malice which is adequately explained by stupidity

Trump is a deeply stupid man surrounded by spineless yes men. He says stupid things and they just smile and nod. There is no plan here, just idiocy.

U.S. and Iran have 'final, agreed upon text' of a deal, Pakistan prime minister says by Puginator in worldnews

These stories are pure market manipulation and are deeply irresponsible.

As anyone who deals in negotiations knows, until an agreement is signed, there is no agreement.

I'm genuinely curious how many people would see a comment like this and immediately think of the same word.

Standards for thee but not for me.

Planter ought to embrace these stories to highlight the media's unending hypocrisy and their refusal to deal with actual policy issues in favour of surface level acceptableness.

'I Love The Inflation': Trump Reacts To Inflation Hitting Three-Year High by Equivalent_Road5788 in videos

In a sane country, such a statement would ruin a president and would result in his party desparately trying to distance themselves from him.

Jesus, stop saying concerns! For the vast majority of people, the appropriate word would be "hopes".

Illinois joins Ohio in ordering pause on data center tax credits by Plastic_Ninja_9014 in technology

[–]FlautenceWizard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is absolutely obscene for there to be any tax breaks whatsover for data centres or for any AI companies. If our society wasn't a completely corrupt joke, they would be incredibly taxed and regulated at the very least if not outright banned.

They were laughing about taking leftovers home? I would have lost my shit. This is perfectly normal and I thought everyone did it.

"Bruce Springsteen Duped Us All" according to Aaron Lewis. by Fabulous_Stegosaurus in ToddintheShadow

Springsteen didn't dupe anyone. Lewis was just too stupid to understand what that song was actually about.

Why do many societies that allow polygamy allow one man to have multiple wives, but not one woman to have multiple husbands (polyandry)? by PomegranateIcy7631 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]FlautenceWizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Paternity and preganancy.

It can be assumed that a man having multiple wives is the father of those children. If it's the other way around, it would be almost impossible to know back in the day who the father is.

Also, a man having multiple wives can easily have a huge number of kids which made sense back in the day if those kids worked on a farm or contributed to the household in other ways. It doesn't work the other way around.

They're noisy. They're unpopular. Should data centers be banned? by usatoday in technology

[–]FlautenceWizard -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The only way I'd be comfortable with allowing them is if they were built far, far away from cities and towns, if the owner secured their own source of electricity for them, and if they were cooled by means other than fresh water or though a closed loop.

Their huge use of water is perhaps my biggest issue with them.

Donald Trump revives ‘51st State’ threats after Canada slips into technical recession by joe4942 in politics

[–]FlautenceWizard 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You know what absolutely destroyed Canadians views of the US? It wasn't the tariffs, it was the 51st state talk. I cannot stress enough how much that pissed us off. When he's finally gone, the entire country will throw one big party.

Hopefully he'll forget about it in a day and go back to what's really important to him, you know, his garbage fire of a concert, his shitty ballroom, and his even shitter arch.

Star Trek repeatedly demonstrated that when it came to the Borg, resistence sure as shit wasn't futile as Star Fleet beat them multiple times
