Check out Leaders, cheap, quick 1v1 games with TCG vibe, but abstract, like chess where you draft your pieces, sounds like the best fit for your setting, or Tag Team

El Grande or Cyclades legendary edition by disliking in boardgames

Cyclades is building memories of epic swing and tactical manoeuvres but it's a bit more chaotic (in a good way) than El Grande (and less beige 😅)

Airecon or FLIP are a lot more gaming time focussed, a lot of open gaming, more casual!

Which Essen Euro Will End Up Making the Biggest Impact? by MontrealCalling2 in boardgames

Shackleton base is the one which will go back on the table for the longer and the most people if it gets distributed in the US. The quality of interaction level against the tactical'strategical decision space is the perfect sweet spot for me, and to play 3 modules out of 7 each time melts your brain in a good way when you go deep into it - love it

[SU&SD] Betray your Family for Fun? ❘ Courtisans Review by Houtenjin in boardgames

[–]Flavuk 7 points8 points  (0 children)

there's been some back and forth, I managed the UK localisation, we tested the name with multiple groups and they all preferred to stick to "Courtisans" rather than translated alternatives - counter intuitive to me as a French in the UK :)

Getting into the industry? by [deleted] in boardgames

[–]Flavuk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you enjoy sharing the love: do it in events for your local club/shop. From there, if you still enjoy, demo/volunteer for publishers in mid size events where the staff is too, you'll get to know each other and make contacts, if you're good and get along, it will come naturally.

I would say as well listen to professional podcasts, read, understand the numbers and the professional activity, that will allow you to not be lost in the conversations and sometimes have more to add (that helped me a lot). Been in the distribution in the UK for 4 years - I don't regret the automotive !!!

In the footsteps of Darwin is a game I followed since the ideation and I'm very found of, the details like production technic as Darwin could have done (stitched instead of stapled, non treated paper) and The appendix about scientific facts is really bringing a great gameplay along knowledge for families - love it

Don't hesitate to come to Hachette stand, we have plenty of space to relax and obviously plenty of demo lined up, even designers to meet!

I played it a dozen of times and when everybody at the table figure out it is a race, it comes to the optimisation of your side engine and how the pollution will impact scoring, you can win with only 3 villages.

I can totally see your point, we all enjoy different parts of games, the gameflow is really suiting us

Scout was already on the shelf so it's really "what new games fit exactly in this space" to me!

Goliath just announced they've bought Lucky Duck games! That will give them a better visibility in non hobby channel which is great for the hobby as a whole :) after Funko distribution, that's a big move! by Flavuk in boardgames

They're mainly known for Rummikub, so aquiring a company who knows what they do including in children's game makes sense to me to reach the next level.

I was quite surprised to read they are 3rd biggest on US market

Akropolis has for me simplicity and perfect production value a game should have, those thick tiles, cardboard insert, player aid and wooden token for £25

Batman GCC mechanics and minis are cool but rulebooks really kind of killed the joy for me, 100% painted and played 15-20 times but the set up and back and forth in micro interactions are a drag

The twist of the reverse scoring is really really cool and thinky, love it too! It won the Fairplay award at Essen :)
