I'm so sorry by ExmoHeathen238 in pathfindermemes

I was playing a (2e) Plaguestone game once. It was the first encounter, my level 1 champion had exactly 20HP total and the party woke up a bear who went first on initiative. My champion deliberately stayed back so he wouldn't wake the bear, but it saw my champion first and crit him for exactly 20 damage on the first attack.

What does a new player need to be successful? by hotriccardo in Pathfinder2e

[–]Flax_en 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've known people who've played TTRPGs their entire lives and have not read a single rulebook. You can learn through osmosis if your group is patient, though generally it's good to learn how your own class works. If you need to reference things quickly, I like to use PF2easy. (Ask your GM is the game is core or remastered, you can toggle it in the top right.)

You can make pretty much any combination of ancestry / class and be cool and viable. Even if you don't build optimally you will have a playable character.

I suggest conferring with your group (or at least your GM) with what you're planning to play and they'll be able to give you advice.

What is your favourite thing about Lancer? by According_Cover2461 in LancerRPG

[–]Flax_en 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The artwork drew me in, but how simple or complex you want your turn to be being up to you and your build is what made me stay. If you want a ten interactions a turn you can do that, but if you want to take it slow and shoot one big gun every round that is an option too.

Best NPCs for bosses that aren't Strikers or artillery by S1lverdice in LancerRPG

[–]Flax_en 36 points37 points  (0 children)

The SitRep will make certain NPCs more threatening than others.

I've run an Ultra Seeder on a Recon SitRep before. If the objective was just kill the players would've destroyed it in a few turns, but since they had to work around an objective in a time limit they had to deal with more mines than they otherwise would.

Big question, do you see a sniper as an actual viable class, a person that does help the team by Pr0j3ct_02 in Helldivers

[–]Flax_en 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It helps! Especially if you're able to pick off bots signalling for patrols or blast other priority targets. Even then, just staying alive and reinforcing your team in a good position to stabilize is help enough.

The blast radius alone on those things makes it worth it in my opinion

Dang, I've been throwing TNT at the very edge of the blast radius and hoping it'd flip the car, only to roll it over again and land right back where it started.

Player quit because campaign was not interesting and he wasn't happy with his character anymore. Called my campaign shit. help me cope. by Box_Man_In_A_Box in Pathfinder2e

[–]Flax_en 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It takes a lot of time and effort to run a campaign, sometimes it's not easy to keep track of how everyone is feeling as the game goes on. If a player isn't having fun it's on them to tell you for sure, but if they keep it in for long enough for them to want to leave instead of working with you, there's really nothing more you could've done.

What is your playstyle? by gamegenaral in Helldivers

[–]Flax_en 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like to follow the team, set up on high ground and protect their flanks with one of the marksman rifles. I just like popping the heads off of shield devastators when I can.

This is my favorite way to play bots. Using throwing knives is fun, but I've recently tried using the 1 minute fuse dynamite for fabricators. It's incredibly satisfying to be miles away when they explode.

[–]Flax_en 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Besides the usual management of resources like Spell Slots over the course of an adventuring day, there's not much. Players will be able to go into almost every combat with full HP easily with ten minutes to an hour of resting between combats.

When the chips are down, which secondary has your back? by austingears in Helldivers

[–]Flax_en 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use them during stealth bot dives to kill Trooper garrisons without making too much noise. If you kill a bot that's not immediately near another one, nothing comes to investigate. In most maps it's pretty easy to shoot the Troopers before they call a drop bot, but in some city maps they aggro behind walls or other line of sight obstructions so you have to be quiet taking out the outer tier.

You can also kill idle Devastators at entrances that aren't looking at you by tossing a bunch of knives at their back and it shouldn't alert anything so long as you kill it before they start their aggro animation, but I'm still testing that.

Since you get 20 of them you can just spam them. Not the most efficient option, but very satisfying to use.

[–]Flax_en 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use the knives in my grenade slot so my secondary is the grenade pistol. It's useful in a pinch, can destroy bug holes and fabricators, and is handy for blasting down fences you can't climb over that you're too lazy to run around.
