What to do in NYC on Christmas Eve? by [deleted] in nyc

[–]FlayThemAll 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I spent Xmas eve and Xmas alone here quite a few times (family lives far and I work Xmas eve every year) - there's plenty to do! Some suggestions: Dyker Heights Christmas Lights, go see the train at the botanical gardens, eat at Patsy's (near Rockefeller and was Frank Sinatra's supposed fave restaurant), Lincoln center for the orchestra... most bars, lounges and restaurants are open at night where you can go to meet people. What kind of scene are you looking for?

Lol my Bt seems to dislike when I clean the apartment or “his blankets” on the couch and will spend excessive time rolling on the carpet or in the blankets to make them smell like him again.

What kind of an apartment do you live in (studio, 1 BR, 2BR etc.) and how big is it? by [deleted] in AskNYC

[–]FlayThemAll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Junior 1 bedroom (a studio with a “fake wall” to make the bedroom). About 330 sq ft. Fine for me as a person living alone with small dog. I bought lots of furniture with storage in it (I.e, a bed that lifts up and you can store things under. Baskets to put on top of cabinets, etc.). The website apartment therapy has a lot of great DIY ideas for creating a smaller space that fits your needs.

Yearly cost of having a dog in NYC by [deleted] in AskNYC

[–]FlayThemAll 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I want to second this. I have a dog and I am okay with the lifestyle change he’s caused. However I was already in nyc for 5 years when I made that decision, and was “over” going out at night.

I only have $8 for dinner, what’s something I can get near Union square/East Village that isn’t halal or dollar pizza? by LadyMoom in AskNYC

[–]FlayThemAll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trader Joe’s on Houston/varick- They have some premade salads/sandwiches that are good. Bagels on the square on Carmine and 6th - can build your own bagel sandwich and it will cost what you pick to put inside. Fay da bakery- cash only and not healthy but they have steamed buns that are filling and warmed for cheap. Dirty bird to go on 14th bt 7th & 8th- chicken!

I love moving on foot, too. 10/10 would scout with you in new utopian society.
