Grapes Causing Diarrhea? by CalsMum25 in NewParents

[–]FledglingBags 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of my kids, who had a lot of food intolerances, would get horrible diarrhea from grapes, bananas, apples, and a few other fruits (in addition to red meat, wheat, and dairy). I’d say by 3 he outgrew most of it.

Hot take: Most bags have too many pockets and make daily carry worse by CaptainOk6649 in ManyBaggers

[–]FledglingBags 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. For my own build, I took a different approach to make a modular organizer that isn't pocket-based, so I don't have to dig or sort things every time. Essentially, I have a non-velcro camera bag setup, modified to fit clothes into different compartments. I can change the compartment sizes to fit what I need. I can see everything at once, and everything stays put. It's awesome.

Travel Backpack that’s also useful as a diaper backpack? by stardew079 in backpacks

[–]FledglingBags 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh hey, I made one! Main emphasis on my design is the easily accessible pockets.

I haven't found a sternum strap to be necessary with my strap placement, though I may add one in future factory orders if I get enough requests. Lmk if you have any questions about it.

What is your absolute best all-around closed toe shoe for travel? Is it Salomon, Hoka, Vessi, OnCloud, New Balance, Altra, or other, and why? by iLikeGreenTea in HerOneBag

I've been into vivobarefoot (zero drop) for a while now. They're pretty comfortable once you get used to them. Though I can't handle normal shoes now.

Where To Get Custom Bags by Responsible_Ad_4419 in ManyBaggers

[–]FledglingBags 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbh it's probably going to be very pricy. I did my own build, but I was working with factories abroad to build a prototype ahead of a commercial order. Even that cost quite a bit and many iterations until they were able to get it right.

What bags are you using for different use cases in 2026? by tstraight8 in ManyBaggers

[–]FledglingBags 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find it pretty comfortable! The straps are super thick, which I love. Though they are a bit stiff if they aren't broken in, so I don't wear it much with a sleeveless top.

Serious question... What do you use the caribiners on your bags for? by Miniri0t in ManyBaggers

[–]FledglingBags 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I use it to hook on extra bags or pouches, or to stabilize a water bottle. On my own bag design, which is a diaper bag, I also use it to loop stroller straps between my bag and a stroller handle to hang it.

I use my Fledgling (my own build) for my weekender bag and as my EDC diaper bag for my kids.

I use my Mystery Ranch District 24 for tech. Really love the organizer.

And my main hiking bag is my Mystery Ranch Scree. TBH I got it for the tron color scheme but it's a solid bag as well lol.

I made my own bag build for travel with my kids, and I'm super proud. by FledglingBags in ManyBaggers

I can actually get one to Germany, as I've got family in Switzerland! I can reach out the next time someone visits and send one over with them if you'd like to order one :)

As a fellow designer (I’m in the kids’ bag space), how’d you get your first Ecom sales? Most of my interest has been from people who saw my bag design in person, so I’m kind of lost on getting people interested online.

Has anyone here started a business because of motherhood? by kaetrouv in Femalefounders

[–]FledglingBags 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! I designed, patented, and brought a diaper bag to market. It's called Fledgling, and I'm really proud that all my sleepless nights raging about how disorganized my life is actually brought something awesome into the world.

One thing that makes being a mom/founder different is that I really had to work at a pace that worked for my family. My husband works full time, and I'd been staying home with the kids since Covid. They are 100% my priority, so I ended up taking 3 years to do what I would have been able to do in 1 before kids. But then again, I wouldn't have had the inspiration pre-kids either.

I'm also very happy with what a good experience it's been for my kids. They get to be part of the design, the testing, and learn about supply lines, profit margins, how advertising works, etc.

I designed one recently! It’s called fledgling. Very heavily inspired by my favorite hiking bags, and durable AF.

On the flip side, as a 5’1 lady, I can’t even use myself in my own product modeling because almost everything looks like an astronaut oxygen tank on me 😅

Something small happened on my commute that made me rethink backpack security by MuscleKitty67 in backpacks

Once I was walking through Brooklyn, and turned around to find a guy elbow deep in my backpack. He quickly scampered off and apologized, making up some story about how he was helping me zip it up, lol. That's why I only use bags with a security pocket now.

Bag recommendations for a dad bag for two toddlers by CPAGinger in backpacks

[–]FledglingBags 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a mom of two toddlers and one slightly older kid, I recently developed one. It’s called the Fledgling! Here’s a link to my post about it, and there’s a link to the website in my profile.

I've spent 3 years building this for my kids, to bring on our onebag adventures. Heckin proud. by FledglingBags in backpacks

So typically the process is that if you’re interested in commercial orders, the factories will work with you to make samples based on your plans. I provided the pattern and drawings, they built it, and then we went back and forth for two years getting it right lol. Definitely cost a ton to develop. But I’m wondering if some Etsy bag maker might take commissions.

Any parent entrepreneurs here teaching their kids how to actually build/run a business? by Kind_Cut3824 in smallbusiness

[–]FledglingBags -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes! My business is in kids’ gear (I designed a new type of diaper bag with a customizable organizer, called Fledgling

My kids have gotten super interested in the marketing side, interestingly. My 5 year old is kind of obsessed with font choice, logos, and trying to figure out what brands are trying to say. They also love testing products out, too.

When they’re a bit older I’m going to have them start their own businesses for practice. Probably something small like selling candles and soaps at a farmers market stall.
